DrewI hate the lies you tell. For as long as I could remember, everything in my world had been fake. The happy nuclear family. The loving parents. The close father-son relationship. The respectable family business. All lies. I’d had it with the pretense and the show, but I was trapped on a dizzying merry-go-round of deception, and I couldn’t get off. So when she was thrown unexpectedly into my … when she was thrown unexpectedly into my path, and I discovered she was just another fake, I needed to make her pay. Little did I know, the deceit ran deeper than I could have imagined, and nothing was as it seemed.
Kik
I tell the lies I hate.
I hated the lies and the pretense, but if I was going to achieve what I wanted in life, they were a necessary evil. Truth was, I’d mostly made peace with the idea. What I was doing was a means to an end, and the end definitely justified the means. Besides, it wasn’t forever—nothing ever was.
Everybody had to do what they had to do, right? I could live with that. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe. At least I thought I could until he came bursting into my life, and was determined to tear down everything I’d worked so hard to build.
**Fake You is a complete standalone dark, angsty, rollercoaster of a bully romance. However, it contains references to characters and events first depicted in book 1 of the Boys Of Trinity Hall series, and as such, although it can be read and enjoyed alone, reading Break You first will make for the best possible reading experience.

Kik has incredible strength as she works multiple jobs while going to college part-time to keep a roof over her and her father’s head. Her father has been sick for years from the work he did for his former company and his health is failing. She desperately doesn’t want to lose him but she also wants the company that caused this to pay the people that have suffered based on their greed. Drew seems like he has led a charmed life but his father, Victor, is a bully to anyone and everyone. His latest task is for Drew to convince Kik to stop blackmailing his dad or his father will no longer support his mother and grandfather. Now, I had my moments where I hated Drew and then I would love him, which made this story more interesting. As Drew works to destroy Kik, we find that deep down he isn’t like his father. What happens when he realizes he likes Kik for her strength and courage? Will Drew lose everything with his father? Or will he finally realize love is possible? I was tied in knots a lot during this story, never knowing what Drew was really going to do as Kik worked to stay afloat. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
When Drew’s father came to him and insisted he help solve a little problem that he had with the family business, Drew had his reservations about getting involved. Especially after he learned who the problem was with, and what his father’s expectations for him were. But his father was prepared for that and told him either he help or there would be consequences… which meant Drew had no choice but to get involved!
Getting close to Kik is definitely not going to be a hardship, she is gorgeous, but his father’s plan is deceitful and damaging and he isn’t so sure he has it in him to hurt her… or does he?
Fake You is a dramatic little tale of righting wrongs, finding love, personal growth, and letting go of past hurts. These young souls are brought together by deceit, but it’s love that holds them together. Both have had their share of troubles, dealt with some impossible situations, been on the receiving end of other’s disappointment more times than they care to count. This one comes with a lot of push and pull, Drew trying to do what is expected of him and ignore his heart, and Kik trying not to fall for the bad guy, but finding it’s impossible not to. This one wrecked my heart, and had me overwhelmed with emotion…. it’s word were laced with so much pain. While it was a rough journey, it also came with a bit of happiness to be discovered too. If you like dark, angsty tales then this one will be right up your alley, it pages hold a story destined to give you all you want and more! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
The author nailed it! The storyline was constantly shifting and just when you thought you had it all worked out, we were taken in a different direction. I love the banter between Best mates Xavier and Drew, the chemistry that Drew and Kik deny was off the charts.
Drew has everything a guy with old money could want, at least that’s how it looks on the surface. We have images to uphold, because the way we portray ourselves reflects on our status within the community. Daddy dearest tasks Drew with putting a stop to a girl who works at Rollergirl from blackmailing him. Of course daddy has an ultimatum, but one would really call it blackmail. Drew is seething, but sets out to scare this girl off. He’s in denial, but he is unable to get her out of his thoughts.
Kik isn’t just another girl, in fact she’s extraordinary. With a sick father to look after she has three jobs and is studying pre-law. Kik returns to her dressing room after her act, Drew barges in and is a little star struck. Before long he’s pulled himself together and like a leopard showing his spots, his true colours are shown. Who does he think he is, telling her what to do? If that’s not enough he’s popping up everywhere making a nuisance of himself. He inserts himself into her life, disrupting and making her life a nightmare. He smooth though because he has her daddy fooled.
