LincolnI thought there was only one thing I needed to make me happy. I was so sure becoming a rock star would heal the dark corners inside me. But every time I walk onto the stage, with a roaring crowd screaming my name, all I can think about is the boy I left behind. All I want to do is rewind and make a different choice. JaceI thought I hated Lincoln when he ghosted me ten years ago and … years ago and destroyed my heart. I thought I hated him when he wrote a chart-topping hit about our idyllic young love. But I’ve never hated him as much as I do right now, standing in front of me like he has every right to be in my world again. He’s not the rock god I thought he was…he’s still that same lost boy I used to love. Can I ever trust him with my heart again?

This is probably one of my favorite books ever simply because it’s such a wonderful, realistic portrayal of someone with bipolar it warms my heart. People with mental illness deserve love even when they can’t love themselves and KM Nuehold showed that beautiful in Face the Music. <3

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought the chemistry between Lincoln and Jace was completely off the charts. They were best friends since childhood but they got to see each other during the Summer when both their families went to stay at cabins by a lake in Wisconsin. They eventually became lovers and promised each other forever. Jace had told Lincoln that he was going to go on tour with him but Lincoln couldn’t allow him to give up his dream for him so he left without even a goodbye. It’s been 10 years since he left Jace. Lincoln is completely messed up, he self harms and has had a couple of s*icide attempts. Lincoln ends up in hospital after falling asleep on his balcony in freezing temperature so when the band’s manager Archer mentioned a vacation he tells him to buy the cabin that he went to every Summer in Wisconsin as that’s where he wants to go. The rest of Downward Spiral need the vacation time to sort their sh*t out as well, as they’re all struggling in their own way. Jace’s fiancé Amanda left him because he couldn’t love her like she deserves as even though he wont admit it he still loves Lincoln. Jace decides to go to his families cabin in Wisconsin. He never expected Lincoln, the guy who broke his heart to be staying in the cabin next door. Will Jace be able to let go of his anger enough and let Lincoln a chance to explain why he left, will this be their second chance at love and will Lincoln be able to slay his demons whatever the outcome with Jace maybe? I’m looking forward to reading Lando and Dawson’s story next. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
Face the Music is the first book in the Replay series, a contemporary romance series revolving around the members in the band Downward Spiral. This book deals with heavy issues and I suggest readers check out the trigger warnings to determine if this is the right book for them. I really liked this book and found it touching.
Lincoln is the singer for Downward Spiral, a poplar band on the verge of destruction. Lincoln himself is self-destructing, but a vacation to his family cottage reunites him with his long, lost love. Jace has been resentful of Lincoln for breaking his heart all those years ago, but even though he keeps telling himself to keep Lincoln at arms length, Jace can’t help falling in love with Lincoln all over again. This was a beautiful story with a lot of angst and sorrow, which ended with a lovely happy ending. I also liked how it introduced the overall arching plot line that connected each book. Due to this series plotline I highly suggest reading all these books in order.
A great start to a very promising series. Very touching and well written, with wonderful characters.

I love that this author genuinely isn’t afraid to tackle things like mental health in a well meaning and beautiful way. The way she wrote about bipolar disorder and the way it can manifest was so well done. My heart hurt for Lincoln, as he went through the highs and lows. It was a truly beautiful story that I can’t recommend highly enough.
So much more than I expected.
While I knew I’d enjoy this, it was so much more than I expected. Lincoln’s highs and lows were emotionally exhausting while pulling me in deeper. Jace had his own demons as well even if they weren’t as debilitating. Then you add the little teasers about the other members of the band and Archer as well. This author has a gift in getting her readers attached to get characters and their stories. What a brilliant read.
