MaddoxThe reason I rarely go home is three simple words: I’m a liar. When the pressure to marry my childhood sweetheart became too much, I told her I was gay and then fled to New York like my ass was on fire. Now, five years later and after a drunken encounter, I find myself invited to her wedding. And I have to bring my boyfriend—the boyfriend who doesn’t exist because I’m straight. At least, I … I’m straight.
At least, I think I am. Meeting the guy I’m bribing to be my boyfriend for the weekend makes me question everything about myself.
Damon
When my sister asks me to pretend to be some straight guy’s boyfriend, my automatic response is to say no. It’s because of guys like him people don’t believe me when I tell them I’m gay.
But Maddox has something I need.
After an injury that cost me my baseball career, I’m trying to leave my playing days behind and focus on being the best sports agent I can be. Forty-eight hours with my sister’s best friend in exchange for a meeting with a possible client. I can do this.
I just wish he wasn’t so hot. Or that he didn’t kiss like he means it.
Wait … why is the straight guy kissing me?
Fake Out is a full-length MM novel with no cliffhanger.

This was a really cute straight to gay MM read. This is my first book by this author but I really enjoyed not only the plot but the characters and the banter. I was hooked from start to finish and had that urge to see where it went. I do plan to read more in this series because the author has me hooked on meeting the other characters and getting to know them more. 4 stars #2OCCJD
This is my first Eden Finley read and I was not disappointed, it went beyond my expectations.
I loved reading Maddox and Damon’s story, they were perfect together. The witty banter, the chemistry, the push and pull and the connection between them makes this story funny and sweet.
Maddox had me snickering and laughing out loud so much with his witty/sarcastic comments and comebacks.
Damon had me swooning with his Alpha bossyness and jealous/possessiveness.
I loved this story and how much it had me snickering and laughing out loud. I loved the relationship between Maddox and Damon, it didn’t feel rushed or forced it felt natural and flowed really well. I loved the chemistry and steam with Maddox and Damon. I loved how sweet and fun this story is to read. This is definitely one I will be reading again in the future
Im looking forward to seeing what happens with the other characters throughout the series.

What a great opener to the series! I love Maddox and Damon!!
This was my first book of Eden’s and was surprised to learn she’s Australian too! I love discovering Australian talent! I loved the dynamics of Eden’s writing and the depth of her characters. I’m so glad I found Eden’s stories!!
Maddox endeared me to him from the start. I felt his awkwardness, anxiety, confusion and commitment phobia. He seemed like a (somewhat confused) free spirit from the start and I enjoyed ‘watching’ him evolve throughout this book and discover who he is and who he could become. Maddox had a severe phobia of commitment and being ‘stuck’ or ‘trapped’, I felt Eden did a wonderful job in allowing Maddox to find his perfect person in Damon, that changed his fear, phobias and ultimately himself.
Damon seemed a bit uptight at the beginning of this book but eventually, he comes out of his shell and is loveable, bold and confident in who he is. He journey to finding Maddox is an interesting one and I love his sister Stacy and her ongoing pranks (which occasionally backfire) and her crazy dynamic with Maddox.
I felt like this was a well-rounded book and loved the main and secondary characters. With some wit, drama and a prank went wrong, this book is a great example of the fake boyfriend trope and has made me a forever fan of Eden Finley!!
Narration: 4.5
Review:
I found the Narration by Alexander Cendese (Maddox) and Iggy Toma (Damon) for Fake Out really good. I loved the characters and how Alexander brought Maddox to life with wit, humour and sass and how Iggy played Damon’s seriousness, pain and love so well I could feel these guys falling for each other. The sex is also hot, hot, hot !
All in all, great narration for a great story!!!

I was hooked on this book from the first page. Maddox is a great character. He’s selfish, non-combative, and funny as all get out and when he runs into his ex-girlfriend, who he’s lied to break up with her, he finds himself agreeing to attend her wedding in their hometown. Understandably, he needs a boyfriend and his best friend’s brother, Damon, fits the bill. Damon, working past the fact that his best friend ostracized him for who he was and losing the career he always wanted, he’s a very reasonable and brilliant character that I loved from the moment he was introduced.
I like how both characters are very relatable, each with their own pasts that can’t help invade how they think about relationships and each other. But the more they get to know one another, the harder they fall. They are both such original characters, and along with Stacy, Damon’s sister and Maddox’s best friend, the story feels whole by the end. I can’t wait for the next book in the series and I’m hoping that both Damon and Maddox are in it. A wonderful read!!
I loved this book and it started my love affair with Eden Finley. I’ve been binging her since that book and Maddox and Damon have to be among my favorite couples.
The connection those two have is intense and undeniable, and if you want heart-stopping moments as well as some gushingly sweet encounters, this book is for you.
Loved, loved, loved it! Read the whole series! Actually, read all of this author’s books, you will not regret it!
a silly story but helped pass a snowy weekend
Don’t quite know what to think about this book, it has an original plot, straight guy plays a gay guy to go to his ex-girlfriend’s wedding. Doesn’t quite sound realistic as far as friends and family’s exceptance of his supposidely him being gay, especially since he was a real killer with women. I makes for interesting reading though, even if it’s unbelievable.
I have never read a gay theme romance novel (in fact, I have never read a romance novel period). I liked the interaction between the main characters although I did feel the plot was a bit trite at times. I enjoyed the developing love between the two main characters and liked them as people. It was not War and Peace but I really didn’t expect that. It was a fun read for a diversion.
I read this book a while ago. But, I remember I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m tempted to reread it actually. But… I have way too many books on my to read list.
I enjoyed how the characters were allowed to be honest, but still had to deal with their own self-deception on occasion. Sparkling dialogue; and compassionate families made for a nice change of pace in this genre. I look forward to the other books in the series!
Absolutely loved this story!!! Maddox and Damon are wonderful characters that fight with being in past relationships that labeled them. Together, they know that labels don’t matter, just loving each other is all they need. Damon has always been gay, but Maddox is just coming to terms that he’s bi. I loved these two guys together. And there are so many good side characters as well. Can’t wait to read Matt and Noah’s story!
Fake relationship is one of my favourite tropes and this book is not any different. I absolutely loved Damon and Maddox together. I also loved Stacy, Maddox’s best friend and Damon’s sister. The fake relationship part is very short though (2 days?). I wished it was a little more longer so that we can get to the I’m-kissing-him-for-real-but-he-thinks-it-is-all-fake phase. I really liked this story and I’m excited to read Matt and Noah’s story!!!
First book by this author and definitely not my last. Loved everything about it. Can’t wait for the continuation of the series.

Maddox O’Shay needs a date fast. His ex-girlfriend, Chastity Wells, is getting married and he needs to bring a date. The only problem is that he told her the reason he broke up with her is that he is gay, which he isn’t. Luckily his best friend, Stacy King asks her brother to be his date for the weekend.
Damon King had plans of being a professional baseball player until an injury sent him in another career direction, sports agent. Stacy promises Damon that he will be able to meet a “big sports star” by accompanying Maddox to his hometown.
How far will Maddox go to convince those around him that he is gay and what will the cost be? As Maddox and Damon each are confronted with things from their pasts will they be able to trust each other and figure out their own truths?
I wasn’t too sure what to expect with this book but I truly loved it from start to finish.
Maddox was such a great character and although some will definitely be offended that he said he was gay to get out of a relationship I could see it happening. There was something happening with Maddox and I loved learning more about his back story as it made everything fall into place with how he was with Damon.
I loved Damon from beginning to end as he really was a stand up guy but at the same time he had gone through a lot in the past and really didn’t want to be an “experiment”. I could see why he was reluctant to do anything but at the same time he was there to help Maddox and he did.
I loved the chemistry between Maddox and Damon and they were so hot together! I loved how everything slowly fell into place yet there were still some twists and turns that left the reader wondering how everything was going to play out.
The end at Damon’s graduation was awesome and terrible at the same time and I was shocked at what happened!!
I can’t wait for the next book in the series! – By Rebecca
Did you like Fake Out by Eden Finley, book one of the Fake Boyfriend series? You will probably love Trick Play then. Personally, I thought it was better than book one. While I loved Damon and Maddox’s relationship, I was always curious about Matt and Noah, and finding out at the end of book one that they were being thrown together was enough to make me want to devour book 2…and I did. I read it in one sitting and had a hard time putting it down.
Noah is so much more than the front he puts up in front of his friends, and Matt is able to see it from almost the beginning. It was only supposed to be a fake relationship, something to throw off the wolves (aka the paparazzi), but slowly it started to feel real. It may not last though. They have to overcome hurdles that are larger than Noah’s ego and attitude, and if you want to know more, you will need to read this book for yourself.
Noah was intriguing and finding out his backstory makes you look at him through different eyes. He is a lot more complicated than you might initially believe. Matt is more than just a dumb jock, and I have to say that I felt sorry for him on more than one occasion. This book made me shiver with anticipation and growl in frustration, but it was really good. The plot is very character driven and any other men in their situation wouldn’t have worked, but they are Noah and Matt. They bring this story to life. The story itself was interesting, although had a couple of things I shook my head at. It wasn’t enough to distract and in a certain way added to the story. I’m giving this one 4.5 stars and recommend you one click it today.
This was my first Eden Finley book but I can guarantee it won’t be my last! This book really was amazing and SO funny. I can’t tell you how many times I found myself laughing out loud.
Maddox aka Maddy (I hated that nickname for him) is a sexy jokester that doesn’t take life serious and HATES confrontation. So much that he’ll lie about being gay to break it off with his girlfriend just to get a clean break. What he doesn’t realize is that one little..ok big lie will come back to bite him on the ass.
In comes Damon, Maddox’s best friends brother. Who happens to actual be gay. Damon finally agreed to pretend to be Maddox’s boyfriend and go home to his family’s house for the weekend. What he doesn’t count on is the “straight guy” kissing him and hitting on him.
When these two get together it definitely isn’t happily ever after right away. They have their issues but their bond helps them overcome them all. They had great chemistry and the sex was pretty good but could’ve been turned up some more in my opinion. Can’t wait for Matt & Noah’s book!!
