AoifeI was captive for decades to a soul-sucking monster, so yeah, no way I’m landing back in another cage. No matter how pretty this fancy Academy might be. Or how delicious my jailer is, the dean of the Academy, Raine O’Keefe. As soon as my strength comes back, I’m outta here. It’s California or bust, baby.RaineIt’s hard enough being the dean to hundreds of up and coming fae hopefuls at … of up and coming fae hopefuls at Hawthorne Academy. Harder still is keeping the secret that no one can ever, ever, find out about my past. I keep everyone at a distance and that’s the way I like it.
But then my irresponsible brother drops an unconscious mermaid off at the Academy doorstep and the walls of my carefully constructed life come crashing down. Primal impulses I’ve spent a lifetime suppressing roar to the surface. This gorgeous, enticing woman is mine and I’ll do anything to keep her safe.
But when Aoife goes head to head with an ancient evil, she discovers a secret that may bury us both.

Fae Academy Romance: Primal by A.S. Green is a wonderful story to read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series that I have loved reading. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about mermaid shifters and paranormal romances.

Primal is the newest story in A.S. Green’s Fae Academy Trilogy and it’s AH-MAZING!! It immediately takes place after the events in the Hell Hounds Cursed Mates Trilogy (Hounded, Guarded & Cursed…if you have not read these books, you should!!) and hits the ground running for action, chemistry, drama, intrigue, secrets revealed, humor and sizzling sexual attraction. The story is about Raine, a Dean at the Academy & Aoife, mermaid that is dropped off at the Academy to recuperate after a horrible trauma. Sexual tension is thick in this story! No spoliers…the academy basement pool scene between Raine & Aoife is beautiful & insightful between two tortured souls. I highly recommend reading this new book from A.S. Green, I look forward to her next books at the Fae Academy. *I received an ARC for my honest review.
A.S. Green is a new to me author. I was recommended this series through Goodreads.
‘Primal’ is book one in A.S. Green’s Fae Academy.
Raine O’Keefe, a Seelie and the Dean of Hawthorn Academy. He has a secret and if that secret is ever revealed his life as the Dean will be over. But never has that secret ever been close to being revealed until Aoife came into his life. When Raine’s brother Simon shows up to his room one night with an unconscious female in his arms, Raine’s primal instinct to protect kicks in. He can’t let anything especially this female to interfere with his life and his secret.
Aoife, a mermaid has been held captive by the Black Castle for over 55 years, she is broken and afraid to go home in case Brother Peadar finds her and her family. She keeps her secret of being held prisoner and everything that has happened to herself, she doesn’t want anyone especially Raine to know about it.
When the Academy goes into lockdown after a Sluagh is made. With no where for Aoife to go she must stay at the academy. With the lockdown in place Raine and Aoife spend more time with each other, and their attraction for each other grows. Both fight their instincts to claim each other as their mates/anamchara.
This was a really good book, I really enjoyed the storyline, the characters and the different Fae species. The character development and growth was fantastic and well paced throughout the book.
One thing I am a little upset about is that yes technically Raine and Aoife got a HEA but there is still the case of who is the “Mistress”?
What does she want?
Will Raine be able to continue working at the academy?
Will Raine and Aoife stay together?
Will Raine go to visit his mother?
What will happen now that Raine’s secret is revealed?
So many questions that I guess I’ll never find out, as the next book in the series follows a different character. Hopefully Raine and Aoife will make appearances.
Raine and Aoife are going to be put through some awful times before they even get a chance to take a breath. I loved seeing how hard Raine struggled to keep his strait laced persona after Aoife arrived. I thought she adjusted rather well after being tortured for 55 years. But, her escape doesn’t end the torment threatening the fae. One of my favorite parts was Will and Ellie, the youngsters that adore Aoife, using her as their art canvas. That was when I melted for Raine. I’m so excited about the next book I’m starting it right now!
We have a story of Seelie’s and ranking them by what they are. Raine runs the Seelie Academy. He is in the top of Seelie. Aoife has been held prisoner for years. She is finally rescued, but she is on the low side of the Seelie. Someone is stirring up trouble, can they protect the students? What are these feeling that they have for each other? What will happen when the truths come out about each other? Can they find each other or lose each other? Can they stop the threat?

This is the first book in a spin-off series that I haven’t read and I didn’t think it was a problem. Aoife is a mermaid and Raine is a seelie. They are very interesting characters and they are keeping secrets from each other. The story is well written and keeps moving. The Academy is a good background for the story and you get a sense of an entire school of fae children. Even though there isn’t a conclusion to the story in total, Aoife and Raine’s story is complete. Good reading!

Aoife a Mermaid shifter of Fae origin or half Fae there less then the full blooded Fae. Had a wonderful life until her family moved then she became the obsession of a sick being for 50 years then she is free thinks to a hellhound. And she wont go back and can not go to her family it’s to dangerous she just needs to get away. But when she passes out after her rescue she winds up at Hawthorne a school for Fae. Raine O’Keefe my brother Simone has disrupted my very organized life sure running the Academy can be dull and exasperating due to the constant pranking and hormonal students but it’s his organized chaos and now some beautiful thief of a mermaid has landed sopping wet in my lap and I know she’s mine even if we shouldn’t be together not to mention she has secrets big ones but so do I. Theres danger lurking is it her past or mine. Passion and pain how do you let go if your secret wont let you go or what if its dangerous for everyone around you especially those you care for.
Very clever read with another unique look at the Fae and all the dangerous things in there world.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.

Falling for the mermaid.
This was a wonderful story about Aoife a mermaid that was held captive for decades and finally free. She ends up at Fae Academy and gets a lot of looks. Raine is the head of the Academy and has secrets that he wants to keep. But these two are drawn together but fight it until they can’t. But there are things coming that neither ever expected, will it all turn out okay? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This story was a little slow to start for me but as I read on it got so good. So glad I decided to push through. The characters are so real. Each has their own secrets that are too scary to share. Feelings are felt that aren’t understood. Twists and turns that leave you wanting more. Definitely recommend this book!

I read the Hell Hounds Trilogy and really enjoyed those books. I liked this book for the most part. I get Raine was struggling with his identity and with good reason. But sometimes the storyline bogged down with that. Aoife also struggled with her memories of what she had endured fro over 50 years. I liked the second half of the book much better than the first half. So once you get through that first part, the relationship moves forward, the books pace picks up, and there are some great twists and turns. Overall a good read.
I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
I was very excited for this book because I loved the Hell Hounds books and this did not disappoint. I loved Aoife and Raine and their story. I enjoyed the world created and felt like this book had enough suspense to keep me reading.

Amazing beginning of a new captivating Fae saga
Primal: Fae Academy Book 1 by A.S. Green is a very well written paranormal romance. This author has created an unique world full of a variety of Fae with so many different abilities, gifts and personality traits! This is one exciting beginning to this new series.
After reading the Hell Hounds series, I was intrigued and thrilled to begin reading. Aoife and did not disappoint. These two have quite a few similarities, however, they seem to get stuck of their differences. There’s plenty of drama with pre-conceived notions, assumptions and half-truths that abound, building tension and adding a higher level of anticipation and excitement to the main plot and antagonist.
I really enjoyed this book as it provides even more details of the different Fae that were introduced in the Hell Hounds series. I also really like that the author uses words and names that are totally Irish, even if is can be hard to mentally switch the pronunciation in my head. After the first few chapters, it was no big deal. I even felt like I learned a thing or two.
Overall, a well written book with a great story, including the HEA for Aoife and Raine, and that has so much more in store for readers.
I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
This was a good read. The story kept me interested till the end. It was my first book from this author but it will not be my last. Going to grab her previous series Fae Hell Hounds now.

“Primal” is a creative academy tale centering on the school’s Dean, Raine, and a surprise visitor Aoife, a kidnapped mermaid. These two main characters live different lives, but both are living a lie which makes this tale interesting. The unwanted attraction only makes this tale even more exciting and intense. This tale is well-written, the scenes are vivid and interesting and the storyline is fast-paced with drama and slow-building suspense. This is a really good start for a series and I look forward to seeing what this writer comes up with. I highly recommend this tale.

If you’ve read A.S. Green’s Fae Hell Hound trilogy you’ll recognize several characters mentioned in this book. But if you haven’t, don’t worry, it does not detract from this book by any means.
Raine O’Keefe, Dean of Hawthorn Academy, has his life completely mapped out and is in total control of himself. At least until his brother Simon brings a mermaid name Aoife to him needing help. But when he sees Aoife, every primal instinct says to protect her. But Aoife isn’t Raine’s to protect and he just needs to step back, push those instincts down and remember that. He can’t let anything interfere in his life, not with the secret he carries. If his secret gets out it will ruin his life. And he can’t let this beautiful mermaid into his life.
Aoife has a dark secret of her own. Kidnapped from her family and held prisoner for decades left her scarred and feels broken. Aoife is afraid, she doesn’t want anyone to know what happened to her, not Raine, not anyone. She is terrified that her captor will find her and put her back in chains and she is determined she will not go back there. She needs to get out of this academy and run as far away as she can. But and evil has been released and forces her to stay while the Fae Council tries to contain the evil.
As Raine and Aoife are forced to spend more time with each other, their attraction grows. Raine fights his primal instincts to claim Aoife as his. Aoife fights her possessive mermaid nature to claim Raine. What will happen when their secrets are revealed? Will they find each other, or be forced apart?
I enjoyed reading this first book in the Fae Academy series and it can be read fairly quickly.

Two hearts bruised and wary. Raine is dean of Hawthorne Academy, a school for the fae. He has success and status, but is hiding a secret. Everyone thinks he is a pure seelie but years ago he found out the truth and has never told anyone and has lived with this knowledge ever since. Halflings are considered lesser than pureblood fae. Then his brother brings him an unconscious, beautiful, ethereal girl. One who was rescued by a hellhound. Her name is Aoife and when she awakens he finds out she is a mermaid, a lesser fae. But Aoife is scared and mistrustful. She has been held captive by a sadist for over fifty years, and is afraid he will find her again. She and Raine develop feelings for each other, but both are hiding secrets. And what about the threat to the school. Someone has created an evil swarm that can kill anyone. Is it tied to the sadist who held Aoife, or is this another threat? Raine will finally meet his birthmother and it will be a surprise, but a pleasant surprise or an awful one? This is well written book with strong , well developed characters and an interesting story line. The author does a great job building the story and brings a cast of colorful characters making this an entertaining book. The story moves fluidly and had me hooked from start to finish reading. I would recommend this book.

This is a really good book that I enjoyed quite a bit. These two were great. She’s a mermaid that ends up at his academy and is so protective of her and at first he has no clue why. Just could not put down at all once I started and absolutely can not wait for more by this author and series.
The author does an amazing job of bringing a great read while giving us well developed and engaging characters to get caught up with. The storyline flowed easily from beginning to the end.
