A good solid read.
I enjoyed the pace of this book and the story line. Liked the development of the characters.
Had to overlook a few areas where I feel that the law enforcement said or did/didn’t do as they in real life would. Excellent read otherwise.
I likes the storyline but I had trouble keeping my attention on it in a few places. Saying that, I did download the 2nd book because I wanted to read Tate and Savannah’s story. I enjoy good christian intrigue books.
I am not usually a action-packed kind of reader, but I loved this book. It was hard to put down. The characters were believable.
Fast paced, yet great character development. The character were very real with strengths and weaknesses.
Kept me interested – lots of energy and twists along the way. Satisfying ending.
This was written in very choppy language, and seemed predictable. I wanted to finish the story, but I felt irritated with the way it was written.
2 stars
Mia is an ATF agent but returns to her hometown when she is injured. Conroy is a cop and is doing the duties that the Chief usually does. Years ago Conroy dated Mia’s sister and when she was killed in a car accident, Mia blamed Conroy. Strange things start happening around Mia and some of the crimes is like the last job Mia did that went wrong. Now Conroy tries to keep her safe and get her forgiveness.
First time reading this author and was not very good. Others said they didn’t know where one dialogue ended and another started but for once that looked fine to me. I almost didn’t finish it but had to find out how it ended. Some topics were repeated over and over. They let Mia’s little sister get away with her crimes when they were constantly talking about the law. It’s is a Christian romance suspense story and I did not know this at the time. Towards the end they talked about God a lot and that’s when I realized what genre it was.
This is the 1st book I read by Lisa Phillips. I liked the action in this story. This story had too much going on in it for me to keep up.
Lisa writes really strong characters, which I LOVE! This is a great book and the perfect start on a new series.
Mia is returning home and facing danger. Police Lieutenant Barnes would like to help but she is unwilling to receive his help because of her inability to forgive him for the death of her sister many years ago. There were lots of twists and turns in this story as the truth was revealed about the past. Great characters and a great book.
Expired Refuge is great and suspenseful.
While pursuing a suspect, Conroy runs into Mia. Mia, on leave from work, blames Conroy for her older sister’s death. Mia’s younger sister’s actions add to the story line and suspense.
I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
