Jace DeLand is just tired. Tired of the groupies, the groping, the propositions. Tired of everything. Jace is the rhythm guitarist for Soul Harbor, a band who has been on a successful 20-year run and shows no signs of slowing down. Despite the success, something is missing. All of his other bandmates have gotten married and settled down, and he is tired of waiting patiently for his turn. He wants … wants that kind of love, that someone special to spend his life with. But he’s almost given up hope.
Then, one night while on stage, he sees her. Her face in the sea of people grabs his attention and doesn’t let go. When she agrees to meet him backstage, his hopes are high, but it seems his reputation precedes him. Yes, he’s a rock star, but he’s over all of the bullshit that comes with it, he just has to figure out how to convince her of that.
Laney Mason is perfect for him in every way, exactly what he’s been missing in his life. But can it really work between them? Whatever it takes, Jace won’t give up on his shot at love.

At first, when rocker Jace DeLand sees Laney Mason in the crowd, he knows she’s the one. As the last of his band to partner up, he was still searching for that face in the crowd.
He’s all in from the get go.
But can they make it work with him on tour? Because Laney does have a job and bills to pay.
Awfully sweet and a side helping of steam.
Recommend.

Rockstar romance: Story was ok but characters and timeline were unrealistic.
This story is about Jace DeLand, a Rockstar who has been on top of the charts for over 20 years and is getting sick of the road life, being hassled by groupies wanting one night with him due to his bad boy reputation that the tabloids keep up even thou he hasn’t actually lived that life in over ten years. All his band-mates are married and bring their wives on the tour busses, and Jace is lonely.
Jace’s character gets so sappy and weak at the times, it’s one thing to be lonely and mention it to your friends. However at one point, he said he has already talked to them about how he was lonely. Then when these groupies are let into the area backstage after one of their concerts and are hitting on him and one grabs his family jewels, he runs away and basically cries and then when his band mates come he whines about how lonely he is.
I know that isn’t politically correct, and he had a right to be pissed off and yell at the woman for touching him without permission. But c’mon for a rockstar to cry because he was grabbed by a groupie and is lonely, wanting it to be a wife grabbing him instead of a groupie is a bit far fetched. At the very least, it is not how we like to think of Rockstars. I personally don’t like to read about the Hero in tears because he is lonely.
Then there is the way he meets his true Love, Laney Mason. His band-mate had a gut feeling that he would meet het that night and she would be in the crowd at the concert. Like his friend was psychic. Though more likely than not it was a self-fulfilling prophecy, since he expected her to be there he found someone that fit the bill.
The romance timeline doesn’t make sense in the. I mean he finds her in the audience and by the end of that night he is in love with her and she him. Though she refuses to have sex with him for a while even though they are both adults in their early 40s, so there is no reason they would wait to have sex, especially since they fell in love so fast.
The ending though good, was a complete fabrication even though it wrapped things up nicely. Jace again changed from the hot Rockstar with the large …… handsome the sappy cry-baby who has anxiety attacks. Just because his lady love, Laney was due to go home for a few weeks for a Job interview and to close up her house, take care of bills, etc. this is after knowing her for about a week.
The book did keep my interest and despite the plot holes and character inconsistencies. So it was still worth the read. I give it a 2.8 stars (rounded to 3).

A wonderful Novella, can keep you locked into the story, hard to put down with good characters. I really enjoyed reading the novella.
3.5 out of 5 stars
What do you do when you are the rhythm guitarist of a successful band and the only single guy left in the band . That is what Jace DeLand is going through , he is tired of the one night stands and the groupies trying to grope him all the time . Until the night he sees her in the crowd the one woman that could be the one . Laney Mason is the one who Jace thinks could be the one that he has been waiting for . Will they find their ever after
I must say the characters are cool characters and are written well . Jace is kind of brooding at the beginning of the story . He is just tired of the life of a rock star . He is sometimes kind of annoying with his melt downs and crying . Over all he is an enjoyable character and you do want to get to know him better . Laney well sometimes she is great and sometimes she comes off just a little naïve . I give her credit though she is sassy and does keep Jace on his toes . Piper is my favourite character , she is Jace’s sister and the no nonsense one , she keeps Jace on the even keel . She is funny and the sensible one sometimes . Over all the characters are a fun read .
I sat down and read this book in an evening and started reading it is a fast read so I had it done in a couple of hours . The author takes us on a rock and roll adventure . The characters are cool but sometimes they come off just a little bit childish and you just want to wrap them up and hug them telling them everything will be ok . There are also a couple of time the story seems to drag just a little . Over all I truly enjoyed the book and the characters . If you like rock star books and want a good read for an evening check out FACE IN THE CROWD . You will have a fun time reading .
Face in the Crowd is not your normal rock band novel. This band has been together for over 20 years and most of the members are married. Jace Deland is the last hold out and he is so tired of the same old grind. He wants to find his one true love but at over 40 as the bad boy of rock how do get past all the bad impressions you have made throughout the years. As Jace falls into a depression he meets Laney who is fresh, and innocent. The problems they meet with all the screaming fans and her insecurities makes a great book. It drags in a few places and that is the only reason for the 4 star review. I loved the characters, even the secondary characters make a great impression with the reader. This is definitely an author I would read more of.
this was a really great book! i just felt it was a little to rushed. he is a rock star for years tired of all the groupies throwing themselves at him. than he meets her and wants her bad. can they make it work? read to find out what happens.
This is a great book that quickly drew me in and kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed these characters and that the author chose to have a more mature rock band versus a fresh faced young men, it was a refreshing change. I enjoyed following along these characters journey. I laughed, cried, and laughed again. An enjoyable book.
He is looking for something to add to his life but he was not sure until he see her in the crowd at his band gig. The rest of the band have all married. He asks to meet him backstage, but his reputation is not good and he will have to work hard to gain her respect. Will he win her over? See if he can

It was a sweet whirlwind instalove/lust romance. The story was intense, fast paced and emotional. I had a hard time connecting with the characters and getting into the story so for me it was just okay.
Writing this review I’m so torn on how to rate it.
The story and concept idea is good. It’s actually one of the better rockstar romances I’ve read. Trust me, there’s a reason I don’t like that sub-genre, but this was a good one.
So… What turned me off from the story? I guess it’s the way the author chose to write and portray these characters. The characters are suppose to be in their 40’s (at least the main character’s ages are in their 40’s) but I assume since the band had been together for 20 years, and the main male character and the lead singer have been best friends since they were young, all the band members are in their late 30’s early 40’s. Anyways, given their age, there were many times the conversations between the band members reminded me of teenage locker room gossip. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there is no set age on how men talk to each other, but for them to just act so immature and confront the male about if he’s “getting some” from the female was just a turn off for me.
Then we have the heroine who is 42 (I believe that’s what the author said her age was) and she mentions not wanting to have sex with the male lead right away. Which this is fine, sometimes I actually like a little bit of a relationship build up. But then she turns around and start teasing him and rubbing all over him, but then when he tries to take the next step or move their little make out sessions further, she pushes him away and is adamant about no sex. Talk about a tease.
There was also a reason for the female not wanting to have sex right away and for her to doubt any kind of relationship she and Jace could be building. Apparently she had rough past experiences with her ex’s, but the author never went into details about how she was so hurt that it makes her now doubt any male trying to build something with her.
