5 stars – I loved it!
Charles and Anna have been tasked with helping the FBI track down a serial killer who has killed three werewolves. They quickly realize that the victims weren’t only werewolves but fae, and that the killer is targeting only supernaturals.
This was a very interesting adventure for Anna and Charles. Charles is struggling to deal with his guilt from killing so many wolves for minor infractions. It has put a strain on Anna and Charles’ relationship. Bran sends them to help the FBI hoping that it will give Charles a break and allow him to work off some of his guilt. I actually enjoyed that this one was more about Charles issues instead of Anna’s. It makes him more human and relatable. Their relationship has come a long way since the first book and you can really see that in this one. They become stronger with every issue they face, which is how it should be.
One of the things that I really enjoyed about this book was the cooperation between the humans, fae, and wolves. They are all working together to bring down this serial killer and it just made a more suspenseful hunt. I found Alistair Beauclaire very fascinating, and surprisingly emotional and caring for being a fae. I really want to know more about him.
This was a thrilling and emotional hunt for Charles and Anna. I think this might be my favorite adventure of theirs so far. I can’t wait to see what mission they will be given next.
Trigger Warnings: Rape, Murder,
Fair Game is by far my favorite in the Alpha & Omega series. I read this back in 2012 and listened to the audiobook in 2017.
Fair Game has the perfect blend of action, character development, and romance. This novel opened up the door to other supernatural creatures. We see Anna and Charles get involved with a human FBI member and others to solve the murders happening.
Anna has changed and gown since the beginning of the series. She’s slowly developing into a strong women/werewolf as she begins to realize her worth. Charles is a favorite character, I just love reading about him and I love how narrator Holter Graham brings Charles to life. Just having both Anna and Charles POV was great. We are showing that he issn’t the monster everyone thinks he is and Anna can take charge of a situation and stand tall now that she is more comfortable in her skin.
The plot is strong and the setting is fantastic. Briggs blends action and romance splendidly. What I enjoy is how blended everything is and I also enjoy that Briggs doesn’t over do the romance scenes. She has just the right amount and makes them count.
Aug. 2017 Audio Listen: I really love Narrator Holter Graham. He does s superb job narrating the Alpha & Omega series. He is perfect for the characters and his voice is wonderful to hear. He brings the characters to life. It’s wonderful!! Just listening to this audiobook for Fair Game made me want to try out my favorite series by Briggs, the Mercy Thomson series, in audio. As for Fair Game it was amazing and it felt like the first time reading!
Fair Game is undoubtedly a strong novel in the Alpha & Omega series. I adore Briggs writing and loved Holter’s narration. I highly recommend the Alpha & Omega series as well as the Mercy Thompson series. Both are wonderful reads!!
Rated: 5 Stars
I love this author. Their is so much depth to her characters.
The wolves are out, and Charles has the overwhelming task of dealing with those not following the rules. Need a break, he and Anna end up going to help the FBI in regards to some missing wolves. I liked seeing Anna really taking charge. The scene when they first arrive and meet the agents is one of my favorites – I like how there is a playful moment between her nad Charles and also managing and teaching the agents. I like Leslie nad kind of hope she pops up more in the series too.
Well written
Men are so silly, whether werewolf or human. Always trying to protect their mates, but never letting their mate help! Adam from the Mercy Thompson series did the same.
At least he chose the right priority after everything went down.
This book is a vital book in the Mervy Thompson world and should be read in chronological order with the Mercy Thompson series.
Oh, and it’s really freaking good!
I love this series!! This is another great part of their story and they grow and change through the challenges that they each confront.
Patricia Briggs always nails it. I love her books. I know its a good book when I want to read is several times.
Oh boy. This one is such a game changer for the Mercyverse. The things that go down! OH MY GOSH. I’m chomping at the bit to dive into the next book. I need to know what’s going to happen.
It’s been a few books now since I’ve gotten to spend some time with Anna and Charles and I have missed them. Their dynamic is so great even though they’re going through a rough patch in this one. Charles is having a tough time and is closing himself off. But we know our Anna is absolutely having none of that.
I definitely also enjoyed the plot of this one. The addition of a serial killer murder mystery worked well in this world and seeing how werewolves and witches and fae could be of help here was pretty cool. These murders are so sick and twisted and I wanted to see the culprit get what they deserved. I also liked trying to solve the mystery along with the story and I just wanna say I KNEW IT.
Fair Game was yet another great addition to this world and I had a great time catching up with Charles and Anna and Brother Wolf. I am definitely ready though to get back to Mercy and Adam.
I love this series and look forward to every new book that comes out in it.
I’ve never read a book by Patricia Briggs that wasn’t great, even in her early days. I highly recommend anything by Patricia Briggs.
Love all her books!
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Fair Game by Patricia Briggs is the fourth book in the Alpha and Omega series, a Mercy Thompson spin-off series that still ties back into the Mercyverse (and actually falls to about the 17th story in the Mercyverse!). This series follows Charles and Anna. Charles is the Marrok’s son and Enforcer, an uber alpha wolf. Anna is an Omega wolf, she brings out the protective instincts in any wolf and is also able to withstand the machinations of alpha power. This amazing storyline is jam packed with action, drama, humor, angst, love, horror, betrayal and redemption. Patricia Briggs creates world where the things that go bump in the night are out in the open. They might even live next door to you or be your dentist or doctor…. A fantastic read with characters you won’t want to put away!
Another fabulous series from Patricia Briggs. This is a spin-off from the Mercedes Thompson, but gives more insight into side characters from the Mercy series. I love being able to see more from them. This series focuses more on romance than Mercy’s world, but it still delivers a solid story. I love the hero and heroine and find their story super endearing.
***Content Warning: This one had two scenes (though one was barely a blip), and one of them made me a touch uncomfortable. Not as bad as many of the urban fantasy series are, and still vague enough that I think it falls in the PG-13 level, but it is by far the longest and most graphic that I’ve read of Briggs’s works. It’s fairly easy to skip and the rest of the book doesn’t have a sexy vibe to it
Great read fast pasted and very saucy. Love the writing and all the characters.
Loved it!!
This delightful companion series to the Mercy Thompson books just proves again what a terrific writer Patricia Briggs is.
Borrowed from the library.
Starting with my only qualm about this book. There’s a LARGE time gap between the events/the end of Hunting Ground and the beginning of Fair Game. It’s been a while since I read the first five books in the Mercy Thompson series, so I can’t remember if they make an appearance in those books and it would help fill in some of the (I think 3 year) gap. It just seems strange.
Other than that, I truly loved this book. And I’m beginning to think I may love the Alpha & Omega series more than the Mercy Thompson series *le gasp*. Or it could just be that I’m obsessed with the Mercy Thompson world and I’m devouring anything I can get my hands on with any of these characters.
There’s plenty of action in Fair Game. Detective style (w/werewolves obvi), with multiple Alphabet soup government agencies, fae, and witches. The mystery serial killer wasn’t someone so obvious that I was bored, but it also didn’t come as a huge surprise. Speaking of action, there’s more steam/romance in this series (IMO) than Mercy’s. So, if you found the Mercy Thompson series lacking on that front, Alpha & Omega might be a better fit for you.
I think this is my favorite book in the series thus far though.
I loved this series more so then her mercy Thompson books
