19 years to get there. 8 years in orbit. “Three minutes to evacuate.”
Nine brilliant scientists travel light years on a one-way trip to an Earth-like planet. Their mission is to study from orbit the two species of intelligent lifeforms on the surface. The first: an isolated people embarking on civilization and building their world’s first city. The second: a brutal race of massive predators, … predators, spread thick and still growing across the dominant landmass — destined to breed and eat their way to extinction within a few centuries.
After eight years of observation, disaster strikes the orbiting station and only two crewmembers eject successfully. Drifting down through a dark alien sky, the pair realizes their escape pod launched not toward the safety of the city, but to the other side of the planet, touching down deep inside a land no human could possibly survive.

Great subject matter and very original- very well written.
I was surprisingly entertained by this funky science fiction tale. I wish the author had written something similar to follow this book. Fun!
Interesting take on an alien world. Could visualize it. An easy read.
Here we have a group of people specially selected to study the civilization discovered on Epsilon. These folk accepted a one way ticket to do this study, earth is dying and already there are pioneers heading out to habitable worlds. Could Epsilon be one?
Our leading characters are Minnie, John, Aether, and Ish. There are others and they are …
Unusual and imaginative
Excellent read.
Love the interesting approach to first contact. Great intrigue! Love the characters, the world,… good book.
Silly romantic scify novel. Teen girls might like it.
Interesting enough, though the author thought it necessary to shoehorn in the recently obligatory homosexual relationship.
Don’t get the feeling of jeopardy, that one would expect, even the characters aren’t to worried, needs more!
Great science, action, adventure and most of all…imagination.
couldn’t manage to finish this…
The story was a good one which kept me interested, although there were times when a situation simply ended with a change of scenery without a resolution. I did like the story line of trying to locate another “earth-like” planet for a defunct Earth.
Overall it was good but it jumped around a bit too much between the individuals involved.
Great concept, too long and some characters too shallow and introspective.
very difficult read:
…the massive psych imperfections of this group of people never let me fall in love with them. It was like a psychological gumbo, where the scientists spent more time on their inner lives than the discoveries around them.
…the writing was dense, full of jargon, took quite some effort to get into and relate to. This also …
