Loved the story and consider this a very finely crafted novel!
Some of the most beautiful writing I’ve ever read. Counting the days till the next book release from this author.
Sad book with great insights on family dynamics
This book was slightly disappointing. It was depressing. While it was welk-written, I cannot say that it was in any way enjoyable.
I truly enjoyed this book. As an immigrant myself I know who difficult it can be to be different and to assimilate into society. I love the theme, the characters and their strangles.
choppy
Even though you know the ending from the start, this book kept me reading. Interesting characters, highly driven but so often unknown or misunderstood by those they love. A reminder of how difficult it was for “mixed” race couples just a few decades ago, and the importance of truth in relationships.
Excellent story of a family and it’s dynamics…enjoyed this book very much. Nothing is more harmful to a child than being a favorite.
It was hard for me to imagine. I don’t live in a world where everyone would stop to look at one person who entered the room. I had to work at what that would feel like and what kind of ignorant mean people would make someone feel bad because they were different; but the story still got me.
Very good book! Thought provoking which I love. Couldn’t wait to figure out what happened.
Intriguing!
fabulous story, realistic characters, enlightening
Loved this family story, great writing, couldn’t put it down. Very tragic to think these things really happen.
Beautifully written believable story of a family tragedy.
Very good story about a family trying to fit into society. Highly recommend.
Very sad story of a missing teen girl and her family’s separate responses to her absence. We all deal with grief in a different way and these characters are no different. The book is very true to the title as you will see as you read.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was well written and easy to read. Perfect for summer.
Loved the viewpoint – started with the result and then the book went back to the beginning of the situation and developed the story until you understood the conclusion. Haunting.
Exquisite writing; story about a death in the family hit home for me and helped me re-think my adolescence.
It showed how people didn’t communicate, which in turn affected a whole family.
