The greater the Evil, the more deadly the game… herself exposed to great danger and in the sights of a lethal individual undertaking their own twisted experiment.
Up against a sociopath who seems to know her every weakness, for Detective Stone, each move she makes could be deadly. As the body count starts to mount, Kim will have to dig deeper than ever before to stop the killing. And this time – it’s personal.
Absolutely UNPUTDOWNABLE, nail-bitingly tense and with a twist that will put your jaw on the floor. If you love Rachel Abbott, Val McDermid or Mark Billingham, this will keep you flipping through the pages long into the night, and desperate to read the rest in this multi-million copy-selling series.
Watch out for more from Detective Kim Stone
A detective hiding dark secrets, Kim Stone will stop at nothing to protect the innocent. Silent Scream is the first book in the series.
What readers are saying about Evil Games…
‘Angela Marsons has done it again! Evil Games is an absolutely cracking, five-star read – I devoured it in one sitting. Kim Stone has rapidly become one of my favourite ever detectives, and in this second novel in the DI Stone series she kicks ass more than ever, and I have, once again, been left panting in the corner in dire need of a cup of tea!’ Reading Room with a View
‘I’m a little bit speechless to be honest at just how incredible this book was… one of the best new crime authors of 2015, maybe even the decade… Evil Games is a must read book, and probably one of the best I will read this year.’ Book Addict Shaun
‘Silent Scream (Book 1) was quite brilliant. Evil Games (Book 2) is EXCEPTIONAL. Clearly, the current rating system is broken as it’s unable to accommodate books of this calibre. So I give you – 6/5.’ Little Bookness Lane
‘Evil Games is a clever, action-packed journey into some of society’s darkest places, crackling with tension and wit. And DI Kim Stone is the most fascinating character to arrive on the scene since Val McDermid gave us Tony Hill. This is a no-brainer. Read Evil Games. You won’t regret it.’ Mark Edwards
‘Evil Games is a fabulously dark and chilling read… I am a huge fan of D.I. Kim Stone and can’t recommend this series highly enough.’ By the Letter Book Reviews
‘Yet again Angela Marsons has written a 5* crime novel. I loved Silent Scream… Evil Games is certainly as good as the first, if not better, and I wish I could give it a higher rating than 5/5.’ Off the Shelf Book Reviews
‘Once again, Angela Marsons takes us into the life of the brilliant loner DI Kim Stone and gives us an exciting, slightly chilling and totally thrilling read. This is one book that exceeded all of my expectations… Get yourself ready to take a day off and immerse yourself in this book. It is worth it.’ Northern Crime
‘Angela Marsons is fast becoming THE one to watch in this genre and I would defy anyone not to read and enjoy her writing… She truly has a brilliant mind and this book did not disappoint… This story has everything, it is riveting, emotional, sad and most of all it has a depth that not many novels can claim to have… I highly recommend this one, Simply brilliant.’ Postcard Reviewsmore
I have read every book of the DI Kim Stone series – and highly recommend all of them.
I am loving this series. Kim Stone is a wonderfully complex character whose detective skills far exceed her social ones. Suspense, fast pace, emotional investment in the characters–all the right elements for a real page-turner. I’m not a big fan of female villains–they don’t always ring true–but with Alex, Marsons has created a believable and chilling adversary for the usually unflappable Kim Stone. Loved this book and I look forward to reading the rest.
Captivating, dark, and incredibly chilling!
Evil Games is a skillfully crafted, perfectly executed police procedural that highlights just how easily vulnerable people can be swayed and manipulated into doing some of the most horrific things and reminds us that the most heinous of evil often lives comfortably amongst us merely concealed behind masks of normality.
The writing style is edgy and brisk. The characters, including the scarred, tormented, intelligent heroine, are genuine, driven, and persistent. And the plot is a sinister rollercoaster ride of twists, turns, secrets, deception, violence, manipulation, deviance, child abuse, rape, violence, revenge, and murder.
I have to admit that over the past six years that I’ve been reviewing novels, I’ve seen a lot of Angela Marsons books floating around and am shocked that it has taken me this long to finally pick one up. Evil Games is a disturbing, sinister, enthralling tale that has everything you look for in a riveting thriller, including multilayered characters and juicy, complex storylines, and even though it does have a lot of triggers that will prevent some people from being able to read it, I for one loved it and am eagerly looking forward to getting my hands on some of the other DI Kim Stone novels in the series as soon as possible.
I love Kim Stone, terrific character
fabulous series definite must read
I will say it takes some getting used to when she has character speaking with the English accent into the dialogue…I have to pause to try to figure out what they are saying…once I get past that, it is such a good read.
Her plot twists, character twists keep you guessing…I LOVE THAT..I detest a book I figure it out early because I have one of those minds that I have to finish it if I start it. THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD READ. AND the characters are likable, able to relate to them. I know Kim is flawed, BUT it is believe flaws once you get her back story and makes you know why…AND NOT SO FLAWED YOU CAN NOT STAND THE CHARACTER.
I love her writing….I must buying the next 1 and have over 200 books in my library to read…
BUY HER BOOKS YOU WILL FIND YOU CAN NOT PUT THEM DOWN.
DI Kim Stone is still tying up loose ends with the Dunn case when she is burdened with the murder of Allan Harris. I’m sorry did I say “tying up loose ends”. Well it seems as if there was a second person present in the room while Leonard Dunn was sexually assaulting his two young girls.
The murder of Mr. Harris isn’t as simple as it may seem to everyone else in the detective’s unit. DI Stone is on her own when it comes to proving that the well renowned Dr. Alexandra Thorne has anything to do with it. But facing Alex could mean unraveling the binds that keep her family secrets locked up tight where they are safest.
HOLY CRAP! As I’ve said on Twitter, Angie is a thrill ride genius! Ok, where do I start on this one?
The complexity of this story is mindboggling. First of all you have two cases working simultaneously. But one of the cases is actually three, no four, no five… oh heck, several cases in one. But don’t get overwhelmed by that. Marsons does an amazing job giving little hints to jog your memory on which part of which case each of these characters belong throughout the book. Making it easier to keep up.
My minor complaint in the first book about character development of the other detectives was addressed in this book and I enjoyed getting to know each of them a little better. I also really liked seeing a bit more depth in the relationship between Kim and Bryant. You see a bit more of their understanding of one another and Kim even throws Bryant a little bone at the end.
Now the obvious…Alex. Marsons obviously did her homework when it comes to sociopaths! I’m tempted to give away too much, but I want you to read the book! It scared me how well Marsons was able to throw herself into the mind of someone so sick. Alex is brilliant and absolutely brilliantly written. Mix brilliance and take away a conscience and what do you get? Evil. And her games are certainly that!
That leaves me with one question… Angela Marsons, when can we expect book three?!
Oh, and FYI, unlike most series, you won’t be lost if you read this one first. However, Silent Scream was fabulous and shouldn’t be missed!

Have read all the Detective Kim Stone series by Ms Marsons..
I love all of Angela Marsons’ books….unpredictable. I feel as though I know each and every character. I never know where the plot is heading!
Love the main character, Kim. While the plot is a bit far-fetched, I still enjoyed it. I am currently reading the rest of the series.
I have read all of Angela Marsens books. I really prefer the English mysteries. The deed has already been done ( and there isn’t the gore and pain that American mysteries like to display), and the excitement is in the procedures of “who done it”. I would recommend these books to anyone who is sick of the gore.
Angela Marsons Kim Stone series has become one of my favorites. I love her writing style and find it hard to put these books down.
