The heroine: Pagan – she sees ghosts though she doesn’t acknowledge them since they can’t talk to her. However, when she sees a handsome ghost outside her school and he talks to her, she doesn’t know what to think.
The Hero(es): Dank – he is Death, not a ghost. He isn’t surprised that she can see him but he is surprised that she sees other souls. He is fascinated by Pagan and inserts himself into her life. He breaks a rule for her.
The Story: Dank sometimes appears as a ghost to Pagan and sometimes appears as a real person, a rock star who starts attending her school. Pagan, thinking Dank is just a ghost, falls for and begins dating a guy named Leif, the football star at her school.
The story is original and interesting though I really disliked the narration. The narrator Ashley Litz has a fine voice for the heroine, Pagan and even when she does the guys voices it is pleasant, but her voices for other girls actually hurt my ears. They were high and extremely screeching, absolutely grating.
Though now that I am invested in the story, I plan to listen to the next book. I am just hoping there aren’t as many supporting characters that are girls.
This one was pretty fun. Not in my favorites, but I was entertained and really enjoyed the characters and story. I especially liked Dank. But the names in this series kund of suck. Haha!

This was another buddy read with Jamsu! It looks like we only buddy read paranormal romances! I think that “Existence” was one of the first kindle books I got, but never read it. Jamsu mentioned that she wanted to reread it, so I took the opportunity to finally read it.
Pagan is in her senior year of high school. She knows that something’s different for her, since she can see souls. It’s a secret she kept from her friends and family because she fears that they won’t understand. This year is different for her because there’s a soul that talks to her and interacts with her, Dank. Her day to day life changes. She has to tutor the school’s quarterback, Leif, and she fights it at first, since she doesn’t really like him. She doesn’t know that from one on everything will change for her.
The concept of the story is really interest. I haven’t read many books with souls and ghosts, so it was a nice change. I didn’t really like how Pagan was treating Leif. It felt unfair because he was nothing but kind and good with her. There are some pretty big revelations; I didn’t see all of them coming. The book left me with a big question I need answered, so we’ll get to book 2 soon!!!
* audio book review *
It has been a while since a book has consumed me fully. Well it happened with this one. This is the story of Pagan. She can see souls and she prefers to ignore them. That’s until she sees a boy who see assumes is a soul that captivates her and this one talks to her. She isn’t the only affected. This boy is different and for some reason is captivated by her too. She tries to ignore him and be a normal teenager until he turns out to be the rock star teenager at her school named Dank. She still tries to ignore him but the chemistry between them is undeniable. Then there is a major accident and this boy, who may be more than a soul, breaks all the rules. Pagan struggles to balance her life and also figuring out more about Dank who can talk to her in her head and appear when he wants. And the other souls she sees, fear him. Slowly she falls in love with this boy but it’s complicated since he states they can’t be anything to each other. Also she has her own boyfriend that loves her but she feels guilty that her heart is already given away. This book had me guessing from page one until the end. And the end just makes me crave more and I can’t start the next one fast enough. I saw some reviews didn’t like the narration. What are they talking about? I am so glad I listened to this on audio. It made the story come alive for me and the narrator did a great job between the voices. I can’t suggest this book enough. But I do warn you that you will become obsessed with this story. I am.
