In 2068, androids are an integrated part of human life. Big Brother no longer just watches from the shadows. It’s in every household. Lloyd Salter has OCD issues with noise, mess, and he’s uncomfortable with human interaction. When his ex claimed the only thing perfect enough to live up to his standards was an android, Lloyd dismissed it. But two years later, after much self-assessment, he … self-assessment, he thinks he may have been right.
SATinc is the largest manufacturer of androids in Australia, including the Fully Compatible Units known as an A-Class 10. Their latest design is the Synthetic Human Android UNit, otherwise known as SHAUN.
Shaun is compatible to Lloyd’s every need; the perfect fit on an intellectual and physical basis. But Lloyd soon realises Shaun’s not like other A-Class androids. He learns. He adapts. Sure that SATinc is aware Shaun functions outside of his programmed parameters, Lloyd must find a way to keep Shaun safe.
No one can know how special Shaun is. No one can know he’s evolved.

What can I say besides “READ IT” about Evolved by NR Walker? That it was beautiful, endearing, funny, quirky, sexy, amazing, different, and emotional. In case you can’t tell- I loved it. Going in I didn’t know what to expect, I mean I knew I would read it because it’s NR, but I’ll admit the whole “robot doll thing” had me cautious. While I was reading it, though, the story threw ALLLL my reservations out the window.
Some highlights:
-The plot was different. I’ve never read anything like it, mind you I don’t read sci-fi often at all, so reading about a human and an android falling in love was entirely different for me.
-Humor. Subtle humor will always be a big win in my book. I often found myself smiling and giggling in certain parts.
-Relationship development- it just clicked for me. I was buying what NR was selling! Is it insta-lovish? I guess, but it made sense for these characters.
-SEX. SCORCHING. HOT. SEX.
-The emotional connection between Shaun and Lloyd was palpable; I had butterflies in my stomach.
-The end was pluperfect. Loving and full of hope.
In conclusion, I have zero negatives to report; I loved everything about Evolved. 5+ Stars! Going on my Top 10 for 2018.
REEEEEAD IIIIITTTTTTT!
I love this author and all her work. I was not sure I would like this book, set in the future MM story, so I didn’t read it as it was released. How wrong I was, yes it’s set in the future, 2068 to be exact, but loved the questions it posed about what that time would be like. I listened to the audio book. Joel Leslie did an amazing job. Loved it!
As I started listening to this story, I was thinking “ummm, is this something I should be listening to? Is it wrong of me?”
I mean, is it wrong to have emotions about a fictional android?
However, the further I got into the story, the less I thought of SHAUN as an android and he became more and more of a wonderful man that I couldn’t help but adore.
I mean, a walking, talking sex toy was not something I thought I would enjoy reading about.
However as Shaun “evolved” it was easy to forget he was circuit boards and silicon.
This story did at times make me wonder if we as humans are starting to take things a little far? Technology is wonderful and there are so many things that we could do with it, but should we?
It just goes to show that NR Walker can write about anything and I will read it and love it!
Great narration by Joel Leslie, who has fast become a favourite.
4.5*
I found this book so endearing, in a hard to wrap my head around it kind of way.
Now that I’m getting back to this one, I’ve decided to round it up to 5* instead of down to 4* like I did originally, because the more I think about it, the more I love it. Yes, it’s quite odd, having an android as a love interest, but it was a truly engaging story.
Lloyd is such a compelling character. I haven’t wanted to jump into my Kindle in awhile to hug someone, but I did with him. And like it says in the blurb, Shaun really is special. And together these two were pluperfect.
EVOLVED BY N.R. WALKER – WOW
This book simply kept me hooked from page one!
AWESOME READ!!! BEST MM CYBORG story I’ve ever read!!!
Shaun and Lloyd are the sweetest and most caring couple and all the story plot kept me turning page after page without pausing!
The sex scenes were to tender and hot..
A DEFINITELY MUST READ
N.R. Walker did it again!
I’m blushing, giggling, swooning and crying because of Shaun!
Read it in one sit and that was the best 6 hours in my life!
If I can only use one word to describe this book, It would be pluperfect!
I don’t know where the inspiration came from or what was actually ‘possessed’ the author when she decided to write this story, but I definitely bless the day when that plot bunny spirit came to her mind and feels so grateful when the author let the characters ‘speak’ to her and finally write a story that way beyond her usual types and out of her comfort zone. Because this book is definitely another epic write from the author and I Floved it!
Shaun’s child-like innocence side made him look adorably cute, but at the same time, his eagerness for sex and pleasures and his constants naughty flirting at Lloyd and his need to be loved, wanted and belong has made the story also fun and heartwarming at the same time. Both Lloyd and Shaun are really adorkable and all wrapped in very interesting and beautiful story that will give you constant swooning and will melted your heart.
Oh I wish this book will made into movie someday…
Definitely A MUST read book from N.R. Walker!!!!

To be honest, I have no clue how to review Evolved. This is the first book of its kind I’ve read, outside of Young Adult virtual reality books that are slightly similar, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I was hooked during the first paragraph, reading the entire book in one sitting without interruption, feverishly clicking to see what happened next.
Lloyd is analytical, an introvert, who had tactile and sensory issues when dealing with his fellow humans, combined with OCD. With a similar personality, I ‘got’ Lloyd, how you feel as if you’re cold due to being too analytical and exacting. At the same time, I understood how he felt skeeved out when it came to consent with his android. Lloyd didn’t want to feel as if he was taking advantage, purchasing a companion. While some would perceive these attributes as warring personality traits, you can be highly empathetic and caring, while also being analytical and perceived as emotionally cold.
Watching Shaun evolve through the duration of the book was a delight. The android’s sense of humor, his randiness, his forcefulness, all of this added levity and depth, almost more human/humanity than Lloyd brought to the table.
The human was more android-like than the android, and the android was more human-like than the human, which created an intriguing story and balance to their relationship.
The story itself was hyper-focused on Lloyd and Shaun’s interactions, with a very small cast of characters. There was a heavy influence on between-the-sheets action, which was both inventive yet clinical, while also bringing in warmer emotions.
As the book evolves so does Shaun. As Shaun evolves, Lloyd’s fear strengthens, adding the sharp edge of conflict.
I was entertained during every page, felt intrigued, hot and bothered, and emotional near the ending. Evolved was a unique book, showing love from a different viewpoint, the open-mindedness could/should help the reader be more open in reality to all forms of love.

When the opportunity to review this book came up on my review team I almost passed it up because sci-fi isn’t my thing. However, it was by N.R. Walker, so I read the blurb and told our review team guru “I don’t normally read this genre but the blurb reminds me of the movie Bicentennial Man and I loved that movie.” I started reading the book on a Friday night and I kept putting it down. Not because I didn’t like it but because I fell in love with it and never wanted it to end!!! I loved Lloyd and how he always wanted Shaun to be called Shaun and not an android. I love how their relationship and story evolved. I was at a crucial part in the book and a few tears had started to slip out when my husband decided we both needed to go to the store. I was like no!!! I need to finish this book. To which he said it would be here when we got back. I told him to be prepared for waterworks because I just KNEW I was gonna cry like a baby!!! Guess what?? I cried like a baby!! It was so amazingly good. If I could give it a million stars I would. This book will be my go-to book when I need a feel-good story. I am so glad I decided to give it a go!
