Laney:Jackson Tate and I are over. Done. Finished. Then again, how do you end something that never really started? Now, three months later we’re being thrown back together for the sake of an investigation and forced to coexist.I thought falling in love with someone who didn’t want to be loved was hard but going into witness protection with the man who ignorantly took my heart? Yeah, that was going … Yeah, that was going to be impossible.
Jackson:
Time and distance were what I needed to forget Laney Thompson. A Jack and Jill bathroom and the bedroom next door was what I got instead. Witness protection on her family’s farm? I was skeptical too, especially with our icy reunion. But the longer I was around her the more I realized how much I needed her.
With her, it was easy to forget.
Forget about my life and who I was, and why we needed things to fade between us in the first place. All I needed was one tragic reminder.
**This book is considered a standalone but does include characters from the book ‘Glimmer.’ If you’d like to see more of just this couple’s origin story, there is also a prequel to this book in the form of a novella called ‘At First Fight’ all of which is exclusively on Amazon.
“I just finished reading Jackson and Laney’s story and I simply couldn’t get enough of these characters… If you love sweet and sassy romance with a dose of suspense, and lovely people who kiss and cuss, this book is perfect for you!”- GoodReads Reviewer
“Fade is seriously one of my favorite books I’ve read this year, if not my favorite. With every one of Ashley’s books, I fall more and more in love with her writing and her stories.”- Author Brittany Taylor

I really, really wanted to like this book but I was left unfulfilled by the end. The constant back and forth have me whiplash and the ending happened so fast I though I was missing something. The only thing that saved it was the amazing writing.

AMAZING!! I really really enjoyed this heartfelt emotional story! Love the characters! Its absolutely perfect!
“She was different, a little darkness lingered with her now. A bright part of her had faded, not gone out but diminished just the same.”
“She bore the scars, but I carried her wounds in my heart.”
This was a clean romance, but I felt like something was missing from the story. I think the reference to their past trauma should have been explained a little better. This was a deeply emotional story of Laney and Jackson finding each other again, but it was lacking in chemistry and steam to make their relationship a little more cohesive. I had some difficulty connecting with their relationship, and a lot of time was focused on Laney’s PTSD issues. The plot idea for their witness protection location was also a little unrealistic. But the ending was good, and I enjoyed some aspects of the story.
Fade was a emotional but beautiful story. I loved it. I loved Jackson and Laney. They were both frustrating at times but I did love them. Once they got through their issues, I thought they were perfect together!
I couldn’t put it down!! I was hooked from the start! I loved seeing how Laney was able to grow and learn from her PTSD, and I loved that it wasn’t your typical romance. They had to work harder than most couples, especially since they had someone trying to destroy them. I thought that it was great that we go to see Jackson learn and grow as well.
I can’t wait to see what happens with the rest of Laney’s siblings!!
