You know that group of people in school that everyone fears? Popular. Beautiful. The in-crowd?That was my family. Kind of.We were above that group. We held court over everyone else. We were the best looking. We were the mysterious and elusive ones. Most of the girls wanted to (and did) date the guys, but they didn’t want to be one of us. They couldn’t be. They were our prey.We were the feared. But … the feared.
But like every family, nothing is as it seems. That was my truth.
Kellan was in his own league. He was our leader and he was the one no one messed with. No one dared. He was ruthless, powerful, and no one could match him…
Except for me.
I was about to find out just how different I was from my family.
**Evil is a full-length paranormal romance stand-alone.

‘Evil’ is my first book by Tijan that I’ve read. I really enjoyed the writing style and the story. I enjoy reading paranormal stories and this is one of the best ones that I read.
Story is about a battle between Angels and Demons, which is my new favorite paranormal topic. The Braden siblings, Kellan, Shay, Giuseppa, and Vespar, who are gorgeous, mysterious and feared by everyone in school. Braden siblings reminded me of Cullens from ‘Twillight’ but later on I figured that they are nothing like Cullens other then being gorgeous, mysterious and powerful. Kellan is the oldest. He is hot, mysterious and totally the alpha. Guiseppa and Vespar are twins and they are the youngest and the craziest ones in the family. They are not afraid of using their powers and sometimes they are really careless. They are afraid of Kellan, which makes them little more cautious. Shay is the middle kid of the family. She is different than her siblings. She doesn’t look or act like her siblings. Even though, she knows she has powers, she rejects to use them. She wants to be normal high school student and live as normal as she can. She doesn’t use her powers and because of the spell that was cast when she was young, she doesn’t remember some parts of her childhood and when she starts to remember those memories, she starts having problems to control her powers.
Kellan is really protective of Shay and they have a really strong bond, which allows them to communicate through their minds. The bond between Kellan and Shay is something twins doesn’t like and understand. Twins also know that Shay and Kellan are way powerful then them.
Even though Shay wants to live a normal life, when her memories begin to come back, she has no choice but accept who she really is and start to face her past. Kellan knows everything about Shay’s past and who she really is but he wants her to find out at her own time. When Shey starts to figure out, who she is, the true battle starts. Because of the strong bond between Shey and Kellan, there are people who wants their powers, the only thing they don’t realize is their bond is too strong for them to break.
The book is full of action and it is hard to guess what is coming next. I read it in one sitting and it felt like, it ended too soon. I wish there was more to read about Kellan and Shey.
Would I recommend the book: Yes
Would I re-read this book: Yes
Would I read future books by this author: Definitely

I absolutely love most Tijan books, but this one was just not for me. In the beginning of the book I was really intrigued and felt like this would be my kind of book. In the end, unfortunately it wasn’t. Possible spoilers ahead, so please only read further at your own risk. The writing itself was good and I liked the idea of the story itself, but I also felt that the story was a bit complicated at times and all over the place. It didn’t get sucked in the story like I normally have whilst reading and I found myself skimming certain parts of the book. The whole sibling not sibling thing kind of threw me off as well, since I was wondering when the love interest would be introduced, only realizing I had known him all along. I felt this part was a bit rushed and I did not have time to adjust to this new relationship between them (if you do not mind this, I think you will enjoy the book way more than I did). For a standalone I would have expected a more “closed” ending. I mean there was a happy ending, but it was left very open. Even though, this book wasn’t for me, it might be for you!

This is my first book of Tijan’s I read and it won’t be the last. I love a good paranormal read and this book was phenomenal. Amazing characters and story that had me hooked from the start. Kellan will definitely become your next book boyfriend. Definitely was shocked how some events unfolded and I love that the story was predictable. Great 5 star read that everyone should read.
Shay is finding her world is no longer as it seems, she’s different then her siblings and there are so many things she is about the learn and experience.. her life will change dramatically forever!
Although I really enjoyed this book I felt there were parts that lacked some potential intensity , I think I would have liked more intensity between Kellan and shay or really seen them come into their powers like they kept taking about the whole time but didn’t eventuate like I thought it would . Even their ‘bonding ‘ moment was skimmed over and lacked any intensity at all really . It could have been an epic moment of change for them .
I also thought more could or would come from
Kellans interaction with his dad .. the scene was pretty crazy but it felt too quick and was over as quick as it started …
I liked it, but it wasn’t my favorite 😉
Paranormal is usually not my cup of teas far as books go, however, Tijan wrote this little gem and showed me that not all paranormal is the same old crazy story. Shay is a high school student and a member of the infamous Braden family. The Braden’s are well respected (well really well feared if I’m being honest) by all of the other students in their high school. No one dares cross a Braden without being prepared to fight. There are four Braden siblings in all: Shay, Kellan, Giuseppe (Gus), and Vespar. The kicker is that Shay is very different than her siblings, so much so that its somewhat problematic for the family.
Kellan knows a secret that will unlock the mystery that Shay has yet to solve. Lines will be drawn and a battle will be fought. Who wins, good or evil? What is evil really anyway? And evil demon or an evil angel? Tijan truly did an amazing job of opening my eyes.
3.5 stars
Evil is not what you think…
Some people are evil. Not all demons are evil beings. Not everything is as it seems.
Trust is earned. Love is given. You may not be able to stop loving someone but you can stop trusting them.
Shay lives a complicated lie. She isn’t human. She masquerades as one at the local high school but it isn’t enough for her. Her life isn’t what she wants. Her siblings seem content but Shay isn’t.
As she continues to question the things her siblings do, she meets a stranger that will change everything. But will it be for the better?
This book was such a refreshing change of pace for me because I can count on one hand how many paranormal novels I’ve read and after reading EVIL, it has me searching out other paranormal novels. My typical genre of choice is romance (of essentially any kind), but nothing with a paranormal element to it, so it was nice reading a “romance” such as this with that aspect.
For me this was SUPERNATRAL (TV show) meets MORTAL INSTRUMENTS!
EVIL is a full-length paranormal romance stand-alone with a major plot line of Angel’s vs Demons. Told from the POV of Shay Braden, EVIL centers on Shay and how she is trying to differentiate herself from her family. “I knew that I’d wanted to break free from the Braden name. There were rules that went with being in our family, but I wasn’t totally one of them. I was different. Somehow. I felt that a part of me wanted to act on it, as if setting it is motion that I really wasn’t one of them.” –Shay. Shay knew she was different from the average human, what with her powers and all, but where she really felt different was compared to her family. She didn’t seem to share any of their attributes, from their thirst to torment the everyday humans in their high school down to their differences in appearances. “Kellan, Giuseppa, and Vespar were all tall with the blond good looks they inherited from our mother. Not me. I stood a couple of inches below them with black as night hair that teased just below my shoulder blades.” –Shay. Little did she know she was about find out just how different she really was.
Throughout EVIL, we get to follow Shay and her siblings in their endeavors to fight heaven and hell (literally) and battling to determine what and who is good and who is evil and in the middle of all that, Shay is battling with who she really is. She’s spent a lot of her life wishing she was “different” and now she finds out she is…how will she handle that?
Family vs Family.
Good vs Good.
Evil vs Evil.
Good vs Evil.
EVIL was fast paced and packed with lies, deceit, mystery, jealously, and love! There was the right amount of suspense and mystery to keep the reader questioning what’s going to happen next. It seemed right when Shay would catch a “breather”, something else was thrown at her. “Something was coming, and it was going to hurt us, it’s time to fight.” –Shay.
Personal Note: I loved every minute of this book, but in the end, I felt let down a bit…the only reason I’m giving it a 4.5 stars is I wish the main heroine, Shay, would’ve “come into her own” more. Tijan kept expressing how she was just as powerful (if not more) than Kellan and her other siblings, but that was rarely expressed in her character. To me, she was more docile and pushed around. The reader could always feel the “ticking time bomb” in Shay’s characters powers and I wish it would have just EXPLODED earlier on and been expressed more throughout the book, so we could’ve seen her full potential and seen her character grow into her own more. “I had the same powers, more powers, but I rarely used them. I felt I couldn’t, like I hadn’t a reason for them, not yet.” –Shay. Other than that, the story and characters were well developed and kept the reader wanting more!
4.5 stars!
A compelling read!
I first read Evil when Tijan published it on her website, I immediately fell in love with it even though it had a cliffhanger ending. Gasp! But rest assured – this is a standalone book so no cliffhanger!
This book is still intoxicating from the first time I read it till now. Kellan! *swoon*
Packed with secrets, betrayal, loyalty, messengers, demons, nephilim and romance.
Prefect for readers of paranormal romance.

I must admit I did not imagine the character’s voice as how the narrator has portrayed them but I grew to like how the narrator has portrayed the voices. It was an enjoyable and fantastic performance.
