This book had the potential to be a great story – good plot idea, but it was not well written. not a great writing style.
it was great
This book keeps you wondering just what’s going to happen next. It’s a good yarn that includes an isolated island in the throes of winter as well as a lot of action on the mainlamd as well.
This book leads you on an interesting and wild path as people begin to disappear all over. The trials they survivors have to deal with should keep you turning pages to the end.
My first sci-fi novel was as expected. It was filled with strange events, death and fright. It was a page turner.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves sci-fi and a scary read.
Scary in a way, kept going from good to some unbelievable parts. Overall interesting.
Fast paced horror story.
Makes you wonder what the future holds.
Great read, and the sequels are even better. More entertaining than your typical post apacolyptic zombi read. Added Ike Hamill to my must read list after this.
Very creepy. Couldn’t put it down.
I wished the story ended not go into another book
Started out really well but kind of lost me about half way thru. Seemed to go off on a tangent plus main characters faded out. I did finish but no desire to read next book.
Pretty original concept. don’t know if I just missed it, but the book seemed to jump into something completely different in the last chapters, and I couldn’t follow the move.
If you really want to know how this ends you’ll have to read the sequel because it doesn’t end here.
This is book one of four. Make sure you read this book first as you will not know what is going on the the rest of the books. It is a page turner for sure. This book will make you wonder what if this should happen, what would you do. I am just about through with book four in this series. I am anxious to read other books by this author.
I will admit that you will have to pay close attention to what is going on. When I thought I know what was going to happen, Extinct threw a twist in the plot to have me re-thinking everything. I couldn’t stop reading and had to know what was going to happen next. I bought all the books in the series and I will recommend this book.
Absolutely a great read.
This novel is sci fi at it’s most unpredictable. Set in New England, where people start disappearing, winter goes to an extreme, and life ceases to be as we expect it…for no known reason. But one insightful, bright teenager has a theory about what’s happening, and a plan to make it stop .
A readable blend of Koontz and King.
A good effort but difficult for me to believe/enjoy.
