Every action has a consequence, and Claire Ward knows it. And yet, even knowing that her decision to swap places with her identical twin sister, Lia, for a night could be disastrous, she still does it. Why? Because it will give her an evening with the man she’s been crushing on for years, Lia’s best friend, Finn. Miss Straight A Student has thought through all the angles, and knows the risk is … angles, and knows the risk is worth it. And everything would have been fine, if Finn had been the one to show up at her door.
But it wasn’t.
Bauer Davis— Finn’s half brother and his exact opposite in just about every definable category is the one waiting for her instead. A professional snowboarder, Bauer is covered in ink, full of attitude, and has a chip on his shoulder the size of Mt. Olympus. The kind of bad boy that Claire has never been attracted to before.
Now the good girl is with the wrong brother for a night, and when the consequence is that they have to pretend to be together for an event, it’s nothing she could have predicted. But maybe, just maybe, what makes Bauer so bad, is exactly what Claire needs.

We often think about what we want and not what we may need. Because what we may need is oftentimes scarier than what we want.
Every time I think I can’t love the next Karla Sorenson book more than the last I’m proven wrong. And Bauer and Claire were no exception. Claire Ward had her life planned out and was going to take a risk. And that risk meant finally getting some time with her twin sister’s best friend and her long time crush, even if that meant pretending to be her twin for a night. But instead she opened the door to his rebel, bad boy older brother and she never expected to need him.
Bauer Davis figures one night with his disapproving stepmother and his brother’s best friend will be worth it if he can save his snowboarding career with a new sponsor. What he doesn’t expect is twin Ward girls switching places or the attraction he feels with Claire.
I adored the relationship build between Claire and Bauer. It really showcased their individuality and issues and wants. Their understanding of each other and their drives made them such an excellent couple.
And while I know they’ll be challenged soon enough, I’m going to let them be my favorite Sorenson couple for now.
Karla started surprising me when she said that the hero wouldn’t be Finn as everyone thought but I was already all in when she reveal us who claire’s love interest was and she wasn’t wrong about us loving BauerClaire, after reading Faked, I can’t imagine liking FinnClaire.
Bauer is perfect, my kind of guy, he’s all bad boy attitude on the outside but on the inside is a sweetheart, from the way he acts and treats Claire to the jokes he throws around her… everything is so cute, i want to wrapped him up in a hug, I loved that he was fascinated by Claire from the first moment he saw her, I loved him so much and honestly for me Bauer was the star of the book, he sweep me off my feet and stole the #1 place in my heart that belong to Logan and I wasn’t expecting that.
Claire is too precious for this world, she’s so smart and sweet, she’s also quiet and keeps to herself unless when she’s talking about the things she loves, in that case she bloomed, I’m so proud of the person she became, it’s as if I raised her, and excuse me, she psychoanalysing Bauer?? everything to me, as a psychology major I feel you claire.
I love seeing them together, they had so much chemistry, I swoon in all their moments together, they’re are perfect for each other, it was beautiful to see Claire looking past Bauer‘s facade, showing him that he deserved to be loved for the person he actually is and not judge for the person other people thing he is, this love story couldn’t be any different because they fit perfectly.
Talking about the secondary characters, in some situations Lia and Finn annoyed me a little but by the end of the book everything was just fine, anyway, I was missing my Ward family so much, they’re so chaotic, their interactions give me life and THAT little scene from lia’s book??? send it my way already please!!
Karla keeps outdoing herself, i’m in love with her writing, faked was incredible and it helps the fact that I’ll never get tired of the Ward family, I just wish it had more scenes with the family together but overall this book was so amazing, the epilogue was really cute, definitely my favorite book from her and I’ll be rereading many many times.
I would fake anything with Bauer!
I am not shy about it either. He is absolutely worth the heartache, heartbreak, and any other aches (yes, those!).
Faked is taking the good girl out of her comfort zone and putting her in the path of the “bad boy.”
What a wild path! What a wonderful journey. Fake it ’til he breaks your heart then love with all the pieces left!
This is the story that made me fall in love with Karla Sorensen- the best of the series and my favorite of hers. It’s just everything I love about romance. The twin swap premise is fun (but also not dragged out), all the characters are fantastic, we have the opposites attract bad-boy and shy girl trope I love, and I simply ADORE this couple. THey are perfect for each other- and the chemistry just sparkles, and the romance is so freaking swoony. This bad boy Bauer just owned my heart, and Claire is so charming and relatable. There is a light and sweet nature to this story, but it also has some real substance. The emotional connection and soulful intimacy and authentic vulnerability they share is what made this couple so special. Just romantic perfection- and a story I revisit often just because I love them so much.
These characters are deep and complex as well as lovable. This story has a plethora of lessons on life and love. I definitely recommend this book as it had all the feels. From one moment to the next, I could be fanning myself, crying, laughing, and feeling a weightlessness that comes with falling in love.
I adored this book.
I can’t say that I was a big fan of the twins from the previous books. I didn’t hate them, but I didn’t love them either. Well, this book changed my mind. I loved it. A huge part of it was because of Bauer who was a little different from the heroes in the previous books. He was an outcast in his own family, and, by association, in Claire’s family as well due to Claire’s sister’s connection to Bauer’s family. Claire and Bauer ended up being so adorable together. I also loved the cameos from Logan and Paige, which, if you’re a fan of their book, you will love. However, this book can be read as a stand-alone.
I need to be adopted into this family. I read Focused a while back and fell in love this family and Love how each book is a different sister’s story. This book was a quick read for me and I think it was not because it was short or missing something but because it was a page turner. Bauer and Claire story is perfect. Two misfits finding their match in the most unlikely circumstances. I’m so happy for these two and how they have found each other. Their weekend together and growth as a couple in that short time pulled at my heart strings and made me swoon.
This book was the perfect weekend read and I highly recommend reading it.
I really liked the style of this book. It was all about the couple and there feelings being built. It was very tender and loving. Even the sex was touching as well as hot. The HEA wasn’t sappy nor did the move at the speed of light. It was the perfect ending for them.
NO SPOILERS!
Faked was a fun, sweet, entertaining, and swoon-worthy standalone bad boy sports romance in the Ward Family series, and I thoroughly enjoyed Bauer and Claire’s story!
I loved Karla Sorensen’s prose and the story she crafted for Bauer and Claire. It was a lot different than I expected in some ways, and there was a little more angst and emotion than I anticipated, but luckily the author wrapped everything up nicely and I was satisfied with the conclusion. It was very entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.
Bauer and Claire were wonderful and I loved them to pieces. I loved their personalities and enjoyed watching their relationship progress throughout. I also loved the banter and interactions between Bauer and Claire, and their red-hot chemistry together. I enjoyed the secondary characters as well and really liked their addition to the story.
Faked was a sweet, funny, enjoyable, and swoon-worthy standalone bad boy sports romance from Karla Sorensen, and I would definitely recommend Bauer and Claire’s story! I’ve loved everything I’ve read from this author so far, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for Lia Ward (Claire’s twin sister) in Floored!
Faked is a must-read book. It sucks you in from the opening paragraphs and just keeps getting and better. It’s unpredictable, addictive, and masterfully written. The Ward family is phenomenal, and the side characters are funny and eye-opening.
I’m so glad that Finn and Claire were not right for each other because Bauer is the most perfect and swoony boyfriend ever. Also, as Lia says in the book, they would have been a really boring couple. Claire’s depth of thought and the way she analyzed situations and approached people was refreshing and interesting.
Fake seems effortless. So if there hadn’t been a note from the author telling the backstory I wouldn’t haven’t had known the initial difficulties. So as sad as I’m because Karla Sorensen has to scratch a lot of her initial words, this worked for the best. I truly believe Faked Karla’s best book to date.
This is a new author to me and after reading the blurb I was somewhat intrigued but felt…..meh about reading. I can honestly say I was wrong and once I started I didn’t want to put it down, it was that good from start to finish! Claire and Bauer couldn’t have been more opposite but as the saying goes, opposites attract. This book was witty, sexy and swoon-worthy, definitely one you’ll want top read!
ARRRRGH! Claire and Bauer were just so completely adorable – I can barely even handle it!
This series! This series is turning out to be everything I didn’t even know I needed. Ms. Sorensen delivers on all the things I love the best: the chemistry, the banter, the sweet steady burn that holds my heart in thrall and keeps my greedy little reader brain hungry for more. Faked delivered on all those things – and more! I loved it so much!
This is a sexy sweet fake romance / opposites attract story. It wasn’t what I thought it was going to be, but in the very best way. The chemistry between Claire and Bauer fired up immediately and I loved how it took even them by complete surprise. I loved how eager they were to discover each other, and how angst-free their love developed. I gobbled up their adorableness. I wanted more time watching them get to know each other and unpack their histories. I wanted more banter and sweetness. Honestly, I’m not sure I’d ever get enough.
If there’s a flaw, it’s that I might have liked to have seen more groveling from Bauer in the end. Their conflict – which I connected with – wrapped up pretty neatly. And I love that it stayed true to the fact that there was very little angst between Claire and Bauer themselves, but given Claire’s history and her own childhood trauma, I would have liked to have seen him address that and fall at her feet a little to make up for his actions. I also wasn’t sure what to make of Lia in this book – though I’m excited to learn more about what makes her tick in the next one. Claire, as it turns out, is a far more forgiving person than I am – and I adored her. I just simply, absolutely adored her.
I also loved getting to see some growth from Bauer and his relationship with his family – particularly Finn. I loved that some of those relationships began healing, and the role that Finn played in getting him back together with Claire. Bauer was straight up dreamy, y’all. A little broken. A bit of a chip on his shoulder. But his heart was so big – I was completely smitten.
This was another fantastic read! I am falling deeper and deeper in love with this Ward family, and enjoying every second I get to spend in their romances. I can’t wait for what’s left to come! ~ 4.5 Stars
Karla Sorensen is a terrific author, and this story is like a mashup of a lot of fun tropes, which means it’s pretty unique. I recently read a book by a difference author that seemed so much like something else I’d read recently, I hate that! That is not what you get here! There’s not a lot of angst, which can be refreshing; it’s a great story about two interesting characters that you really root for, both individually and as a couple. I’m looking forward to the rest of this series! Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I love this series a lot. Claire is one character I’ve been looking forward to. I like the unexpected twist to her story for her love interest. I loved Bauer so much. I mean what he does for Claire at the end of the book and the epilogue would win me over no matter what. I thought Claire and Bauer fit like puzzle pieces. The banter between the two was one of my favorite parts of the book. I love when the Ward family gets together. It’s full of laughs most often, but it also warms my heart. It also makes remember the book that started it all with Logan and Paige. I would highly recommend this one. I started it and the next thing I knew I was finished. It’s one that hooks you right from the start and it’s so hard to put down.
“What if you ask me to?” I said quietly. “Then can I?”
Claire exhaled shakily. “I won’t do that.”
“No?” Carefully I touched my thumb to the curve of her chin.
She shook her head and my hand fell away.
“Maybe you won’t,” I told her. “But hear me right now, Princess, I’d love it if you asked for a kiss.”
I typically try to write concise, well thought out reviews. This will not be that. I don’t even know if I can truly convey the strength of feelings I have for “Faked”. Our Heroine, Claire, is wonderful. She has the same major as I did and Karla really got it right! I noticed things I look for in others due to my “school specialty” in Claire and it made me downright GIDDY. Her family is overwhelming and awesome and I just really loved her. She is strong and loving and everything a heroine should be.
His eyes were so happy, so satisfied, that my heart burned bright and warm like a coal. “I think right now, I’d give you just about anything you asked for.”
Bauer is without a doubt my new favorite book Hero. Hands flippin down. He is EVERYTHING! He is this sweet, squishy, romantic love muffin in a tall, dark, and handsome “bad boy” package. Bauer is absolutely enamored with our heroine and he is the book hero that puts real men all across the world to shame. I loved his love and care and strength of feeling for Claire.
Karla Sorensen writes my absolute favorite romance scenes… she is the ultimate in my eyes and I always get this deep satisfying love pit in my stomach from the way she can write a romantic interlude. Is it weird to have a favorite sex scene author? Maybe. But actual romance is part of this romance reader’s wishlist and with the books I’ve read of hers, she always always always knocks it out of the park.
I found Karla Sorensen from to her Involvement with Smartypants Romance, and this is her first non SPR book that I’ve read, I know without a doubt, it is not my last. This is the most recent “Ward family book” and cannot wait to go back through and see how we got to where we are. Even not reading any of the previous, this book was the perfect standalone and only whetted the appetite to learn more of this family.
This was about twins, Lia the extrovert and Claire the quiet shy introvert. Claire has had a secret crush on her sister’s best friend Finn for years. Lia asks her to step in and go to an event with Finn that involves his parents. She agrees, excited she will get to spend the evening with Finn. However, it’s not Finn that shows up to her door but his half brother Bauer who is a tatted and oh so very temperamental not to mention, an outcast from his family. Bauer is a snowboarder who just lost his sponsor because of his attitude and ways.
Bauer doesn’t think he’s boyfriend material or anything to do with a relationship. He’s never had anyone in his corner to fight for him or see who he really is. Claire while talking to an important person at the event is talking as herself and Bauer sees that and really is the first person to see how she really is. Oh and yes he knew it wasn’t Lia he brought but the sister but let her think otherwise.
Can these two take a chance on each other and open up and find happiness? They have the chemistry but can they navigate a relationship?
With every book that Ms. Sorensen writes, she solidifies herself as one of my go-to authors. Her writing gets better and better!
Bauer and Claire’s story is an opposites attract. Claire is the Ward twin that lives in the shadow of her sister Lia and she is OK with it. She had always envied Lia’s relationship with her best friend Finn and when Claire gets a chance to spend an evening with the guy she has crushed on her whole life, she has to take it. She never expects Finn’s bad boy brother to be the one to show up!
Bauer is all attitude and sass but under that lies so much vulnerability. This tatted up bad boy really opens up to Claire and lets himself care about someone else. He is swept up in the magic of his princess.
These two found what neither of them expected. They are the perfect partner for each other. I loved how they both fought for what they had in their own way. This story was great! I can’t wait for the next Ward story!
“This feeling was so incredibly delicious, so addicting, I could understand why people chased it with two grasping hands once they knew it existed.”
Karla Sorensen has hit her stride with the Ward family. Somehow, each book is just as good as — perhaps even better than —the one before.
If I needed an author to write my happily ever after, Sorensen just might be the one I’d pick. Her books make my heart happy.
Faked was not at all what I expected, yet it was absolutely perfect. Claire is the Ward sibling most likely to be overlooked. Not as outspoken as her twin sister, she can go unnoticed at times. That is until she meets Bauer.
Bauer sees Claire. She’s not just half of a set. She’s not interchangeable with her twin. Likewise, Claire sees beyond Bauer’s bad-boy reputation.
The heat and chemistry between these two is *chef’s kiss* perfection.

When one character pretends to be someone else and it leads to fake dating, you get Claire and Bauer. After meeting Claire in her sister’s book, Focused, I did not expect her story to unfold the way it did in Faked, but I absolutely loved it! Claire agrees to pose as her twin sister because she wants the opportunity to spend the evening with the boy she’s had a crush on since they were kids. But when his estranged brother shows up instead, she’s taken aback when their chemistry is off the charts! This book contains a lot of heat and a tiny bit if angst and I can’t wait to read more of the Ward sisters!
