Christmas ushers in snowstorms, fruitcake, and a horde of Santa’s naughty elves… possible—after all, with the holiday baking, delectable crumbs are everywhere.
Estes Park’s new Christmas store is chosen to receive exclusive rights to sell a much-coveted collection of tiny elf figurines, but not everyone is thrilled, especially not the owner of the original Christmas shop. Bickering between local merchants is nothing new and doesn’t dampen the Christmas cheer or holiday glee. However, when nightly break-ins begin to occur, Santa himself is caught in the act, Fred and Watson are pulled away from the bookshop to investigate the holiday mayhem.
Unfortunately, while Santa keeps a list of nice and naughty children, he’s allowed his elves to have free rein, and there’s nothing nice about them…
(This culinary cozy mystery includes a recipe for honestly delicious fruitcake.)

Another delightful Cozy Corgi Mystery! I love the many red herrings in this one that keeps the reader’s attention glued to the page-turning story. In addition, the author adds interesting characters and uses intriguing ways of interaction between all the characters in each book.
Okay so there have been some crazy Christmas stories but this truly takes the fruitcake. I can’t get over who the killer was, I mean seriously? The whole Susan friend connection is kinda weird too BUT I think I like it. Katie is such a sweetheart and I almost cried when the bakery was destroyed, she didn’t deserve THAT! This series just keeps getting better!
These books are just wonderful. I can’t wait for the next one.
This is one of my favorite installments in the Cozy Corgi Mysteries. Fred and Watson, along with the usual Estes Park quirky characters, are trying to figure out who is dressing as Santa and leaving elf figurines in different businesses and homes. (I feel more concerned with the breaking and entering than the townspeople!) This is a nice change for Fred, who is more accustomed to trying to solve murders around town. Of course, nothing can ever be that easy, and Fred and Detective Susan Green work together better than they have before to try to solve the latest crimes.
I love this group of wacky people and pups, and I am so happy every time a new mystery in the series is released. I love seeing Katie, Leo, Fred’s family, and all the local business owners. Fred’s corgi Watson rules the town in so many ways, but he does have some pretty good canine company. This is such a fun series, and I recommend it to those who love both mysteries and dogs.
I have loved all of this author’s books. They are a combination of mystery, comedy and romance. The best part for me is that the romance is not the usual…it seems real. Real people having a real relationship,
not the over-the-top kind that is in so so many books. If I read any of that type is it despite the relationship parts (that I tend to skip over).
Also the comedy isn’t staged, it is slipped into normal things. These are simply very very good books, and I can’t wait for the next one. Too bad
that writing takes a whole lot longer (and is a great deal more difficult) than reading, but my pleasure when there is a new book is immense.
Another day in Estes Park, another mystery for Fred to resolve… and of course, there is still that mysterious envelope from Branson, hidden away but not forgotten. Evil Elves starts out quite cheery, very much in keeping with the holiday season, but then the atmosphere gradually becomes more threatening and what started out as an almost playful elfish mystery turns dark and dangerous. I was very surprised at the reveal of the culprit(s), didn’t see that coming at all. I’m rooting for Fred and Leo, they seem so perfect for each other and had some amazing moments together. As always so much of the charm of these books also comes down to the wonderful vibe of the town and all its inhabitants. It’s always great to see how all the secondary characters are doing. I have a soft spot for officer Cabot, he means so well poor dear, and I wouldn’t mind seeing more of Katie and a certain someone.
I must confess I’ve fallen quite hard for this series, and mostly I blame Watson for that. I never knew I wanted a Corgi in my life until I took a chance on these books
The Cozy Corgi series never ceases to entertain me! At the beginning of the story I felt like this one just might be a lighter, whimsical mystery but just when I’m settled into figuring out who is spreading Christmas spirit all over Estes Park, things take a darker twist. Still I loved all of my favorite characters and their unique personalities popping up throughout the story and the reminder of the strong foundation between Katie, Leo and Fred. This has to be one of my favorite series with the humor, love, twists and strong sense of family.
Evil Elves is the 15th in the Series of Cozy Corgi Mysteries by Margaret Abbott.
If you have Never read a BOOK in the Series this can be a Stand alone.
If you are a Regular YOU will find many Characters your familiar with but many New Characters and New Stores. So you ‘ll need to stay alert.

Except Fred’s Park Ranger boyfriend Leo, who is off on a week long visit with his family that has long irritated him.
Fred has a dark secret concerning Leo and a hidden Manilla envelope that has his name on it causing her to be anxious and jittery. She has told no one. No
one knows except the person who gave it to her a few months back, Halloween when the last murders were were wrapping up. She has NOT opened it just shoved
it out of sight. She is not sure if the information is truth or to mess with her mind or to break her up with Leo or mix? Thing’s are So good does she date know?
Her Eccentric Uncle Percival comes over rolling his eyes, again. She is wearing
he trademark broomstick skirt and at a Party no less. He had come to her house
and have herbs makeover before Leo took her to Pasta Thyme a very very good Restaurant. She admitted Uncle Percival was good minus the makeup, she had to take it all off. The outfit was Fabulous, she looked magnificent.
Delilah could be seen across the room with her gorgeous red hair, but they weren’t talking since Fred violated her Pink Panther meeting by spying. They may never recover their friendship from what Fred did. Sweet Paulie owner of Paws
pet Shop is there without his beloved Corgis Flotsam and Jetsam.
As Gentry popped the cork on champagne, everyone had a flute filled.
Barry, Stepfather to Fred wearing his trademark tiedye outfit is 1 of 3 favorite humans to Watson’s World. He happened be waving bacon hor d’oeuvres saying
“Bacon from hor d’oeuvres is murder”. Katie Pizzolato business co partner with Fred run the fabulous Gourmet bakery upstairs in the bookstore. About the
hor d’oeuvres Katie replied to Barry saying “It’s delicious murder”
Fred is ready to leave but can’t find the host’s to say goodbye. Someone wants
to escort her … Thing’s begin to happen.. Rather than tell YOU -I can’t because it would be giving ~Spoilers ~ 🙁
I will say Officer Susan Green and Jr Officer Campbell Cabot will join in later and such magnificent fun they are. Mis matched duo causes much fun. If you know anything about them Officer Susan holds disdain for pretty much every thing.
You almost can Hear it in her American Gladiator glum tone when she speaks
The “I don’t want to be talking to anyone at this moment” tone. 🙂 Great lines
I read some of her pages several times and can already Quote them. Funny.
The bumbling Jr Officer is very adorably fun too.
Watch the twists and turns on Who is good Santa bad Santa or how MANY Santa’s. Who is leaving Elves,… Well you must-read the rest.
I enjoyed it. In 1 sitting broke for a salad. Had to finish. Loved it. Will be ordering
The next.
I received an ARC copy prior to release for an honest review.
In no way did it alter my opinion.
