The third book in the Unfortunate Fairy Tale series. All that glitters is not gold. When something precious is stolen from sixteen-year-old Mina Grime, she will do anything in her power to get it back, even if it means traveling to the dangerous Fae plane and battling one of the strongest fairy-tale villains yet. However, nothing can prepare Mina for the dangerous obstacles she will face in the … the Fae world, or the choices she must make when love and life are on the line.

This is, in my opinion, the best book in the series! It will have your jaw dropping with the unexpected twists that happen with Mina and Jared in this unforgettable adventure. Action-packed and fast paced won’t let you put this book down!
Heart-wrenchingly beautiful! Another in the Unfortunate Fairy Tale series that I could not put down. Adventure, answers, questions, laughter, and tears. I loved every minute!!!
** spoiler alert ** Wow! There were definitely more secrets behind the Fae that were revealed in this novel. We also learn more about Mina’s family, particularly her brother and father. We also see more from the Fairy Godmothers! This was a great build-up for the next series!
This book was really captivating, and I really enjoyed it. This was a great read, and it is really enjoyable.
I loved this book! After what happens in the beginning I couldn’t put it down I had to see what happen next. Same with the ending it was so surprising I had to start the next book right away. I loved Jared in this book he is my favorite character.
Things just keep getting better/worse for Mina but I’m right there with her and her supporting crew. How can you not love these characters!?! Great read!
I cannot get over how good this series is turning out. My emotions are on a serious rollercoaster after finishing this book. I have no idea where Chanda is going with this and I love it! I can’t wait to start the next book.
Each book in this series continues to surprise me by how well thought out they are. My mind is never bored because I am so enthralled by the stories Chanda is telling. Great Job!
The Story does not like to be ignored. Mina finds that out after an entire summer of wallowing in self-pity and angst. When her brother was supposedly killed, things continued to get worse for her as a new foe arose named Stilksin with a history of mayhem and wanting to make a deal. Traveling to the fae plane, [finding her brother alive in Teague’s castle (hide spoiler)], and trying to figure out her feelings for Brody and Jared, Mina has a lot on her plate. Oh, and don’t forget getting to high school while she’s at it.
This book was a pretty good third book in the series. Some parts seemed a little slow, but only because there was a lot of plot development. At least in the first 3/4ths of the book. Then it was “What the poop!” for the remainder of the pages. But into that later. With all the loss Mina had suffered, I didn’t feel like the teen angst at the beginning or even after she believed Charlie was dead was completely ridiculous; I thought it was typical and believable. I kind of wanted to shake her sometimes, but it was understandable for her to react the ways that she did. When she finally got her butt in gear, it picked up. I was so excited to see the fae realm! Meeting Nix was such a great surprise and I couldn’t help but latch on to his adorableness.
Then once inside the castle, everything goes to crap. Mina does rescue her brother, but Jared, broody and swoon worthy Jared who was never supposed to step foot on the fae plane for very specific reasons that he didn’t even have time to regret, swoops in to save her. And gets himself metaphorically killed in the process. Right after finally, Finally, FINALLY kissing Mina and admitting how he feels about her. Three books I’ve waited for that! Three books of the sass and snark and attraction that everyone could see but Mina and what happens? It’s gone. Just gone.
Mina had no choice and Jared was mostly to blame (Though how could he not try to saver her? And his entrance made me tear up because he knew it was dangerous and came after her anyway! Who doesn’t want a Jared?!) Anyway, despite the tragic ending where Jared and Teague are one person and the Jared she knew is basically gone, at least Nix didn’t die after he tried helping her. He even made a pretty good human. And Charlie was safe with her mother none the wiser.
Except Mina’s heart had been broken once again after only one beautiful, blissful moment.
This book, though a little slow at the beginning, was so worth it. It didn’t even matter that I cried like three times and threw my kindle across the couch and had to sit in silence after I finished because my emotions were too scattered to properly function. That is a sign of a good book, though. And I’ll happily continue on knowing Mina’s ending will probably not be happily ever after.
I loved this book! Who wouldn’t like a book where you had Rumpelstiltskin and Ursula as the villains? This book really twists away from the previous two books in that Mina gets to travel to the Fae world and battle the story there. Charlie, who is taken by Temple Stiltskin, is held hostage in the Fae world. Can Mina get to him in time, and can she have him from the Stiltskin? You have to read this book!
Fable is absolutely my favorite book in the series, the writing is amazing and the characters make me have SO many emotions!
This was a whole new emotional roller coaster! Losing something so important to her and then losing even more! It’s hard not to give anything that happens away. I love how Mina keeps going but how she will do after that ending, I don’t know! Must read the next book now! Love this series!!
Oh my Goodness!! Seriously!! Hands down the best book in this series!! It really keeps getting better and better! As Mina grows confident in her skills and as she learns what she is capable it just amazes me how far she has come. I absolutely loved imagining how the Fae world looks like and I thoroughly enjoyed the vision that Chanda Hahn created. I thought the last book had me on the edge of my seat! Boy was I wrong! The ending is a tear jerker but it was necessary for the story to continue. I absolutely love this series!!
Keeps getting better and better……and better at making me scream, smile, laugh, cry and run to the next book.
No spoilers.
The books just get more exciting and action packed each time.
I just finished book 3 and i’m dying to read 4, (DYING!) but it’s almost 3am and I must sleep…I must….
I did a silent scream!!! at the final chapter. The cliffhangers are too much….
Every book is as exciting as the last! I enjoyed the fae plane immensely. Every story from the grime fairy tales makes sense in this book they are not just added as fillers and Mina is really coming into her own as she faces the curse. I know you will love this book as much as I have.
Rumpelstiltskin is a surprise in this book. Everything that goes on I was on the edge of my seat. Why are we doing this to me. I think I cried more with this book then any other. I hope everyone enjoys this one. It was on that had me wondering what way we was going to go next. The end…. WHY??? I just don’t even.
This series is simply fun. While aimed at high schoolers (pretty sure my daughter read it her junior year), I have enjoyed it!
