“I devour every single delicious word Alexa Riley writes.” –#1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Maya Banks New York Times bestselling author Alexa Riley’s first full-length novel shows just what happens when a strong, possessive man finds the woman of his dreams I’ll never forget the way she looked, so confident and sure of herself. I watched her from a distance. She wasn’t … her from a distance. She wasn’t ready for me yet. I didn’t approach her and I didn’t disturb her, but I never once took my eyes off her.
Mallory Sullivan is ready to start her new life. After graduating at the top of her class, she’s landed one of the most coveted internships in the United States. Hard work and determination have gotten her to this moment of living the life she only dreamed of growing up in foster care.
From the start, I knew that she would be my greatest achievement, so the day I let her go, I set down a path for her. A path to me.
She never expected Oz to be the greatest culmination of those dreams. But sometimes fate determines who you fall in love with. Who makes you lose control. Who owns your soul.
And then you realize it wasn’t fate at all…
I’ve wanted to care for and protect her since the first moment I saw her. I’ve constructed everything in our lives so that at the perfect moment, I could have her, could give her the life she deserves.
The time has come.

This was good and easy to read. However, although I love a good Alpha with a soft side, this one came off a bit too creepy. At least it ended well.
I really wanted to like this book. I finally got my hands on it and just thought it was okay. I couldn’t completely get into it, I didn’t even find the main characters likeable.
Miles was an over the top stalker and most of the time downright crazy! I get that he did help her through life but seriously, all this for a girl he never spoke a word to?! He controlled everything about her life for the next 4 years. As much as he says he just wants to make her happy, he never respected her wishes.
Don’t even get me started on Mallory. She was so gullible and naive. For somebody who was so smart she could not put the pieces together. She ignored every single red flag about Miles. Once she found out about Miles she basically thought it was sweet. Girl please! She should’ve gotten a restraining order.
If you like over the top romance and really obsessive men, this is book is for you.
I saw that she was coming out with a book for Paige and Captain (Ryan), now that’s a book that I wouldn’t mind readin
As always crazy insta-love, obsessive Hero, sweet heroine, and over the top love story. Loved it!
Great read. Well developed characters.
Mallory and Oz were good characters. I really enjoyed the unfolding of their relationship. The sex scenes were not too repetitive as is common with this genre. The epilogues were unnecessary after the first one.
I loved this book. It was nice to see a man not as confident when he is with a woman but be afraid to loose her.
When Miles Osbourne sees Mallory Sullivan he knows she is it for him, but he is still young and she is only seventeen. Five years later it’s time and he has a plan in place to bring Mallory closer and give her what he imagines will be her happily ever after.
This was great, it was nice to see a full length book from this author and well worth picking up. I liked Mallory and thought Miles “Oz” was intriguing. Great book.
some writers really can write insta love so well. i wish more of alexa riley’s books were in physical form. i just love love love their books.
we got our alpha male who really couldn’t stand seeing mal even talking to another guy. if they were real i’d be worried for her but in fiction i found it kinda hot.
Who wouldn’t want a man that is so devoted a woman?!!?? I do. I have loved this story since the moment I read the preview.
The story only got better. You understand why Oz is the way he is.
I love this one and all the subsequent books.
I’m kind of torn on this book… I loved it, but I feel like I shouldn’t have loved it…if that makes any sense. What should have been scary because of the obsessive and controlling behavior of the male MC, was actually a little endearing and came off as romantic.
Oz observes Mallory when she’s younger and he decides to wait until she’s older to pursue her, but that doesn’t stop him from keeping an eye on her until he feels the time is right. I appreciate the fact that he didn’t want to chase after someone still in high school while he was in college. But the obsession was a bit much at times. Some of the jealous and controlling behavior did rub me the wrong way, but like Mallory, his sweet talk would do me in.
I particularly enjoyed how there were several epilogues showing us where the characters ended up, though I have to admit confusion since this says book 1 of a series. Perhaps we’ll get to see Paige’s story too? I would love to see what happens with her and Captain!
Let me start with informing you of my love of Alexa Riley (AR). I devour her (technically their, as Alexa Riley is two people!) novellas. Are they over the top ridiculous? Yes, but that’s what makes them so magical. Her typical Hero is possessive, alpha, instantly falls in love, etc. And I love it. And then we meet Oz/Miles, the Hero from her first full length novel. Oz is a typical AR Hero.
Well, a typical AR Hero except you gave him brain tumor that affects his frontal lobe then let him have a billion dollars.
Miles is legitimately crazy. Stalker kind of crazy.
I like book stalkers…you should ask Queen J what happened when I read You by Caroline Kepnes. But Miles was too much for me. He went too far in his possessiveness; one of his actions broke the friendship code and ruined my opinion of him. Additionally, I could never figure out why Mallory was so great.
Overall, nice effort for their first full length novel, but hope the next book is a little better.
I’m going to start this out with saying that I was in the minority when it came to asking for a longer Alexa Riley book. I love the shorter stories because they have always been a quick escape for me. So I was a little skeptical about a full novel. Don’t get me wrong, I was super excited when it was announced and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I just didn’t know how it would end up. I’m so happy that they put my skepticism out of my head and delivered such a well balanced and well written full length novel.
This is a story about Mallory Sullivan, a girl who was raised in foster care and has worked hard all her life in order to make great strides towards achievement. She just graduated from Yale and has been offered a prestigious internship. With her plans set in motion, Mallory is taken by surprise when she meets a handsome stranger at a local club who refuses to let her get away. She is immediately attracted to him can’t seem to get him out of her head.
Miles “Oz” Osbourne has really only focused on one thing since he was eighteen. Revenge. Everything he has done is calculated and focused with one end game. That is until he sees a young girl while he is in college that he instantly becomes obsessed with. He now has a new purpose and everything he does is with the end goal of getting that girl into his arms forever.
I’m not going to rehash too much here. This book as all the AR checkmarks that we look for. Over the top alpha, insta-love, a bit of crazy, and some sexy scenes. One of the things that I like about this one is that it allows more room for a bit more angst. I’m an even bigger sucker when it comes to a AR book with some angst in it. While there is only a tad bit here and true angst whores probably won’t even acknowledge it, it’s there and enough for me in this particular situation.
I found it very weird and creepy how much I enjoyed Oz’s obsessive behavior. It didn’t try to hide it and he owned it. While I would never want that for myself, I thought it worked with their relationship and made a big part of who they are together. Mallory was the perfect balance for Oz. She was able to handle his behavior for the most part but she also kept him under control. She wasn’t afraid to speak up for herself or tell him when he was a bit out of control. The two of them just meshed and balanced each other out.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and I’m so happy that Alexa Riley delivered us their first full novel and gives us those sexy over the top alphas that we secretly crave. Great job, ladies!
This book was a 50 Shades “wannabe”. Silly but I admit I read the whole thing. Easy entertainment for a time when I needed an easy read.
Glad to find a book that gets your attention in the first few pages!
