His weapon is the stiletto, his codename: The Needle. He is Henry Faber, a coldly professional killer and Germany’s most feared deep-cover agent in Britain. His task: to discover the Allies’ plans for D-Day, and get them to Germany at all costs. It’s a task he undertakes with customary relish and ruthlessness — until he encounters Storm Island, and a woman called Lucy…
I read this book a long time ago and forgot its story. I just remember that it was a fabulous read.
The novel that put Follett on the map. I read this nearly 40 years ago when it first came out and made me a lifelong Follett fan. Combination of spy thriller and police procedural, set in that facinating period of WWII. His descriptions of the desolate Scottish coast add to the drama and tension. Follett hooks you from the very first and doesn’t …
Great book made a great movie.
It was exceptionally thrilling…I think the best of Follett. One of the few where the movie is as gripping as the book.
Read this one a long long time ago and it is still on my top 10.
This was my first experience with Ken Follett and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. It is a thrilling adventure with some romance and I was forever hooked as a fan of his.
Loved it. Characters realistic and interesting. Lots of info about WW11 spy systems. Plot grabs you.
Anything Ken Follett writes , buy it read it.
One of the best books I ever read. This author is fantastic.
This is a novel based on some fact and one would find the story-line absolutely believable. Maybe it DID happen that way.
I can only say it is very good. This writer always gives you value for paying attention to his story
Wonderful thriller that you can’t put down!
This is one of my favorite books of all time. To say it was a “page turner” is a gross understatement. It will have you on the edge of your seat (or bed) the entire time.
First book I read by Ken F.. Great read.
Couldn’t put it down! And the movie was true to the book, which is rare. Donald Sutherland and Kate Nelligan are wonderful in the film version…..but read the book first!
Ken Follett is a really good thriller writer. Very interesting Spy Novel set during WWII. Full disclosure, I like History, especially WWII, so I am prejudiced. There is romantic triangle involved, that includes a paraplegic RAF Veteran. I don’t want to give away too much, but I will say this book kept me interested all the way to the surprise …
In the end goodness triumphs through the hands of many courageous people!
This is one of my favorite Ken Follett books.
This novel won the Edgar Award in 1979. One of the most entertaining reads so far this year. Look forward to reading other novels by Ken Follet
Even after so many years, this remains one of the best thrillers ever written. If you haven’t read this novel yet, treat yourself!
