Two opposites in uncharted territory. The government made Chloe Wilson an explosives expert, trained to take out a target with a precise, controlled hit. This mission is personal, and it’s liable to get her killed. The former … to get her killed. The former Valkyrie can’t afford any mistakes or attachments, but this time she has no choice, and soon her new partner proves his worth.
One explosive situation.

Far from a helpless civilian, Chloe holds him at knifepoint the first time they meet. Now they’re both targets, and he and Chloe must face the threat head on—and if they want to survive, they’ll have to do it together.

As the series goes on, for me personally the books get better and better and even more engrossing.
Had a total girl crush with the female main character as crazy always attracts crazy.
This book had non stop action exploding from the pages, and I couldn’t get enough.
My reviews have been really short for this series as I can’t wait to dive immediately into the next book, this one is no different!
Explosive is right. I think this is the best book in the series so far. I adore Chole and Heath. She is so twitchy, wild and funny to his calm, cool and Boy Scout ways. I hit all the emotional points with this book and loved every minute. I love the cast of characters for this series. They are so interesting and unique. The plot was current but interesting. I can’t wait for the next.
Great read. These stories keep getting better and better. This is Chloe and Heath’s story. Another great read, filled with action, hot loving and humorous moments. Enjoyed it and cannot wait for the next one! 4.5 stars*****
******I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book provided by NetGalley******
The story about former Valkyries continues in this book with explosive expertise Chloe who is alone after the bad guys. Unexpectedly she receives help from other Valkyries and their team in which one is Heath contractor with the hero complex. This is a story about suspense, action and boiling tension between Heath and Chloe. Like all the other Valkyries, Chloe has trust and commitment issues. It is great to see how she surrenders to Heat and to see that their commitment lasts.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
Chloe is good at what she does and is used to working alone. She is not happy when she notices the guy following her. Chloe soon discovers that her friend sent him and expects her to let him help her on her mission. Chloe also learns that her friend is working with a group trying to find the remaining members from the secret government program that trained them and she wants Chloe to join the group.
Heath is taking a break between assignments from his contractor job when he’s asked by his best friend to watch out for a woman in trouble. He soon realizes that Chloe is no ordinary woman and despite his best efforts, he finds himself attracted to her and wanting to protect her.
Lots of action and suspense.
This series gives you all the feels! From hot passion, terrifying situations, horrific abuses and a great dollop of humour.
Poor Heath. He just wants a holiday before his next contract in Syria commences. He did not expect a call from his buddy Ty asking him to shadow a woman and keep her safe. Chloe, however, is not your average damsel in distress, she’s more like to cause the distress!
But after meeting the business end of Chloe’s weapon, he finally convinces her he’s there to help and off they se on a whirlwind tour of Europe, trying to keep the monster, who pantomines as a businessman and paragon of family, from making another delivery of human cargo.
I loved meeting Itchy and Twitchy, LOL. Heath kind of stabilised Chloe’s more…explosive ideas and she made his knight in shining armour routine really hard to implement. She is more than capable of helping herself. She may not NEED saving, but he wants to all the same.
I love this highly dysfunctional family of Special Operators. The Valkyrie Programme has a lot to answer for but they really instilled in these women what traits they want in their own little family. The supportng characters are really well formed and I’m slowly falling for Marcus and his canine companion.
Looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Eden!
Another brilliant book from the very talented Kaylea Cross her books are always fast paced and fillled with suspense and drama and this one was no exception She is fast becoming a one click author for me in fact I bought this book for my library
Like her other Valkyrie’s Chloe Wilson is highly trained but unlike the others we have met she is also a demolition expert When the program is shut down she realises her covert identity has been compromised and she is intent on letting her other Valkyrie sister know but they are a step ahead and they have sent former Pararescue man Heath Barrett to keep her safe. Chloe doesn’t think she needs his help and she certainly doesn’t need him distracting her not when she is bent on revenge for her friend killed in their last mission or saving women that are in danger He is starting to fall for this crazy woman but will he be able to keep her safe long enough to get her to the rest of the team in London.
Another drama filled story in the Vengeance series. Explosive Vengeance is Chloe and Heath’s story. Both main characters are tough as nails but so completely different. Chloe was a bit of a wild card. She is single-minded about her all missions and has always worked alone. Heath is known to have a white knight complex, he just can’t seem to help himself to always needing to help. He is definitely the calm to Chloe’s chaos.
Since the disbanding of the Valkyrie’s project, Chloe has been on her own and seeking vengeance against human traffickers. Unfortunately with her latest target, she is now placed in danger. With the help of her former roommate, Chloe and her boyfriend Tyler, Heath is brought in to keep her safe.
As much as I enjoyed the chemistry between Chloe and Heath, I wasn’t too much of a fan of Chloe. I love bada$$ heroines, but Chloe was a bit too much for me. I appreciated her drive to rescue these women from horrible situations, but she was almost too brash in her actions. Heath was a dream, he called Chloe on some of her decisions but continued to support and be there for her.
Overall, this latest installation to this series was good and looking forward to more.
The Valkyries are looking for the remaining women and gathering the ones they find and going to put them in a WITSEC program.
Chloe is an explosive expert and one of the Valkyries. Chloe has taken out one very bad guy who was selling women and now he’s brother is out to get her and kill her. Heath is a former Pararescueman but now works security. He’s on vacation and gets a call from his best friend to keep an eye on a woman. He thinks she’s defenseless and helpless but boy he couldn’t be more wrong. After she catches him following her, they have to hide from the guy she’s hunting. While tracking a cargo of trafficked women, they start to fall for each other. Can they save the women and stay alive?
Loved this story. Action from the first to last page. Two people who have been orphaned find love. Chloe is used to working alone and Heath is used to working with a group.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
This is surely an explosive story. The story of Chloe and Heath. This book is full of suspense unexpected twists and turns. I flew across the pages and I could hardly stop myself from reading. As always Kaylea writes superb stories.
Till this far I think this is the best story. I am hungry for more.
Explosives expert and former Valkyrie, Chloe Wilson is used to working alone and not forming connections. But, when she finds herself on a revenge mission turned personal, she finds she not only has backup in the way of other former Valkyries, but also from a former special forces Pararescueman.
Set to enjoy some time off between security contracting positions, Heath Barrett gets a surprise call from his best friend asking him to keep watch over a woman in danger. He never suspected that the woman was not a civilian but an explosives assassin instead. But, even though she’s as deadly as they come, Heath can’t walk away from the woman being hunted by her enemies and instead finds himself drawn into a web of intrigue and danger, with the only chance of survival dependent on them facing the threats as a team.
Explosive Vengeance is really the tale of the Firecracker and the BoyScout! Chloe and Heath are opposites in almost every way with Chloe being super impulsive and a bit of a wild child and Heath being used to working on a team with the main focus on rescue rather than assassination. But, they fall fast and hard and both love deeply and loyally.
While it’s easy to get caught up in Chloe and Heath’s romance and flirting, the suspense is phenomenal. I loved watching Chloe have to learn to work as part of a team when it went against all of her training and instincts as a Valkyrie. Heath also had to overcome his need to protect and trust in Chloe’s skill even when it led her straight into danger.
For fans of the series, Megan and Ty feature heavily in this book as do the other Valkyrie’s we’ve met. The author also gives readers a tease of the next former Valkyrie to be brought into the fold, Eden, a poisons expert.
5 stars for Explosive Vengeance! I’m really loving these amazing, kick a$$ heroines and the men who are strong enough to love and support them.
Ms. Kaylea has never published a mediocre book. But, this book/series is phenomenal. If you love kick a$$ women with heart, then you’ll love this series. Grabs you by the seat of your pants and doesn’t let go.
I had raised my hopes for this installment quite a bit due to my disappointment with the previous book in the series, so I felt pretty dismayed when I got to the end of it and found that it hadn’t measured up to my hopes.
I really hated Chloe! She seemed hyper-focused to the point of extreme recklessness, not seeming to care about what consequences her actions would have on others in her circle. Only after tragedy happens does she pull back slightly and look to assess how things could affect others. Her portrayal of an ADD/ADHD person seemed more neurotic than grounded in reality, and she seemed more like an immature child than a grown adult woman and member of an elite covert agency!
Heath felt more like a prop for Chloe’s exploits than an actual hero. I didn’t see much in the way of romance building on his part. Sure, there was attraction between them, but it didn’t seem like enough to build a relationship on!
The plot was fast paced and engaging, but it didn’t develop any one idea fully. The romance was practically non-existent, and there weren’t many details given about the villains and their dastardly deeds, which made the suspense angle feel incomplete to me. However, there was a decent amount of time devoted to discussing the “new team” and how everyone was fitting into it, though it seemed like no progress was made on the “why do we have to form a new team in the first place” front.
All things considered, it was a good read, but left me wanting more. Perhaps the next book will be better?
4.5++ stars!! Explosive read!!
Part way into this book – I started to get a little confused over all the characters because I haven’t read every book in this series yet. However, soon after – I was so hooked that I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
Heath is a loyal, compassionate, selfless man and Chloe is a firecracker in every sense of the word. Their chemistry is explosive!
“And I’d find you again no matter where you were.” Sigh!
This book had drama, intrigue, steamy chemistry, friendship, girl power to the max and so much more.
Great story…good series…loads of banter!
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
I love a book where the women kick ass and take names. And Kaylea Cross has struck gold on that front with her Vengeance series. I had big eyes from the first daring page of Explosive Vengeance and didn’t want to put it down.
I really like Chloe. Her strength, determination and smarts. How she went all out for the causes near and dear to her heart. Which brings her knife to groin with Heath. Oh Heath. Such a good guy. Loyal. Dedicated. A healer and a true romantic. He had no idea what he was getting into when he answered that call from Ty (he’s in an earlier book of this series but you don’t need to read that one to follow along here).
It was a whirlwind of Plotting, danger and trying to stay two steps ahead of the target. While working in a team was new for Chloe, she embraced being reunited with one of her former Program mates. When the plans started falling apart, Chloe started spiraling and trying to make up for everything on her own. I liked that Heath called her out for her antics. That while he was willing to take risks with her, he wouldn’t let her put everyone and the big picture at risk.
With emotions high, bullets flying and more than one person with revenge on the mind, Explosive Vengeance was a non-stop thrill ride. While I wanted a hair more of the connection between Chloe and Heath, I was still fully engrossed in their romance and mission. AND! With a few little insights into some of the other Valkyries, I am looking forward to seeing where Kaylea Cross takes me next.
Hot damn, Explosive Vengeance surely lives up to it’s title! It starts out with a bang and goes full-throttle until the very last word!
I loved Chloe and Heath’s romance. Loved their meet-cute—or not so meet-cute if you asked Heath. Their connection was immediate—their attraction too. I loved how Heath brought out the soft side of Chloe. That he so desperately wanted to protect her—even from herself. And that Chloe brought out the want for more—more of a life, more of a desire for a family and love—in Heath. And herself.
And I loved the fierce friendship between Chloe and Megan. And the quickly developing friendships between the rest of the Valkyries. Their bond. Their trust.
And I cannot wait for more in this fantastic Vengeance Series. It’s truly romantic suspense at its finest!
*4.5 stars*
Explosive in so many ways…
Chloe was a kick-a$$ woman determined to even the justice scales. This lone Valkyrie was soon anything but as she had a whole team suddenly behind her, and they had her back…
Each woman in this deadly group had skills and talents to get themselves out of almost any situation. Chloe fit right in, using any advantage she had to complete her missions. Having a partner was something she never had, and didn’t want, but Heath knew his way around the battlefield, and soon found his way into her mind and her heart…
Chloe and Heath were like two halves a whole, not realizing they needed anyone until they found each other. Surprising, shocking, but no less cherished, they were living on borrowed time and both felt the relentless tick of the clock. Their chemistry, the dialogue, the heat… It came together seamlessly beside a story filled with action and suspense.
Vengeance may be the key that brought the entire crew together again but this story also brought high octane tension, supportive family and, of course, love… Another great addition to the series!
*Reviewed for Nerdy Dirty & Flirty
Chloe and Heath
Explosive vengeance is just that…..explosive Lots of action and suspense within these pages but also romance and a chance to have something neither one of these characters ever thought they’d have
I loved this story and how it all came together in the end and I’m looking forward to Eden’s story next and to see what else these Valkyries have up their sleeve
Boom! Boom! What an amazing story! I absolutely loved the suspense, killing action, and love that was strung throughout this book. When the incredibly strong heroine starts blowing stuff up, as in bad guys, it just sucks you in. You want to see just what else she is capable of. Then when she meets the man that steals her heart without her even realizing it, well dang!
I love Kaylea Cross’s books, she is one of the great authors that got me started on my obsession with reading.
When Megan gets confirmation of Chloe’s identity and whereabouts, she and Ty are to far away to reach her before she disappears again. Ty knows someone who is in Paris and could reach her and with Megan’s okay he calls Heath, telling him little and asking him to keep an eye on Chloe until they can get there, but not to approach her.
Unfortunately for Heath, Chloe turns the tables on him when she reaches her destination. Catching him unaware, he is stunned as he realizes Chloe is not a just a regular person, she’s highly trained and deadly.
Chloe isn’t one to trust and Heath has to decide how to handle this. He’d do anything for Ty but this was just a bit over the top. Plus the two of them end up on the run before Megan and Ty arrive. There’s unfinished business for Chloe to attend to and while she’s not used to having help, it’s something she won’t turn down.
I loved the way this book progresses, the attraction between Heath and Chloe is obvious, but it’s a slow simmer until they can trust each other. It’s always great to see other characters from the series so far and Megan and Ty are two of my favorites.
Plenty of action, intrigue and suspense, with some sizzle.
