Judi Culbertson returns with a page-turning mystery that answers every frequent flyer’s fear: What happens if I never make it home?Journalist Fiona Reina had every intention of picking up her boyfriend, Lee, from the airport and heading out for a nice dinner together. But when Lee isn’t on the plane, Fiona begins to get nervous. It seems Lee isn’t the only passenger who never arrived. Three other … arrived. Three other people are also missing. Worse, it seems they were never on the flight.
With no help from the airline, it’s up to Fiona and the friends and family of the missing passengers to discover what happened—and, more importantly, to find Lee. But when Fiona receives a mysterious note—It happened in between Denver and Taos—the patchwork team is thrust into a dangerous race against time…a race that could cost them more than who they’ve already lost.

The ending was disappointing. – really felt like I missed something. Actually went back and reread a good deal of it to see if I had missed something. – It seemed to have a lot of potential in the beginning – but unfortunately, somewhere in the middle that bright light dimmed.
This was a pretty good read though I found some of it to be just too illogical.
But the plot was interesting.
I enjoyed reading this book. It may be an easy read but still worth it. The plot keeps you wanting the next bit.
Definitely different
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy. – from Hamlet, Shakespeare
This was a real “suspend your disbelief from the first page” book. It had me shaking my head multiple times during the story because…c’mon, that’s not going to happen in real life. But I still ended up enjoying the book. I would have rated it 3 1/2 stars if I could have.
Fiona Reina is a freelance journalist who used to write a popular syndicated travel blog. Now she’s trying to figure out her professional and her personal life. She’s at the airport to pick up her boyfriend and he’s not on the expected arrival plane. She ends up finding out that there are other passengers that didn’t arrive as expected, too. She ends up rounding up the waiting people and they start trying to figure out what happened on a flight from Taos, New Mexico to Denver, Colorado. And then happenings get really bizarre.
This was an entertaining story and a fast read. I thought the characters could have been fleshed out more. Fiona was the lead character and even she felt two-dimensional.
I recommend this to people wanting a convoluted mystery that wouldn’t happen (in my opinion) but was still fun to read.
I would give this book 10 stars if I could. Most original plot I have ever read and I read a minimum of 3-4 books a week. I could not put it down from the first page to the last. A great read.
loved the story!
I haven’t quite finished it yet. And I still haven’t figured out what happened. Usually, a book that leaves me this puzzled this far into it, loses my interest. Not so with this book.
I like most of the characters. Well, the good guys, anyway. But in some cases I haven’t quite determined who are the bad guys. It is an interesting read!!!
It is definitely a page turner! I enjoyed the characters and the pacing. It is very eventful, sometimes tragic, sometimes amusing. I found it a big stretch that none of the characters contacted or wanted to contact law enforcement much earlier in the story. In my head I kept screaming – Call the police! It became a distraction after a while. Also, the events at The Great Sand Dunes are on federal land and the FBI wasn’t involved? Another stretch. Being from southern Colorado I enjoyed the familiar places in CO & NM.
I’m 69 years old and have ready literally thousands of books, the vast majority in the fiction category. It’s rare — VERY rare — that I will start a book but not finish it. As bad as some amateur writers are, I usually slog through a tedious work just to see the ending. This was the exception. 75% of the way through, I gave up.
The plot was excruciating … back and forth for no reason, contradictory timelines and way too drawn out. The characters were hollow. Their motivations unclear — or unbelievable. Their responses to crises totally unbelievable.
Sorry — this one didn’t impress.
Not realistic almost boring
Needed more explanation of the main story line. Good character development though.
boring…..
This one was one of those “can’t put it down” books. I loved it and will look for other books by this author.
