My college roommate is the worst. Cecile steals my food, brings guys over at all hours, and parties instead of studying. But those quirks pale in comparison to what she does next. She drugs me, and I wake up imprisoned in an alternate universe full of terrifying creatures. Now, the biggest and scariest creature of all–a fae king–believes I’m his mate. He’s freed me from the dungeon but keeps me … dungeon but keeps me close. So close, in fact, that I’m beginning to like his wintery gaze and ice-chiseled body. But secrets and villains lurk throughout this new world, and I don’t know if I’ll survive long enough to figure out how to get back home.
Author’s Note: Fae’s Captive is the first book in a series that will set your imagination–and other parts of you–on fire. Mind the cliff, but book 2 is already out.

OMG, these books just blew my mind! The best paranormal romance I’ve ever read! The writing, the world-building, the characters – everything is just superbly done. Highly recommend!!!
I love the storyline! two worlds containing the faes and humans.. replacements, enslavement, the winter and summer worlds. politics, assassination, and a looming unknown threat. everything was great! i loved the idea behind everything! the whole thing with mates and bonding, suspense, action, and the sizzling buildup between the two main characters. all was enjoyable except that i wished it was a longer book. feels like it just ended too soon
This one really appealed to me and though of novella length captured my imagination and attention almost instantly here.
This is the story of Taylor and Leander: Taylor a human girl finds herself transported to the world of the fae taking the place of another changeling.
Here she comes to the attention of Leander the Winter King who recognises her as his mate.
So as I mentioned this was short and I do believe this and the second book would have been better served as one complete volume rather than two novellas: still I really enjoyed this immensely and even though I don’t often give the full five stars to such short reads this made enough of an impression on me that I just had to go with my gut here.
This was actioned packed and also had some interesting secondary characters introduced here.
I am starting the next instalment here immediately.
You can currently borrow this and book two with your KU subscription if you have one.

A great start to a new series about fae.
Full of drama and steam that kept me swiping to the very end
The beginning of a cool saga, I got swept away in the story right from the start! With an interesting plot, varied characters and building tension, it was hard to put down once I started reading it.
I’m not a fan of cliffhangers, but I enjoyed this book and did get the rest. Very nice worldbuilding!
I picked this up on a whim from the author at a book signing, actually I purchased the first four books bundled in a hardback copy and I’m beyond happy that I did. This series is written under a pen name by one of my go to authors, so I thought, yeah! Let’s give it a go!
I’m so pleasantly surprised, each installment is relatively short so I devoured this one in an afternoon. An afternoon of pure delightful escape. It’s fantasy, so let go and immerse yourself in these strong characters, captivating story line and laugh out loud moments, because in some instances these characters don’t even know what the other is saying!
I was transported from the very first page and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
This story was simply OUTSTANDING! I quickly found myself sucked into another world. Archer paints a perfect picture for readers with her amazing world building abilities. I felt like I could be right there with Leander and Taylor throughout the whole book. The main characters captivated my heart and I couldn’t get enough of Leander’s alpha personality! Even the supporting characters, Gareth and Lenetia stole a piece of my heart. I really hope that they get their own stories down the road because I would be all over that book in a heartbeat. This story has enough action, suspense, romance, and adventure that you won’t be able to put it down for a minute. My only problem is this book felt too short and that darn cliffhanger just about killed me!!! I look forward to book 2 and I am super thankful it’s already out, so I don’t have to wait. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for readers.
Quite good I must say. I’ve read tons of fae books by now and this one held my attention all the way. I’m interested in what’s coming next, but most of all I feel like Taylor’s got secrets of her own and she even doesn’t know that she has them. I want them revealed. Dope.
Going into this, you have to know that this is a serial. It’s one novel split into parts, each “book” being one part. Fae’s Captive introduces the characters and conflict.
I thought Fae’s Captive started off with a bang. College student Taylor is tricked into entering the Fae world as a changeling. She wakes up in a nasty prison, but soon attracts the attention of the Winter Fae king who is convinced she is his mate. There’s trouble abrewin’ and they decide to get out of Dodge while the gettin’ is good.
Of course, the “story” ends on cliffhanger.
This was a fast, enjoyable read. I liked the intrigue, the characters, the world-building. Can’t wait to read part 2!
AMAZING BOOK!!!! AMAZING SERIES!!!! Not like anything I’ve ever read before. The characters are incredible the author makes you feel their emotions and puts you IN the story.
Loved discovering another fantasy romance author. I really got involved in the story.
Warning: it is a serial so it has a killer cliff-hanger. 🙂
Taylor, a college student with an unfortunate room mate, finds herself an accidental changeling in the summer court of the fae. This series does mess with the tradition changeling child rules because Taylor is definitely not a baby. BUT I think it has been well though out and well plotted. This has been a great KU book, and I will be inhaling the rest of the series post haste! Great for Irish fairy court fans!
Fae’s Captive by Lily Archer is book One in the Fae’s Captive Series. This starts the story of Taylor and Leander. This story starts with Taylor in the modern time trying to put herself through college. Taylor has a roommate named Cecile who is a nightmare, but nothing she done so far compares to what she has now done Cecile has drugged her and Taylor has woke in a different realm where there are master, slaves and different Faes. Taylor is in a dungeon with a women named Lenetia who tells her where she is and what id going on. But Taylor can’t think this is real until her ‘master’ Lord Tyrios gives her a rough wake up call. Now Taylor is being called a Changeling. Leander is the King of the Fae’s and awaits is mate but no fae has met there mate in about 150 years after a curse of sorts happens. When he is going to secure a deal he starts to notice a wonderful smell that he can’t place until he meets Taylor. Leander knows immediately that she is his mate. But Taylor who is now scared of the realm is terrified of him especially after seeing is brutal side in action.
WOW…this is such a great start to their story. I could not put it down and would not put it down. I am hurrying to the next book to see what is going on next. Loved it!
Absolutely LOVED Fae’s Captive!! A truly entertaining read that had me hooked from the beginning. Really enjoyed the world building, just enough to really pique your interest without weighing the storyline down. The characters are fun and have some depth to them (since this is book one and it’s only 100 pages), still, the other characters definitely add to the story and the entertainment.
Great plot, fun characters and good twists to keep you entertained. What a great discovery this author is and I can’t wait for book three in a few days!
