Everything I Do (Outlaws, #1), my second enjoyable read from author M.C. Frank. Well-written with memorable characters. I was given a Kindle copy of Sleep Robin Hood (Outlaws #3) and upon discovering it was the third book in a series I went out & got the first two to read first, now I’m voluntarily reading & reviewing the first book because every great book needs reviews. I look forward to reading more from this author and I definitely need to read more in this series, Next up is Every Wrong Right (Outlaws #2). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Everything I Do was a book I did not want to put down. Written in the world of Robin Hood with Maid Marian playing a new and intriguing part, I wanted to find out how everything ended. Starting with an archer whose skills exceed the infamous Robin Hood and a new addition to the band of merry men, this story runs the gamut from heartache, heroism, fear, and satisfaction. Seeing as this is book one of the outlaw series it left me wanting more.
The characters are real with heartbreaking issues- depression, anxiety, hopelessness while still trying to move forward to help the people who are struggling around them. Each individual has the horrors of war written upon their pasts in unique ways. While M.C. Frank has written these characters and the story in a realistic way, it is still a beautiful story that I enjoyed reading.
A dark re-telling of Robin Hood. This is a slightly different but dark version of the story of Robin Hood. We get to know the bad things that have happened in the pasts of his men and the pain and sadness they have endured. Robin, his best friend Will, and the others have been imprisoned and tortured almost to death. But while in prison, another person who was imprisoned but in a tower, Marian, would pick the lock and sneak to the dungeon and give the prisoners food and water. The prisoners were children like she was. She helped them escape but she was caught, and then tortured and changed into an assassin. They all believe she died and they have mourned her for four years. But Marian is no longer their friend. She has been trained to get revenge. Revenge for them not coming for her and saving her, and now her task is to kill the boy she used to love. Robin Hood. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review..
I’ve always enjoyed the story of Robin Hood, and have really enjoyed retellings of many of my favorite classics in the last few years, so I was excited to see M. C. Frank’s latest story would focus on none other than Robin Hood! I’m happy to have had the chance to read a complementary copy of EID, and it’s so good! I expected this to be heavy on the romance, since that’s what this version focuses on, and I loved Robin and Rosa’s chemistry! There were a few places that felt repetitive, and I would have enjoyed some more focus on expanding the characters’ personalities and adding some character growth, but as a retelling/romance I really enjoyed reading this, and it’s just my preference for complex characters talking, haha. I did find I was mesmerized by this story, and quickly read it in one day!
With emotional struggles, danger, disguise, assassins, and loads of other surprises throughout this beautiful story, it’s hard to put this one down! My favorite part was probably the author’s ability to add emotion, and the level of sensory detail such as the beautiful sensory that makes it easy to picture each page. While I would love to see more of Robin Hood’s friends in more detail, I loved Robin’s character, and really enjoyed Rosa as well!
This was a great engrossing telling of Robin Hood unlike any you will ever read. The author writes in vivid detail so that you are pulled into the story and can’t put it down. The characters are so well written you feel like you are part of the story.
