She never suspected her new perfect boyfriend was her undercover security…but then again, he never expected to fall in love with his assignment. When shy Addison Reginalds moves to the small town of Cyrano, Wyoming to start her new life under a new name, she’s ready for anything. Well, she’s ready for anything…except Colton Parker. Nothing could have prepared this sheltered heiress for the … have prepared this sheltered heiress for the hottie deputy with his sexy smiles and flirty charm. After a lifetime of avoiding the spotlight, she’s not used to being noticed, let alone pursued by a guy as charming and charismatic as Colton. Not unless they have ulterior motives, at least. But here in this small town, no one knows her true identity, right? So maybe she’s ready to give love another shot. Even if Colton does seem too good to be true…
When Addison’s father hires Colton to be her security detail without her knowledge, he assumes she’s going to be the sort of spoiled brat he’s seen time and time again come through their tiny little ski town. But then he gets close and realizes…she’s not what he expects. But maybe that’s all part of her act. Because Addison Reginalds can’t really be this sweet or this trusting. Her whole wide-eyed innocent routine, the way she devotes all her time to the kids’ charity—she’s too good to be true. Definitely too good for a notorious player like him. Besides, even if she is as perfect as she seems, he’s got plans for the money her father promised. Plans he’s not about to throw away just because his new assignment makes his jaded heart feel something. Something alarmingly like love…

Fake Dating the Unsuspecting Heiress is the first book in the Fake Dates series. Addison has moved to a new town to start fresh, to prove to herself that she can thrive on her own, and to get out from under her father’s influence. On her very first day, she runs into Colton, a man with a reputation and secrets, but she can’t help but hope. When the truth comes out, will Addison be able to forgive Colton?
This book was so sweet and full of heart! I loved the pace of the storyline, the connection between the characters, and while there were secrets, I loved getting to see both characters and their intentions! Addison and Colton had a lot of depth that you couldn’t help but fall for them both and cheer them towards a happily ever after. Addison hides a lot of her inner strength behind her shyness, but I loved when she stood up for herself and came more and more out of her shell in every scene. Colton might have had a bad boy reputation, but I loved that underneath his grins held some insecurities and a drive to succeed. Together, they found something that neither expected and there was a lot of laughter, joy, and fun! This is a sweet romance that I didn’t want to put down!
Another fast and fun read by Dalton. Coulton is the Sheriff’s deputy at a small resort town in Wyoming. Addison’s rich father found his ad for security services and contacted him to protect his daughter for the month she plans to visit his town. He checks in every day giving more instructions. He wants Coulton to befriend her so to stay close and his attempts to get to know her have been surprisingly dismal. As he grows to understand why she is so distrusting and begins to fall for her, I began reading with my breath held fearing things would not go well between them. And, shucks, I was right! Will Coulton be able to get a second chance?
I love Maggie Dallen’s stories, whether high school YA (she is the grand master of these) or contemporary. You can see why in Fake Dating the Unsuspecting Heiress (Fake Dates Book 1). Yes, this standalone tale qualifies as a “Sweet Romance” but the lack of graphic eroticism doesn’t take away from how wonderful an adult romantic tale this is. That’s chiefly because how beautifully complex the characters are from Addison (total mixture of sheltered innocence and strength of character) and Colton (perfect good guy / bad boy mix, even though he’s convinced he’s just the latter) on down. Even the supporting characters are wonderfully drawn (I’m really hoping that some of them will feature in future Fake Dates books). Add in a perfect plot that’s perfectly written. The result is total enjoyment that’s (very) highly recommended.
Wanting to get out of her overprotective dad’s eye, Addison moves from LA to a small town in Wyoming. Though Addison is an heiress, she’s very shy and very frumpy. So when Colton, the hottie deputy in her new town shows an interest in her, she gets very suspicious of him…after all, the only other time a guy showed her any interest, was when her dad paid someone to do so! When Addison finally let Colton get close to her, she once again gets her heartbroken when she finds out that Colton’s intentions are not real…or are they? Great read!
Another Excellent Hallmarkie Romance. If you like Hallmark type romances, Dallen is absolutely an author you’re going to want to check out. In fact, from that angle the only real quibble here is that the epilogue is primarily setup from secondary characters for the next book – as they are talking about the primary characters from this book. Beyond that, typical sweet romance with a bit of fairly quickly resolved drama at the end. On a more personal note, this is Book 200 on the year for me – a personal record I never thought I’d achieve and one that will likely stand for many years. Very much recommended.
