Sigh I wanted to like this book but sadly it had tooooo much dramalama for me.
Don’t get me wrong some is good can make a story interesting but this was just too over the top.
I 100% get that Paisley didn’t want to be seen as the sick girl but in the end she still let Jagger think she was sick just with something else. It was ridiculous.
Jagger has his own secrets and that was another layer of drama for the sake of drama. What happened to characters that are open with each other? You can have an interesting story without the entire faults hoods in the way.
I guess I had high hopes because Full Measure was so good. This one just fell flat for me.
The narration was the best part of this book for me both Teddy Hamilton and Carly Robbins killed their performances honestly if it wasn’t for them I don’t know if I would have finished this book.
This series has sucked me in and I’m loving every minute of it! Jagger and Paisley’s story takes you on an emotional journey. They are two people trying to live the best versions of themselves with each other. Although, sometimes honesty with omissions here and there can wreck the perfect bubble. I loved the layers of these characters, flaws and all!
A list of things to accomplish…..a bucket list of sorts…..it was a list that Paisley was determined to check off despite the obstacles in her way. It is a last ditch effort to live life on her own terms. Time is something that Paisley is fighting against. The demon that is slowly closing in on everything that stops Paisley from having a life like any other person her age. A ticking time bomb that will not be ignored.
Wanting to take life by the horns led Paisley to Florida. A risk that would have serious consequences if her parents knew. A quest for a few stolen moments where no one knew what was really going on in Paisley’s life. That is where circumstances led Paisley to be in the arms of Jagger. Dubbed Mr California by Paisley – Jagger was enjoying a few moments of fun before his latest stint in flight school would consume all his time. Little did he know that the instant attraction he felt for that girl he saved on the beach would come back to him in the most unexpected way.
As fate would have it, Paisley and Jagger both reside in the same town. What they didn’t know was how intertwined their lives would become. The two could not ignore the pull they felt when together, but Paisley was determined to keep things in the friends category due to her illness. Time wasn’t on their side, and Paisley and Jagger were both hiding secrets from one another. A dangerous course that was sure to explode once the pieces of their puzzles started to be laid out for everyone. How will they handle the possibility of a romance? Could they even survive all of the ‘secrets’ that neither was willing to share? Soon they both would run out of time and everything they hoped for would be put in jeopardy.
Oh my….oh my! Seriously…..how can one author make me cry when I rarely EVER feel such emotions while reading?? Jagger and Paisley have quite the journey in front of them. Their attraction is the kind that leaves you with the ‘feels’. You know….when you are absolutely consumed with the characters that are laid on in a book. It’s more than a guy meets girl romance. It is a journey of discovery, friendship, commitment, and finding the one thing in life that means more than breathing!!
Rebecca Yarros knocks this series out of the park. There is so much detail to military life that only could come from her personal life. A testament to the devotion and honor that is present throughout the various branches of the military! An amazing author who is an absolute ‘go to’ for my reading device!!
Y’all. These books! I had eyed this series forever but I had this idea of what military romances are and Rebecca Yarros blew up all of my preconceived notions with book one in this series. Now, she’s gone and blown them out of the water with book two. At the rate I’m reading these, I am for sure going to need her to get on it with writing more! I already want to pick up book 3!! These are the most heart felt romances! We all know I love my steamy scenes and this book hardly has them.. did that deter me from reading all 360 of these pages in a day? Not. At. All. I could not stop reading this.
This story follows Paisley and Jagger. Paisley is trying to just live her life the best she can and Jagger has his eyes on the prize of what he has always dreamed of for his life. But life isn’t always easy. These two meet in such an unlikely way and things are just up and down for them after that. There is no way I am doing this justice. I hate giving details about a book’s synopsis because spoilers and if you want to particulars then you just have to read it for yourself. I will say that I adore all of the characters in this group of friends and I hope Rebecca Yarros expands even more on them and we get all the books about all the characters. Because as long as she wants to keep writing them then I’m gonna keep reading them. I already bought book three and I’m leaving here and going straight to buy book four and her other series because #reasons and #iwantto. This is a sweet military romance that manages to bring all the feels with the difficulties these characters have to face and if you haven’t given this series a go yet then you need to get off my butt and read them.
I don’t know why it has taken me so long to get on the Rebecca Yarros Train, but I am now fully on board!
Eyes Turned Skyward is the story of Jagger and Paisley. Both of these young adults have been through a tremendous amount in their short lives, and are doing the best they can to make the best of their situations. Their connection is pretty much instantaneous, but their heads can’t quite catch up, and their past makes it that much more difficult.
Rebecca Yarros writes beautifully broken characters. She manages to keep the reader in suspense, dying to know how things are going to turn out. I definitely recommend Eyes Turned Skyward!
