Filled with complex characters, dangerous stakes, slow-burn romance, lots of tension and courageous risks, I devoured FAE’S DECEPTION in one sitting and immediately begged M. LYNN and MELISSA A. CRAVEN for more. You’ll binge this series, I promise.
This is one of those books that once your start, you can’t stop. The books are short, but they do such a good job of packing in so much information and so many twists and turns.
An absolute gem! Loved this start to the series!!!!
I fell in love with this series instantly! So much drama, humour, adventure, secrets, intrigue and at the heart of it all are two young women with huge hearts and fierce will. These two young ladies will surely be the ones to help save kingdoms. The book opens where we meet a young, magic free fae princess named Alona..She knows on her eighteenth birthday that without magic she’ll be relegated to the servant class. Yet still she has a huge heart, cheery disposition, and longs to start her life as she wants. We’re led to believe this book will be all about her, and in part it is… However she’s quickly kidnapped and we don’t see her again until much later. Next we’re suddenly on earth meeting another young girl named Brea. Yet unlike princess Alona, she’s not had an easy life. Most of her life she’s been in and out of mental institutions and repeatedly told the things she sees are not in fact real. After all, often seeing people with pointy ears is not exactly the norm. Yet on the day of her release, and journey back to the land of school her entire world is upended. Nope, not telling you what happened to break her heart, but she DOES end up in the fae lands against her will. Can she believe what she sees, or will she convince herself it’s a delusion? Why in the name of Jon Snow is she here in the first place? Brea will need to open her eyes and truly see all around her. Open her heart and finally become the person she’s intended to be. Through it all we meet amazingly interesting characters. Yet there is a HUGE web of deceit that even the reader must decide what’s truth and what’s lie. There’s never a dull moment, that’s for certain! I’m holding out hope these awesome women will join forces soon. In the meantime I can’t wait to read book two and see how the royal intrigue, betrayal, secrets and adventure escalate .
Sexy Fae, Deception, Conflict & A New Realality!!
Fae’s Deception: Queens Of The Fae #1
Brea Robinson has ‘seen’ things since she was younger. Strangers suddenly morphed in front of her eyes & had pointed ears & flashing, bright coloured eyes, they terrified her & still did! Then as she grew older, her emotions would swing wildly out of control until she’d explode into fits of rage she had no control over! Her Parents sent her into an institution for mentally unstable delinquents after she sent her Mum crashing into their Christmas Tree!
Returning to school in the new year, her only friend, Myles, tries to protect her from the worst of the rumours & cruelty! After a huge confrontation against some of his own football team, her temper explodes again as they attack Myles! She awakes being arrested for the assault of Myles. They tell her he may not survive, She’s completely devastated. When she’s told she’s being transferred & that her parents have signed over their parental rights, she’s numb!! After hours of travel things then get ultra weird. She notices the Policeman’s eyes keep on flashing brightly. She knows something is very wrong & once they stop she runs!! A guy stops her, says he’s called Griff & he’s there to save her from Lochlan, the Policeman. She feels a wave of safety rush through her & though Lochlan begs her not to trust Griff she does – then she’s ripped from Earth into the Fae Realm!!
This book is full of intrigue, wonderous magic, sexy Fae, Court secrets, lies & partial truths!! There’s some great characters that you can’t help but like & others you just loathe, the World’s are breath taking! I can’t wait for the next book in this series to see what decisions are made, which alliances can survive or new ones be made & if years of hate can be mended!

Brea is a very likable character with her spunkiness and determination. Griff and Loch are two opposites but both are likable and I expect to see better things with Griff soon. Even Finn is a great character as Loch’s close friend. Story is steady paced and very interesting. Hated when it ended. This series will be eyeballing my top of the year.
I really enjoyed Fae’s Deception: Queen’s of the Fae Book 1. It was an easy read that kept me intrigued all the way through.
The book revolves around Brea Robinson, a small town girl from Ohio who may or may not be crazy. Throw in a potential murder she can’t quite remember committing, a whole other world she didn’t even know existed, two men finding a place in her heart, and some pretty big revelations set to flip the world as she knows it upside down, and this was one incredible book I found hard to put down.
I can’t wait to find out what happens next in book 2.
Fae’s Deception is Book 1 in the Queens of the Fae series by M. Lynn and Melissa A. Craven. This is an awesome start to a new series. The world building is excellent and the character development is great. We have two female main characters (Alona and Brea), the O’Shea bothers (Lochlan and Griffin), and three kingdoms (Fargelsi, Eldur, and Iskalt) with Vatland is between. This is an exceptionally well written and intriguing story that draws you in and keeps you turning pages to the last. I highly recommend this book. Looking forward to the next in series to see what these two superb authors have in store for these characters. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was so excited to read this book. It’s a new M. Lynn book and it’s fae. When I found out she was co-writing a fae book I screamed. I’m such a big fan of fae books. Plus this summary give me such A Court of Thorns and Roses vibes.
We step into this world of magic with our main character Brea who has always seen faces of creatures in others. She’s never been able to control her emotions and the people around her get hurt. She ends up being sent to a mental hospital for the death of her best friend who we meet for a little bit at the beginning of the book. He was such a relatable character to readers and I wish we got to see more of him.
The world she’s wicked away to is somewhat at war. There are three rulers each having their own realm and each having different kinds of magic and limits to their magic.
The world-building is very interesting. We do get to see just a small fraction of the world mentioned but it’s fascinating. I hoping for some more adventure scenes in the next book so they can explore the world more.
In this book, Brea and we as readers don’t know who we can trust or who we should believe. There’s some small romance action going on but it’s not overpowering and isn’t the center of the whole book.
I loved all the pop-culture references in this book, Outlander, Game of Thornes, Harry Potter and A Court of Thrones and Roses made me feel like I was part of the story. I was able to connect more to them because I knew what they were talking about. It also just showed us how the fae world is living next to the human world. I also thought it was super funny how she would say all these slang human terms and everyone would be confused. It really helped that the main characters of the fae world weren’t walking around saying whats up. Another great thing was how accepting this book is of LGBTQ beliefs.
I loved how the prologue fits in perfectly with the rest of the book. I really enjoyed all the characters and all the plot twists that they included. I definitely did not see that ending coming.
The story overall is about her life in the fae world and struggling to know what is the truth and what is a lie. Who is trying to deceive her? Plus it has some sexy fae. Who wouldn’t want to read about that?
I loved the idea of the book. The tree realms, all the different magic powers were super great. The story was a bit fast at the beginning but after a few pages it slowed down. It was well-written, adventurous and there were nail-biting parts as well. The main reason I decided to give it a 4 star because Brea’s character. It could be more interesting to see Griff’s side than Brea’s. I can’t feel that she became close to my heart. But all in all it is still worth to read it.
An engaging read sprinkled with a pinch of Shakespeare for flavor. No, they don’t speak in Middle English. That might make this place seem normal, maybe.
Ohio seems like another world because it is. Brea has been dragged away to trade one crazy place for another kind of weird.
Self doubt is a scary place to live. It respects no borders or political parties and if one is not very very careful, it can drive you mad. Then they’ll win and Brea Robinson can’t let that happen. She must fight however she can to keep her head on her shoulders and her mind in one piece. “Faeries are not trustworthy,” Myles’ books caution. If she is to believe her eyes or the rest of her senses, she is one too. Not only is she stuck in this circular reasoning loop, she has to try her best to avoid the traps set by her devious relatives. With family like hers, who needs enemies?

Good book full of adventure and magic. The characters are well done and the story flows well and keeps you interested.
Fae’s Deception started off a bit slow for me and it took me a bit to really be sucked in, but I think that’s because I was really trying to figure out how the prologue fit in with the story. I eventually figured it out and I have to say I love how the authors gave this book a bit of a twist. Once I got sucked in, I couldn’t put it down and fell in love with the world and characters these authors have created for us.
Brea has been in and out of trouble her whole life and recently ended up in the hospital. She sees things and people think she’s crazy. Her only light in this world is her best friend Myles. Except when he ends up injured and she even believes he’s dead, he world is falling apart. That’s when she’s taken to a different world and her whole life is turned upside down.
It’s clear Brea has been through a lot and it’s really hard. She’s even starting to believe she is crazy like everyone else. From the start I really felt for her, but I thought she was such a strong character. Especially when she ends up in a whole new world. I definitely wouldn’t have stayed as calm as she did. Brea fights for her life and it’s clear she’s trying to figure out who to trust and her place in this new world.
Fae’s Deception is a great mix of fantasy and the world we all know. I loved the adventure of her discovering the magic of the fae. The world is described beautifully and really makes me want to take a visit. The authors gave us a great world and amazing side characters. I honestly didn’t know who to trust. There are tiny twists and turns that really kept me on my toes. What I loved the most was also the references to books and things in our world that I love. I definitely laughed a few times. Brea has such an interesting journey and I can’t wait to see how it continues.
I really hope we get a bit more of a glimpse of Myles and how that will play out. I need just a bit more about that. Also, I’m looking forward to getting to know some of the amazing cast of side characters better. I have a feeling we haven’t seen anything yet!
Just finished this wonderful fantasy adventure story.
I so enjoyed it , immensely.
This was another book that I couldn’t put down. I would loved to have read it in one go but life got in the way.
It was such a thrill to feel a part of Brae’s journey through the Fae world and a surprisingly different ending to what I expected.
Full of action, passion but also deceit and lies. Your normal adventure story but nothing ordinary about this one.
Extraordinary more like it.
No spoilers from me just a whole hearted recommendation.
Bring on the next soon please.
Is it possible to have enjoyed a book this much?? There were a few small things about the MC that irritated me at first but I grew to adore her as she went through everything she did. The storytelling was brilliant and I enjoyed it immensely. I hold a very high standard to any sort of stories about the Fae and this one was no exception at all. Get your hands on this and read it as fast as you can! You will not be disappointed
This book is the first in a new series that I can’t wait to read more of. I loved the world-building and the characters. I felt the story flowed with plenty of action and character interaction. As the title states there is plenty of deception in this story! I look forward to getting my hands on book two.
Fae’s Deception is the first book in the Queens of the Fae series.
Final Rating: 5 Stars
Wow! What a great start to this series! The world building is just incredible and you can easily visualise it. The storyline is addictive and is full of drama, intrigue, adventure and so much more. The characters are fantastic and I absolutely adore Brea as we follow her into the fae realm! Cannot wait to read more!
**I received an eARC of this book via the authors. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.**
With all the Fae stories coming out this year, I was a little concerned before picking this one up how it would stand out. Y’all those concerns were for nothing! Fae’s Deception by the writing duo M. Lynn & Melissa A. Craven is a fantastic, unputdownable read! Full of the beauty and deception you’ve come to expect from the Fae, this book stands out in the sea of others with an intricate plot, Fae brothers, and a fantastic lead.
“Brea Robinson is a murderer.” Pretty ominous start to a blurb, but one that holds true to the story. Brea is not your average human girl. Her entire life she’s seen things others can’t. She gets glimpses of jewel-toned, glowing eyes and pointed ears, a power thrums in her veins, and it’s this power that lands her in a mental institution for her “anger outbursts.” After one of these outbursts leaves her friend grievously injured, Brea finds herself in prison only to abducted by Fae. Everything she saw, her powers, all of it is now explained as she finds herself in the Fae’s world. But looks can be deceiving, and with her heart avoiding the possibility that she killed her best friend, Brea finds herself torn, not sure who to believe as two Fae brothers raised in separate kingdoms, warn her of danger.
Griffin is the first of the brothers we encounter and by far the most charming. He takes Brea to the Fargelsi realm, a realm of eternal Spring. Everything here is beautiful, but beauty hides the things that are deadly: a calm lake with a deadly current, sweet berries that deaden your magic, but those are nothing compared to the Fae that Brea now lives among. Griff however is different, at least that’s what Brea believes. He’s kind and charming, the complete opposite of his brother. He empathizes with her and offers her comfort when she has none.
Then there’s Lochlan. He’s my favorite of the two. A broody Fae prince, raised in the desert realm of Eldur, Lochlan is the opposite of his brother in more than just looks. He speaks the truth, even when that truth hurts, and his one mission is to protect Brea, if she’ll let him. He’s intriguing, and I hope to learn more about him in the books to come.
The plot of this story revolves around Brea and her role in the Fae realms. Why have they taken her? What is this power that lives under her skin? Why can’t she control it? All of those questions are addressed and play out through the plot. While I’ll admit, this story starts off a little slow, by the midway point I couldn’t sit it down. The beginning serves as a way to build the world slowly as Brea encounters it (which I love, very immersive!) and let’s not forget she’s grieving. Despite this, I felt it was true to Brea and what she experiences. I love how the authors bring you into her story through her eyes.
Overall I really enjoyed Fae’s Deception. It’s a fantastic start to a new series. Brea is amazing and the O’Shea brothers intriguing. I cannot wait to dive into the next one. Thank God this is a rapid release series so the wait isn’t long! If you are a fan of Holly Black or Fae stories in general, you will love this one!
*I received a free copy of this book to proofread, but I loved the book so much I had to review!
When two of my favorite authors/bookish friends said they were writing a fae series, I was beyond excited. I was also kind of nervous because I have pretty high standards for fae books, and I didn’t really know what to expect. But it was unwarranted. Like all the other books they’ve written, I loved this one!
The world building is absolutely beautiful. There are three different kingdoms warring for power, each with unique qualities: Fargelsi, with its lush forests, Eldur, the fire realm, and Iskalt, the icy kingdom. There are also the Vatlands between them–a swampy, creepy area full of creatures. Everything is so vivid and well described; they really paint a picture.
The characters are fantastic. Brea’s growth just in this first book is amazing, making me wonder what’s in store for book 2. Griff and Loch are… I love them both for different reasons. I had a feeling early on I’d love Loch, even though he’s not liked by the main characters. Because I’m super anti-spoilers, I will not tell you whether those feelings lasted… Oh, also, I adore Finn. He’s not in very much of the story, but I am pretty sure he’s going to be my series favorite.
The story overall is well written and intriguing. The authors did a great job of pulling me right in from the beginning. I loved seeing Brea explore this new world and find out all these hidden twists and truths. It was a fun read, while still holding a certain amount of intensity and emotion I’d expect from these two.
If you like YA fantasy, I highly recommend checking out Fae’s Deception. I cannot wait for book 2, Fae’s Defiance!!
*I received a copy from the author. This does not affect my review. This review is voluntary.*
I…loved it! Well, maybe not at first. I did kind of dislike Brea’s initial character, and her way of dealing with and seeing things happening around her, but loved her growth as the story progresses, and really enjoyed seeing her with some of the other characters later on. What I did like from the start was the lush and perilous world dear Brea has found herself in, and getting to know how the world and plot are set up. I really enjoyed the world-building and seeing how the Fae culture and interactions play out, and can’t wait to see more of this in the next book! Just in this book alone, the characters have developed into more complex personalities, and with the story set up, I’m looking forward to seeing their journey as well as getting to know more about their background in the next book!
I did not like Brea much. I found myself sympathetic to her through the whole book, but until the big reveal at the end of the book I did not like her much. I am very intrigued by Alona and I can’t wait to read more from her point of view. I like how the series is shaping and I can’t wait for more!
