Gilbert is the owner of a hotel in Morocco.
Louise is a journalist on a mission in Morocco.
I didn’t like Gilbert and how he decided everything for Louise, for example, the decision of the tattoo. There were a lot of things that were not explained, too many questions without an answer.
I couldn’t make a connection with the characters except with Ahmed. I liked him. He was polite, helpful and caring.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
A good concept, but the execution could use finessing.
We are presented with the story of Louise, a travel writer working for a magazine she’s no longer happy at and hoping to find a way to branch out on her own and even work remotely for a while from the hotel she’s staying at, with her colleagues in Morocco. She’s fresh off of a bad relationship that ended a few months ago, and left her with bruises, though it’s never said if those bruises are figurative or not.
We then meet Gilbert Dubois, the hotel manager and owner, who is a Frenchman that was effectively chased out of France, and seems to be someone who moves from relationship to relationship like a bee moves between flowers.
In seven chapters, plus an epilogue, these two characters are brought together and fall in love.
I will start off by saying that the premise itself is not bad. It’s a fairly typical start for a romance novel, especially a second chance billionaire romance. The problems I have are this: I couldn’t connect to the characters or the writing, the story was rushed and disjointed, which left me cringing in a few spots. To be perfectly honest, it felt like this book was a grammatically and spell checked proofread version of a first draft. It truly doesn’t feel or read like a finished product. I think it had a lot of potential and I definitely encourage the author to delve deep into it and give it a thorough editing and expansion.
Louise is the writer for a travel magazine at Prestigio in the US and has just arrived in Morocco for a photoshoot with Joshua and Emma. She was very impressed with the hotel or Riad as it is called in Marrakesh. She met Ahmed who was like a manager for the hotel and she meets Gilbert who is a very handsome Frenchman who runs the Riad for his father. Gilbert seems to be a playboy but he claims to Ahmed that he has changed his ways after and talking to Louise, Ahmed is not convinced. Things seem to happen fast after they spend a little time talking and then he shows her some sights and they become closer. Cute short story, characters are interesting, and the storyline is entertaining. I purchased this book. I am providing an honest review.
Louise is a travelling journalist. Gilbert is the owner of the hotel she is staying at. They both are looking for something. Will they find it in each other?
Gilbert and Louise have to learn to follow their heart. They have to get over their pasts and change their lifes, each in their own way but every path has obstacles. I loved discovering if they overcame their obstacles.
I enjoyed the little additional characters, the cat, Mustache, and Ahmed who both in their own way helped Louise and Gilbert to come together.
