A new cozy mystery series from USA Today best-selling author Dale Mayer. Follow gardener and amateur sleuth Doreen Montgomery—and her amusing and mostly lovable cat, dog, and parrot—as they catch murderers and solve crimes in lovely Kelowna, British Columbia.Riches to rags. … Controlling to chaos. … But murder … well maybe … murders has hit the newswires across the country, but all Doreen wants is to be left alone. She has antiques to get to the auction house and a relationship with Corporal Mack Moreau to work out, not to mention a new friendship to nurture with Penny, Doreen’s first friend in Kelowna, and Doreen doesn’t want to ruin things.
But when a surprise accusation won’t leave Doreen alone—about Penny’s late husband George’s death and made by one of the men Doreen helped put away—she thinks that maybe it can’t hurt to just take a quick look into her new friend’s past.
Before Doreen knows it, she’s juggling a cold case, a closed case, and a possible mercy killing … along with cultivating her relationships with Penny, Mack, and Doreen’s pets: Mugs, the basset hound; Goliath, the Maine coon cat, and Thaddeus, the far-too-talkative African gray parrot. And while Mack should be used to Doreen’s antics by now, when she dives into yet another of his cases it’s becoming increasingly hard to take …

I just adore this book. The story is different in nature and is a great escape. I loved the antics of the pets. It makes for some great laughs. This story flows and before I knew it, it was over.
If you want to get away from it for a little while, this is a great bookcation! I highly recommend.
Doreen is back with her sweet pets, Nan and Corporal Mack, you can not go wrong! I love how Doreen keeps solving mysteries that others couldn’t or did not even know about. Doreen just wants to build her normal life with normal friends, but we know normal is for the mundane. Will Doreen be able to prove her friend is innocent or is that too much to ask for? This series is soo good! I can not wait for the next, It keeps my interest and has me laughing out loud. Great Read!!

Another adventure with Doreen and her pets. I love reading along as Doreen solves cold cases, finds treasures in her house and makes friends in her new home. Cannot wait to see what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
This is another book in the Lovely Lethal Gardens series. I missed reading the previous book, so there was some information based on the previous book that I didn’t follow. I don’t think that information was necessary to enjoy this book. I didn’t know why she was troubled that her new friend Penny may have killed her husband. That being said, it didn’t take away from the story. Doreen tried to put the thoughts out of her head, but if there’s a puzzle or cold case to solve she can’t stop until she knows what happened. Doreen continues to work as a gardener, the dog, cat and parrot continue to provide humor and Nan continues to stir up trouble. Between getting the antiques moved to the auction house and finding more antiques, Doreen is able to close multiple cold cases. The relationship between Mack and Doreen continues to grow, although Doreen won’t admit to it. I continue to enjoy the series and I am looking forward to the next 21 books in the series (assuming Dale continues the trend of writing a book for every letter of the alphabet).

This is a fun book to read. I really enjoyed the characters and the snarky conversation with the animals had me laughing out loud. The plot is well written with intrigue and mystery. It will keep your interest.. I received this book as a gift and I voluntarily give this review

This was a great book full of mysterie and laughter. I read this book in one sitting and couldn’t put It down.
Doreen is at it again in the new mystery. Love how the author moves us along in the life and mysteries in Doreen’s life! We learn more about many of the characters as well as solve another great mystery, with a twist! Can’t wait for the next installment!

This book follows where the previous book left off and is just as fun. Love the way the characters, Doreen and Mack interact with each other and how they both work on solving cold cases (crimes) in their town together. I absolutely love how three of the main characters are animals. You have Mugs, the Basset who Doreen brought with her when she moved into her Grandmother’s home. There is also a Maine Coon with the name of Goliath and an absolutely hilarious parrot by the name of Thaddeus. Both Goliath and Thaddeus were her Grandmother’s pets until her Grandmother moved into a retirement home. These animals are so much part of the book that I don’t think the story would be the same without them. This book had another mystery that Doreen ends up working on with the help of Mack. Loved the way the story continued from the previous book and ends with you impatiently wanting to read the next book in the series. Love these “hard to put down” books and can’t wait for the next one!

This delightfully entertaining mystery is one of the best in this endearing series with captivating characters and a well-written story that includes mystery, suspense, humorous moments, twists and turns that enhanced my reading pleasure. I love Doreen, her three delightful animals, her Nan and her dynamic with Corporal Mack Moreau. I can’t wait to see what Dale Mayer has for us in book six of the Lovely Lethal Garden series. If you are looking for a terrific read, don’t miss Evidence in the Echinacea. I received an advance reader copy of this book from Booksprout and this is my voluntary and honest review. I also purchased a copy for my keeper library.
This is a good mystery it keeps your interest and makes you want to keep reading just to see what Doreen and her 3 pets are going to do next, what is Nana up to and will Mack continue to be a calm influence on all.

Mack and Doreen’s story is moving a long slowly. I think she’s getting a clue maybe? Mack is there every step of the way, how to make coffee, how to make an omelet. how to work the stove. safely selling furniture. He’s invested. And in the meantime Doreen’s off solving another cold case with her menagerie of animals and Keeping Nan out of trouble. I am enjoying this series!
And the adventure of Doreen and her loyal quirky furry friends solving cold cases continue!!!
Another story that I can’t put it down from the beginning, I get a glimpse of this book in the previous book, so I was excited starting this one.
Love the mystery but not as much as I expected it would be, in this book is more about Doreen, not complaining though, because I love how she’s growing to become this wonderful character, she might be clueless but she has a big heart and her curiousness and smartness got me adore her more with each book in this series. Oh and I love those sweet moments between Doreen and Mack, gah I wished they just get together already, they’re so sweet together. So yeah overall I love this book…a lot.
If you love cozy mystery read, I think you’ll love this one too.

Just when you finish a cold case and you think you can relax, something is said that makes you wonder. Could she have? This one has so many twists and turns, that you are surprised when the unexpected happens. Doreen is getting quite a reputation in the community. The seniors are taking bets on the outcome and all bets are on, well I guess you will have to read it to find out. This was great and I am waiting to see what transpires next.
Thanks, Ms. Mayer for another book that you simply do not want to put down.

Evidence in the Echinacea by Dale Mayer
Lovely Lethal Gardens Series Book Five
Doreen isn’t even looking for evidence or murderers or anything. She’s just trying to get settled into her new home. A home her grandmother has left her and has left it full of expensive antiques for Doreen to sell so she has money to live.
Thank goodness for Mack, the handsome detective, who’s been helping her out. That man can make a meal to die for. Something that Doreen had never learned to do in her pampered life…cook.
Another great addition to this series. Between Doreen’s nudges to “dig” deeper into things, her Nan sitting at the retirement home betting on things; such as Doreen’s non-existent love life, and her small menagerie of critters…it makes these stories real page-turners. Not a dull moment in them.

I think this is my favorite so far in the series as I was so torn about whether Penny did it or not and then I bounced around not knowing what to believe or direction things would go next with the motives which was fantastic as no one wants to know who did it straight away!! Doreen is settling in even more in her new life and finding what makes her happy and the fact she lives in a treasure trove of a house is a hoot, but it is her relationship with Mack thats the best as you can see they are both want more but Mack knows Doreen has to work out herself first. I can not wait to read the next book!!!!

This book was hilarious. Poor Doreen and her fear of losing her antiques to burglars.
The animals make me laugh out loud with their personalities, and Doreen is so lovable.
No spoilers from me.. you need to get the book to see how much fun this series of books are.
I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
Oh, the pickles that Doreen gets herself into. She starts out trying to help Penny get her yard ready for sale and by the end of the book ends up solving multiple cases. And in the meantime, she is continuing to uncover more antiques to sell. Looking forward to see what case Doreen gets involved in next.
This series is so much fun to get caught up in. The characters, human and animal, make these books. This one has some surprises that were completely unexpected. I love the hi-jinks as much as the mystery. There is a lot to the story and it makes me want the next book now.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
This is the Fifth book in the Lovely Lethal Gardens series, Doreen has a feeling just hours after solving her last cold case, but can her new friend be involved?? Between the hyper pets trailing after her and Nan, who is always in the thick of things, a houseful of antiques needing to be sold and a blossoming relationship with Mack, Doreen’s days are incredibly busy.
Well-written story with a gripping storyline, love the characters and that includes all the animals. Great series!!
I always look forward to the next book in this series. I know I’m going to get hooked right in and I LOVE the animals and their antics. I am a huge fan of Dale Mayer and this cozy mystery is awesome. Looking forward to Footprints in the Ferns, the next book. I am anxiously awaiting Doreen and Mack and when their relationship hits the next level. So hoping in the next book. If not, doesn’t matter. I’m hooked either way.
