Celtic mythology blends beautifully with the modern world in this contemporary fantasy romance: The Mortal Instruments meets The Iron Fey.”If you love the tales of the ancient Celt and Fae intertwined with modern romance, then you will love the first book of this trilogy.“ ★★★★★
I never heard him come after me and even as I climbed the slope and stumbled onto our shaded back lawn, I didn’t … even as I climbed the slope and stumbled onto our shaded back lawn, I didn’t look back. It was like the day the gnomes chased me all over again, but this time I was not escaping some horrible little creatures, I was fleeing from an incredibly good-looking guy who could very well understand me completely. I was either saving myself from that serial killer I always imagined lived down in the swamp, or I had finally gone over the deep end . . .
Meghan Elam has been strange her entire life: her eyes have this odd habit of changing color and she sees and hears things no one else does. When the visions and voices in her head start to get worse, she is convinced that her parents will want to drag her off to another psychiatrist. That is, until the mysterious Cade MacRoich shows up out of nowhere with an explanation of his own.
Cade brings her news of another realm where goblins and gnomes are the norm, a place where whispering spirits exist in the very earth, and a world where Meghan just might find the answers she has always sought.

Read the complete series
This book was wonderful ! I found myself getting up in the middle of the night to read.
Well written engaging story.
Can’t wait to read the next one
I was hooked on the entire series after reading this book.
Such a fun yet tragic page turner I couldn’t put it down! Full of unexpected thrills that keep you reading! Saving my google points to read #2. The sample read promises to be as good as the first book. Excited to read more from this author!
I really enjoyed these characters – well written and quiet but strong heroine who doesn’t jump into harm’s way for the sake of doing so. Great world-building, but not overwrought descriptions. I found myself rooting for these characters.
This book, first in the series, drew me in to the characters and world, but I found it frustrating how often the main character re-imagined the thoughts of others (“do they / don’t they” …)
Nevertheless this book was enjoyable enough that I purchased book 2 (and 3).
I knew she was Fae almost from the beginning. Took her long enough.
Kind of boring actually, and slow to get into the action.
this book did not make my expiations I found the charters boring and the girl always running running I would not buy book 2
Good read.
I had a hard time with this book. It sounded great but it was slow and kinda boring. The female lead was just something else. She had a one track mind and mostly it was on Cade which got old but it was pretty much from the time she met him til the end of the book. I liked her family though. If I dont like the female lead then eek its going to be …
This book is written for young adults and is still a good read for this older adult. I LOVE a book that starts out with a humdrum life only to find out things are not as they seem. Meghan Elam for instance, she was adopted and had a rough beginning. She saw and heard things no one else around her heard. On top of that, she was unique in her …
I liked the book but would have liked Meghan more if she had been stronger character in the story. Perhaps it’s because this more for Young Adults, I might have liked it more if the characters were older, perhaps a little more mature. But for those who are younger, they will enjoy it more then I do and since I have it in my library I can …
