Book 2 in this series. Continued story development. Forced character growth. Bargains and deals with the Fae. Increasing couple development. With each book I’m more excited to see what the characters will do and how the story will unfold. I love a slow burn romance. Some parts just make me swoon.
Fae Captive by Sarah K L Wilson is the second book in this series and picks up where the last left off.
This is an amazing series and very well written with wonderful character and rich with detail! I am so drawn in to this world, I cant put it down.
I am looking forward to the next book and highly recommend to fans of Fae stories!
Fae Captive is an amazing continuation of Allie and Scourvel’s tale.
Scourvel and his antihero ways have definitely worked their way into my heart.
I love the secret bond that forms between Allie and Scourvel. Even though neither of them really acknowledges it, it’s there.
I loved the twists and turns in their adventure.
The ending left me a little worried but also craving more. I can’t wait to embark on the next segment of their journey with them.
The second installment of Tangle Fae does not disappoint!
We dive right into the Fae world as Allie tries her best to save her dad. The world building is brilliant and I jus trove picturing it along with all the dark Fae and other strange creatures. The hint of romance between Allie and Scouvrel is great. He is such a complex character. I can’t really figure him out. Scouvrel leaves us guessing as well. The plot twist at the end was just brilliant. Absolutely marvelous. I highly recommend the audiobook. The narrator Caitlin does a fantastic job bringing the story to life.
Beautiful, captivating story! Fae Captive by Sarah K.L. Wilson is the second book in her series Tangled Fae and picks up right where book one left off. This action-packed story picks up speed on page one and doesn’t stop til its heart-rending ending. Y’all I need book three asap!
Allie is now caught in the cage and at Scouvrel’s mercy. Yet she never loses perspective. When she finds herself doubting, she slips on her scarf and sees the Fae’s true world. She never lets herself forget who the true enemy is. However….is Scouvrel really the enemy he wants her to think he is? As the reader, I was tortured with this question throughout the entire story. Allie is a force to be reckoned with and I love her, but Scouvrel kind of stole my heart a bit.
The world-building here is phenomenal. We got glimpses of it in Fae Hunter, but here Wilson takes us into the world of the Fae. It is twisted and broken. The Fae here live a lie, surrounding themselves with illusions of grandeur and beauty. When in reality, these Fae are anything but beautiful. The plot takes us on a trip through their lands as Scouvrel tries to keep Allie from her sister’s hands. Yet Allie has other ideas. She wants to free her father and go home. The question is how.
Overall I devoured Fae Captive. There is no other way to describe it. I love every word of the story so far, even the twisty bits that broke my heart. If you are a fan of faerie tales, you do not want to skip this one!
This book has so many twists and turns you don’t know what’s coming next. Edge of your seat read….Freaking loved it and I can’t wait to read the next book!
Overall rating: 4.8
This dark tale takes us even deeper into Allie Hunter’s strange destiny with the fae. Wickedness comes to mind as I read page after page. The author truly keeps my attention glued. And as every good read should do, I find myself scrambling for the next book in this series. To me, that spells success. A tale very much worth recommending, but only to readers not afraid of darkness, cruelty and evil. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
4.5 stars ~
My heart has been found (finally) so now I’m ready to write this review. I’m a little tired, so here’s to hoping it comes across eloquent enough.
Of course the moment the ARC was offered I snatched it up. I don’t often hang around Fae worlds (because they center dark magic) but when it’s painted as evil I enjoy watching how the story plays out. AND THE ENEMIES TO LOVERS TROPE. O.O I DIE EVERY TIME.
It’s like a weakness of mine . . . . ?
*clears throat* Anyways, this book was basically pure beautiful craftsmanship (I had some issues, but that’s normal.).
Setting: The Fae kingdoms and Fae fantasy world. If one were able to see it’s true nature it would be considered hellish, because the Fae live a lie (and I’m intrigued to learn more backstory because it sounds like some of them started out human???!!! *gasps*). Lovely details painted the scenery. We got a tiny glimpse of Allie’s world.
Description: WONDERFUL. MARVELLOUS. NEVER MISSING A BEAT. I was caught within its magically spun webs of words. The glistening crystal details yet terrifying actions kept my interest (if that’s not to witty for you)! lol
Plot: Well worked and surprising. I love when in the Fae world I struggle to spot cliches. It allows me to become invested in the book, because cliches don’t interrupt the flow! A twisty end and I appreciated the author’s ability to weave a deceptive Fae world. It takes a lot to be a tricky author (one that confuses me).
Romance: HAVE I NOT ALREADY SCREAMED IT??!! ENEMIES TO LOVERS FOREVER. Also the fact that they’re kinda friends now (which means it goes from enemies to friends to lovers!!!!!!!!) is freaking me out because I don’t know whether I should trust THAT BACKSTABBING TWIG OF A GUT. (AKA the *coughs* naughty Fae child who needs to be protected.) I’M IN LOVE OKAY? OKAY.
Content: Ehhh. Some crude comments. More fantasy violence than gory violence (but both were present). Some kissing scenes (not very detailed). My movie rating is PG-13 … mostly because of the violence/dark magic/crude comments. It’s actually pretty clean compared to a lot of YA.
Characters: THEY BROKE MY HEART INTO A MILLION PIECES. AND I LOVE THEM TO DEATH. Also, they’re believable with emotions and weaknesses. It’s hard to watch them fail, but it makes their victory more sweet. OH AND THEY’RE ACTUALLY LEARNING SOMETHING. They grow!! It makes me so happy to watch their arc move! ^.^
Issues: So I knocked it down half a star because there were a few typos, some info dump places, and areas that made the pacing feel off. It was enough to ruin my enjoyment of the book for those moments. I also was a little displeased by certain aspects displayed within the book…but Wilson is doing a good job at portraying evil as evil. *shrugs*
Overall: I NEED THE THIRD BOOK ASAP. O.O
**FTC DISCLOSURE** I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I’m not affiliated with the author in any way nor is my review biased. I’d like to remind you that this is my opinion, so if anything I stated bothered you, please don’t take it personally. It wasn’t meant as an attack! Thanks! 🙂
Fae Captive is book two in Sarah K.L. Wilson’s Tangled Fae series and true to form this author does a fantastic job of picking up where the first book left off and moving forward. The shoe is now on the other foot. Scouvrel struck a bargain with Allie and in the process outmaneuvered her gaining his freedom and trapping her instead. Now she is his prisoner and his to do with as he pleases. Allie is about to get a firsthand lesson of the dangers of Faewald and the fae that call it home.
Fae Captive hooked me in from the beginning, and while I felt that it was a bit slower than Fae Hunter it still kept me thoroughly engaged in the story as Allie discovers things in this world and the dangers that are soon to come for those she loves. While she managed to find useful tools in the human/mortal realm because she was not warned of the consequences of their use she is finding herself constantly in the blind. She’s found her sister and she’s found her father, but at the same time, she has lost her sister as she struggles to fight for her father. Scouvrel is a truly fascinating character and I can’t help but be drawn to him…and trapped in due course. He has his own agenda, but the author does a beautiful job of keeping that under wraps throughout the story. Scouvrel is a true manipulator and you never see it coming until you are already snared and then it is spelled out for you.
The twists in this story are so well done that you don’t even see them coming and I absolutely love it. I couldn’t get enough of it. The author has Allie adapting and gradually learning. I know that there were moments of where I felt annoyed or put out by a situation, but the author is such an expert writer that I can’t even recall the parts that cause me even the mildest amount of annoyance. LOL!
With that, I will say this…if you read the first book in this series and were immediately captivated then I highly recommend that you grab this book and start reading. While this book does have it slower spots it’s a worthwhile book to read and I am eagerly anticipating the next book in this series. I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars and I highly recommend it to those who have read the first book in this new series and/or those who are fans of Sarah K.L. Wilson’s immersive writing.
Action packed, emotionally thrilling, dangerous and exciting adventure filled with engaging charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and thrilling turns…. was a great read! Really enjoyed this journey and looking forward to what happens next!
A world of “violent fae royals, trickery, and magic”, plus thrills galore in a perfectly written and wonderfully exciting plot with a superb lead in Allie Hunter and great supporting cast (even those you root against). I loved the first book in Sarah K. L. Wilson’s new Tangled Fae series (separately reviewed), and Fae Captive (Book 2) builds on that to somehow create something even better. This is one heck of a superb book and one which I happily highly recommend.
I thoroughly enjoyed this latest book in the series. Allie is caught in a cage and must bargain to get even a little time out of it. Scouvrel is her Fae captor and loves a bargain, trade or trick. He seems intent on selling her to the highest bidder and the one who wants her the most is her evil sister. Allie and Scouvrel fly all over the Faewald keeping away from those trying to steal her. She doesn’t have clear idea of the reason they want her, but she knows that it isn’t for anything good. She bargains with Scouvrel for the release of her father, but there is an unexpected ending to this book.
Wow. Just…wow. This is a fanciful and terrifying journey through Faewald. The denizens are even more so. Scouvrel is a character that entices compassion and affection one moment and loathing, contempt, and disdain the next. He keeps you so off balance that you NEVER could imagine his endgame. I absolutely loved this!
Fae Captive is the second book in the brand new Tangled Fae series by Sarah K.L. Wilson. The story starts off with a bang and doesn’t slow down. There are heart-pounding twists and turns with gruesome scenes and plenty of action. The chemistry between Allie and Scouvrel is intense. Just a kiss can make Allie’s world shift and change her made-up mind. But out of the two, who will have the upper hand? This book ends at a good stopping point, but it will leave you breathless for more! If you like fantasy and adventure with some romance, then you’ll enjoy Sarah’s books. She writes YA, but I would place her latest series at Upper YA.
I received an ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Utterly thrilling!
WOW! This story just keeps getting better and better with each book. There is just so much going on and with so many twists and turns throughout it kept me on the edge of my seat utterly captivated and highly entertained. Not only are there lots of twists and turns but there are also many surprises that will really shock you! It’s one hell of a rollercoaster ride!
With Allie being in a cage most of the story you get a different perspective of the fae world. Allie is getting smarter about her decisions and fighting for what she wants. I think she is starting to figure things out! The fae world is no joke and each decision or bargain could end up killing you!
Fantastic writing and world building. That ending will shock you so be ready!
I would highly recommend this book.
MY REVIEW: Wow, this book is spellbinding.
I really enjoyed reading this book. This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone. The characters are wonderful and they are well developed. The plot flows fluently. The book has action on almost every page. I’d recommend this book to those looking for a fantasy about the Fae. It has some exceptional twists.
Allie is strong and yet vulnerable. She constantly gives herself pep talks to keep up her spirits. Allie is learning about the Fae. Scouvrel tricked her and now she is the small one trapped in a cage. The Fae are all about the game. She learns that Scouvrel is the Knave and he belongs to no court. His role is to cause trouble. There is a prophecy about Allie and Hulanna. Each of the courts desires Allie and she is part of the game. The Fae feed off the pain and suffering of mortals. Hulanna has become one of them and is feeding off of their dad’s suffering. Allie will do anything to free him.
This is a fantastic continuation from the first book of Allies journey into the world of the Fae. A great storyline and characters who continue to grow and develop, twists and turns, surprises , introducing new characters, this really had me hooked so much so I did not want it to end! Can’t wait to read the next book!
A very gripping read right from the start. It has me on the edge of my seat. The Author does an Fantastic job at bringing the story to fruition and capturing the characters. I could not put this read down. There are twists and turns around every corner. I definitely recommend.

This is my honest review after reading a requested ARC copy of Fae Captive.
Sarah has done it again in this second book of the Tangled Fae series, writing a wonderfully descriptive tale of magic and a version of the Fae that exceeds those who have come before her.
Rich world building in the fae world lends to the tale of Allie Hunter and her time trapped in the fae world alongside Scouvrel (the twisted, tempting fae scoundrel) and her desire to save her father from her twisted twin sister and the terrible oak tree he’s bound to.
This is not my usual style of reading if I’m honest, but I’m glad that I started the series and am looking forward to reading the rest and seeing where Sarah takes Allie in her quest to rid the human world of the terrible threat of the fae. High praise for Sarah K. L. Wilson
A human Allie, captured by a fae and put in a cage. Scouvrel the fae had her just where he wanted her and had things he wanted to bargain with. The adventures between them go on and on, all the while trying to get out of her cage. A different portal that took humans anytime they could. Allie just wanted to get her father back from the fae.
