„ExtraNormal Rising“ the second book in the “ExtraNormal Academy Series” by Suzanne V. Reese is even better than the first. Mira Johns has finally been granted permission to remain on Earth dreaming of the proverbial “happily ever after love story” with her boyfriend. All she ever asked for, it is like a dream, but as dream ends nightmares begin….. well not quite so, but at least kind of a bad dream… with some unexpected deaths and the danger coming for the extremists that wish to eliminate everything and everyone that pose a threat to the genetic perfection of the Nreim, Mira has enough on her plate. Fortunately, she can always count on Geery to help her with the cultural nuances, or can she?
This is a fresh mix of fantasy and science-fiction, with romantic YA elements and a good plot. The main characters are very likeable, both funny and self-reflective, with enjoyable secondary characters thrown into the mix, specially Geeri and Mira’s Dad, whose level of nerdiness is unmatched.
Hooked? Good! Go and read it I can hardly wait for the third book in this Series.
I like Suzanne V. Reese second book ‘ExtraNormal: Rising’ even better. I don’t want to get into the story too much and spoil it for you, you’ll just have to read it, It’s fast pace and an easy read plus so much fun. Suzanne Reeves has woven a wonderful tale of an alien teen in high school experiencing culture differences between Earth and planet Nreim and her nerdy dad-high school teacher could use some help fitting in too. In book 2 ExtraNormal:Rising Mira is changing and so are her duties on earth. She is more connected to her mother’s work and her mother is guiding Mira in her new journey. New friends are in her life as she settles down to being a high school teen, plus she’s investigating rouges and those who are out to possibly kill her and her friends. There is a rush to get to the bottom of problems that are arising and with the help from her friend Geery back on Nreim she is getting a lot of help. Things are heating up on all levels, ideas are needed to solve their current problem. But Geery’s help went overboard, what she was thinking or is the government involved and who can you trust. What the freak is happening?? The author has created a a very entertaining, enthralling, fun clean read. Oh this is so good when is book 3 coming out !?!
I’ve been given a copy of the book for free in exchange for an honest review.
Extranormal Rising is the 2nd in a series of a world created by this author. I did not get to read the 1st in the series but easily caught on to the premise within the 1st two chapters. Imagine of world of humans that has discovered Earth. They call it Neoearth. Now this new world isn’t as advanced as theirs. Neoearth hasn’t even discovered interplanetary travel let alone learn they weren’t alone in the Universe. They also cannot communicate with one another with just their minds even. With me so far? Now imagine someone has gone and mixed their DNA with that of Neoearthlings. They’re called Neoborn, or hybrid humans if you’re one of the elite racists. This illegal genetic testing has to be stopped. Some of the more skilled can communicate vast, interplanetary distances as well. Those rare individuals are called Quasars. Now take a teenage female of your race and find she can ‘link’s with a Neoborn human. Linking is akin to finding your mate. Heresy! Illegal even treasonous. So after interrogating the entire family, they decided to have the family infiltrate the area to not only weed out the Neoborn humans but perhaps find out if there are more people at play there than the renegade geneticists who were captured in book one. Now you know what to expect in when you read Extranormal Rising. You may just find you can’t put it down once you start reading it. I certainly couldn’t. Finished it within a couple of days myself. Try it, start with the 1st book but you won’t have to, you’ll still have a good read starting with this one.
