Great Book 1, Exes and Goals, from the Slapshot Series
This was the first book I read from Heather Myers and I am hooked on the Slapshot Series, wanting to read more about these hot & sexy bad boys of hockey. The hockey world thinks Zach is a disloyal playboy. But, once he is settled in a new city & begins meshing with his new team, he begins to show another side of himself because it seems he has some kind of connection with Harper, his new team’s social media blogger. As they begin to spend more time together, their chemistry starts to heat up but when Harper’s past causes issues for the both of them, is their new connection strong enough to overcome her past? Definitely Recommend Exes & Goals, with Zach & Harper’s journey! Who would want to miss reading about Zach, such a hot & sexy, yet, sweet & swoon-worthy bad boy of hockey! Great secondary characters to spark readers interest in reading more books in this series.
While I did receive a copy of this book to review via BookSprout, I also had purchased this book and am voluntarily leaving my voluntary opinion & review.
Well written, Greta characters, intriguing story line.
Knowledge of hockey evident throughout the details
Easy story to read. Harper gets her dream job, blogging for her favourite hockey team and getting paid. New signing from Toronto, Zach, comes with same bad press but once she gats through his layers you know his an honest and trustworthy guy. Harper’s Ex reappears to throw his special brand of crazy into her budding new relationship.
I liked the premise of the story. The characters are likeable. I just feel the book could gave done with a bit more proofreading to help with the continuity between scenes and chapters – discrepancies such as how long she was out of a relationship with her ex; days of the week; clothing in scenes….
overall I did like the book – sweet and romantic and steamy moments are pretty much all over the book 🙂
Great book with fantastic characters and awesome information regarding abusive relationships !
Harper is a blogger and she blogs for the Newport Beach Seagulls Hockey team. They have had some bad press lately with the owner getting murdered and the granddaughter taking over. They haven’t been on a winning streak and are in serious need of help. Players are leaving and having to get new players has created chaos. Harper has been tasked to write about one of the player, Zack to try and get better publicity and boost the team. Together these two have such a strong chemistry and meld well together. But Harper has an abusive ex who doesn’t want to let her go. It was great how Zach helped Harper to be a stronger person. Good start to this series

Harper was hired to blog for her favorite team the Newport Beach Seagulls. Harper’s assigned to do a piece on Zachary Ryan is the newest player on the team. Harper and Zach have great chemistry and get along great. The characters are believable and the story flowed nicely. Can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
The good storyline and the well detailed characters grabbed my attention from the very first page and wouldn’t let it go until I finished reading every page of this wonderful book!
An amazing first book to start off what I suspect is a very interesting and engaging series. The story is well written and the plot is well developed, consistent, and enjoyable. The characters are intriguing and the chemistry between them is intense and hot. A compelling storyline that is guaranteed to drag you in from page one. Definitely recommended.

I really enjoyed reading this book and I found that it is a good story to kick off the series with. However, once I got to the end of the book I seen in the book listing for this author that there are 3 prequel books for this series. I was not sure what to think at this point but I felt that I didn’t miss anything when reading this book and I also feel I can also move forward successfully in the series. I really enjoyed reading about Zach and Harper. Both of these characters come with a past. Zach seems to have been able to leave his behind by switching hockey teams. Harper thinks hers is behind her until she forgets to renew the restraining order against her ex, Bryan. This creates all kinds of conflicts between Zach and Harper and of course both of their pasts become their presents and have to be dealt with in order to move forward together for a future. There is a lot of other characters introduced in this book and will make for an interesting series to see how the Seagull’s come together under new ownership and majority new teammates.

A good start to a new sports romance series with an interesting plot and relatable characters.
I loved the chemistry and interactions between the main characters.
I look forward to reading more in the Slapshot Series.

I loved this book. The story was about so much more than just a struggling hockey team. The characters faced real emotional, professional and psychological problems which were handled beautifully by the author. Highly recommend. Look forward to reading more in this series.

I really enjoyed this book!
The story line progressed well and the chemistry between the two mains was believable in such a sincere way.
Zach is the new starter on the team and Harper is enlisted as the teams social blogger with a douche bag ex determined to cause problems.
This was a sweet read that I finished in one sitting. It was a great story that kept me entertained with a need to know what happens next!
The relationship between Harper and Zach was one that sneaks up on you a little but the obvious emotions between the two was what kept this one relatable for me. It just felt really honest and I loved that about this book!
There was just enough of a tease for some other potential books with hints at something happening between secondary characters which was a great way to entice me into a series I now want to dive into.
The story was written in the third person pov so sometimes I found it a little harder to get right into the story but after a couple chapters the writing was flowing and I was invested in the story.
4 stars
Great potential storyline and characters, but a bit of trouble with continuity…flow. Zach’s back story could have been expanded a touch and although there is always love at first sight, this was anticlimactic. Will probably read book 2, to see if writing matures!
