Miss Caroline Crispin is on top of the world. But she’s about to take a painful fall.As the daughter of London’s most in-demand architect, Caro has laughed and danced and pursued her interests with gusto—free from Society’s censure. So when she overhears two lords calling her vulgar names and wagering on whose lover she’ll become, she’s shocked and stung—and determined to teach them a lesson. … determined to teach them a lesson. Though it pains her to ask for help from another brutish lord…
Lord Ryland isn’t the man his father wanted him to be. But he’s about to make an excellent catch.
Adam, Earl Ryland, just wants to get married and tend his country garden, away from the bucks, fops, and gossips who pester him to box like his late father. When this gentle giant meets his sister’s friend Caro—who parries his flirtations with double entendre that would make a barman blush—he’s smitten. But there’s a problem: she’s looking to him for a different sort of partnership. And it’s a risky one.

Sure, you’ve read a hundred Regency romances, but you haven’t read one like this. This heroine has wit, fire and an independent will — the plot of the book revolves around her attempt to get revenge on some ne’er-do-wells who set out to ruin her reputation — and the hero is more at home flexing his muscles in the garden than the boxing ring. These nuanced and rounded characters are charming and perfectly suited to each other, and I tell you, it was such a relief not to have a hero’s arrogance be the quality that sets him apart from other men. Also, I am DYING to learn where the series takes some of the secondary characters, including a roguish best friend and a reserved lady scientist. Loved, loved, loved this book.
A cute romance. The heroine is spunky and outspoken, and the hero an enlightened male. The most interesting character is the heroine’s mother, an architect who functions under her husband’s name and is glad to be doing so rather than working as a domestic.
I received a copy of this book by author Willa Ramsey, and I am honored. Thank you!
Although I found book #1 in her series to be slow-starting, it picked up. I will be honest and say that I wanted sparks to fly sooner! Who doesn’t? Caro and Lord Ryland are a delightful couple, and their relationship begins with friendship and soon blossoms into more. Caro is smart, witty and way before her time. Lord Ryland is warm, kind, patient, and soon feels that this woman is unlike any other he’s known. Of course he’s intrigued! Caro loves to scheme and keeps him on his toes. The reader knows these two will eventually get together and what the outcome will be. Everyone loves a happy ending, right?
I look forward to book #2, and I will add that I love a juicy and romantic novel involving a hero and heroine. I think these two characters can enjoy a very spicy relationship, and I’m hoping that Ramsey adds a lot of flavor to it in the series.
So this was absolutely amazing! I loved everything about it! Caro and Edie were the best of friends and honestly reminded me a bit of my besties relationship with me. We were always there for each other but completely willing to tease one another when it was prudent to do so. I loved the book touching on that. The relationships between not just the hero and heroine but the people in their lives.
Caro and her mom, I loved their little heart to heart towards the end. Adam and his sister Edie were sweet. I loved the feisty personalities in their family and their interactions. I loved the healing of resentment between Adam and his mother also.
But of course what everyone wants to know is the relationship between Caro and Adam as they are the main characters. Their relationship is humorous, odd, and just plain amazing. It is silly and fun and touches on them as individuals and how that will blend to make a couple. I haven’t loved a couple so much in so long. I loved that Adam was not the typical alpha male. He was a bit more introverted, awkward, shy. Caro is outgoing, spunky, and rushes in without thinking. They balance one another out. He makes her think things through and she brings him out of his shell and into the world. Showing him it can be fun.
They were an amazing couple. This was the best impulse buy ever and I cannot wait to read the next in the series.
Witty and engaging, this debut left me eager for more from Willa Ramsey. I loved the unconventional heroine and the romantic hero with a heart of gold. I was cheering for them all the way to their HEA!
Witty, heartwarming, smart, and of course sparkling chemistry….EVERYTHING BUT THE EARL was an absolute treat! Willa Ramsey brings a fresh voice to my favorite genre, and I’m so excited to have a new Regency romance author to add to my auto-buy list of Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, and Tessa Dare.
Regency rom-com that has Austen-like wit and charm. Recommended for a delightful summer read!
A Regency romance for the #MeToo era! I loved the unabashedly flirtatious heroine and the conscientious hero. There are some wonderful moments of humor, but also a fee that had me nodding along in utter sympathy. Overall, a delightful romp, witty and engaging.
Historical romance was my first introduction to romance and remains, to this day, one of my default preferences. Everything but the Earl reminds me a great deal of why I enjoy the genre so much. Charming, funny, romantic, and with a couple that’s utterly enchanting.
