What wonderful world-building with exceptional characterization and lots of action well depicted. The book is well-plotted and moves quickly keeping the reader entertained and curious about what happens next. The story is credible which for me, is critical and lacking in many fantasy books. I would give it five stars but for the opening chapter that needs editing and the book is too short for a fantasy book. It ends too soon and too abruptly, for me. Clearly, it’s the beginning of a really good series! I recommend it for the exceptional characterization and dramatic action alone.
What an original story!! Good stuff.
This was quite the original story! I don’t think I’ve ever come across anything like it and I enjoyed every moment of it. Within the first few pages it draws you in to the story’s world for a snark and sass filled quest from beginning to end. It is quite well balanced with tremendous action, intrigue, and humor and characters that are quite interesting. I loved it and can’t wait to dig into the next book!
Faith and Fury was an entirely new and exciting adventure.
Rift warden Vacinne LeDroux seeks out the black blade, Renlar, to help with her impossible task of hunting down a Vorthon demon, and locating a missing Warden and his team. She soon realizes that Renlar holds a mysterious past that may have some association with her organization at the Kothari temple. They set out on an adventurous journey through mountains, frost giant territory, and meet various magical creatures.
Most of my initial notions on the protagonists were changed through their amazing development. I found Renlar and Vacinne to be interesting and relatable in their differences, and fun to follow on their adventure.
As with all great books, I am now inextricably invested in their adventure and can’t wait to read he sequel.
A good start to what could be an epic series. Tiger Hebert draws you into the world of Vacinne LeDroux, a Rift Warden charged with investigating the disappearance of a fellow Warden. Her journey quickly leads to a massacred village and a powerful demon summoned from hell itself. Without the strength or experience to fight the demon on her own, she hires a Rift Hunter named Black Blade. Together, they set out to find the missing Warden and track down the demon and kill it before hell itself is unleashed. With demons, frost giants, magic wielders, and a dragon to name a few things blocking their path, what could possibly go wrong?
Do yourself a favor and check out this quick and fun read. It’s one helluva ride!
In Faith and Fury we follow Vacinne on her quest to find a missing Warden and his company. Instead she fights a demon which can give birth to other demons under the right conditions. She realizes she needs help and eventually meets and enlists the help of The Black Blade, one of the best mercenaries there is. During their journey they meet a former companion of his, who soon becomes a thorn in their side. Also Vacinne starts to take a harder look at her beliefs and the rest of the world.
This book starts at a run and keeps going at a sprint for the rest of the book. The characters are interesting and learn to work together when the need arises. They have their flaws and must learn to push through them to trust. The magic they use is as unique as the people who wield it and how they gain it is unique to each person also.
As a small warning, the story ends on a cliffhanger and we are all going to have to wait with baited breath for the next part of the story. Hopefully it comes out soon.
