Felix never believed in soulmates . . . until he met her.Felix Mays has only two goals in life—to play his cello and to stay off heroin. He’s only a few weeks out of rehab and accomplishing both—barely. Then Felix meets gorgeous Jenna Rollins, single mom and half of the rising pop-star duo Alec and Jenna, who’ve practically been voted LA’s cutest couple. Jenna offers Felix a job with the band, … offers Felix a job with the band, and it’s an opportunity he can’t refuse, even though his feelings for Jenna are quickly turning romantic.
Then Felix learns the truth—Alec and Jenna have been broken up for over a year, and maintain their couple-image just for the fans. Jenna is falling for Felix as fast he is for her, but she and Alec have agreed not to date anyone until the band has peaked—and that’s clearly years away.
Felix and Jenna are determined to make it work, despite the strain on their careers, their relationships with the band, and even Felix’s struggling sobriety. A situation this stressful is the last thing Felix needs—and the one thing he can’t bring himself to walk away from.
Everything We Are is a standalone romance novel with no cliffhanger, no cheating, and a swoon-worthy happily ever after. It can be read separately from the first books in the series, though characters from those books do appear in supporting roles. It contains R-rated sexual content, swearing, and references to partying and drug use.
“Delightful, spunky, and deliciously well-written” –Bestselling Author Jen Greyson

Liked Felix. A work in progress. The rest I could have lived without. Jenna is awful. Read at your own risk.
I’m enjoying this series so much! Can’t wait to read the next instalment!
Romantic but with a heavier subject matter
Everything We Are is another interesting story in The Extra series by Janci Patterson and Megan Walker. This is the story of Felix but his story is not as funny as the previous books in the series have been. The authors are tackling the sensitive issue of addiction with this story and they do it well, if a bit long winded. There is still some romance and fun though but just not as much frivolity as with the previous books in the series.
I did enjoy this story but just not as much due to some of the subject matter. But the author’s have done a wonderful job of writing the story and advancing the story of Jenna.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Felix has finally chosen to get clean, and because it was his decision this time, he wants to work as hard as he can to stay sober so he can start his life right. When busking one day, he catches the eye of Jenna, a feisty and famous singer part of a famous musical duo, who thinks he has what it takes to play cello for the band. Felix can’t help but be drawn to her, but she’s off-limits because she’s romantically involved with Alec. But what if it’s all for show and she really is as interested in him as he is her? Having to hide a relationship would be hard, made even harder by the fact Felix probably shouldn’t even be in a relationship in his first year of recovery.
I’ve been reading this series from the beginning and I have to say that Felix is probably my most favorite character now and I’m so glad that he was given his own book. He wears his heart on his sleeve, he’s not afraid to speak what’s on his mind, and he’s a fighter. In Everything We Are he is given a chance to redeem himself and to make his life better. Felix is unconventional in his treatment because he’s defying the formula that has been known to work in recovery, and I think that each person is different, and we see that with Felix.
It’s a bit of an insta-love situation between the two of them, but it works because they fall fast and they fall hard. But because they have to do it without the public knowing, it makes it really hard for them. The chemistry between the two of them is intense, and I adore them together. Their shared backgrounds make it easier for them to be able to support one another, and I think that’s key to helping Felix stay on this road he’s started. This was such a fun read, with a great combination of angst, humor, and romance.
I enjoyed Felix’s story. I thought the authors did a very good job dealing with the sensitive issues of addiction. I enjoyed how the characters stayed true to themselves.

We met Felix initially in Gabbys tale where he ended up in rehab. This story continues his journey not long after he’s out. Couch surfing & busking is how he is surviving & where Ty, Jenna’s son finds him. Her band needs a cellist & after auditioning & being accepted into the group, he finds out about Alec & Jenna. However he & Jenna have that spark & chemistry that doesn’t go away.
This is tale is full of angst which has an injection of humour thrown in to lighten it up. Jenna is fighting her past & Felix has the issues with his former drug use. Alec makes it his business to interfere & cause drama for this fledgling romance. Ty is such a cutie esp with his antics, one being the cello case.
If you’re of fan of this series you’ll enjoy Felix’s story but beware it continues in the next book.
