New friends and allies and new powers. Kit has to team up with another vampire to find out who killed a vampire and her host. Her partner thinks the vampire was the target, but as Kit investigates she finds out the host was a faery and she was the intended target. The vampire was collateral damage. But the killer is powerful and he has faeries at his command. And Kit is also growing and evolving. She has been targeted and bonded to an Old One from faery and is treated like royalty there. They don’t want her to leave but she must get to her wedding as she is marrying her best friend and the love of her life. Hopefully. “Faerie’s Killer” the fourth installment in the “Kit Melbourne Series” by Kater Cheek, besides being a grand new adventure featuring Kit and her growth through the series, offers a crucial advantage for any reader. It could be enjoyed by brand newcomers to the series, without any knowledge whatsoever of previous events, and offers, at the same time, a very in-dept look at the growth that Kit herself has experience since her first steps into the supernatural world.
“Faerie’s Killer” is not only a fantastic urban fantasy tale, but also a very thrilling murder mystery. Kit trying to resolver the murder and bring the killer to justice, while dealing with her own mother trying to hijack her wedding and helping Morales to overcome his very special flavour of mid-live crisis…. Yes… a vampire going through the motions of loosing his stamina and lust…. for blood, I bet you did not see that coming . But crisis or not, Kit needs Morales to solve the riddle, thus pushing him through the crisis it is! It is a highly entertaining story, the murder as serious as it gets, mother and vampire as funny as they come and Kit stuck in the middle, racing to solve the crime, save the ceremony and finally get her happily ever after. The only other thing you can ask for is for the next book to come out 🙂
Kater Cheek writing style is fresh easy to follow, her storytelling impeccable, fluid, flesh and endearing, blending action and description elements into an action-packed, fast-paced, tale that combines different side lines into a thoroughly satisfying main plot. With wonderful multidimensional characters, a very good crafted world, realistic plots, this series is one of the top urban fantasy series of the moment.
