She’s fighting to keep her head above water…He’s drowning in guilt. As a kid my life was perfect. I had everything I could ever want. Amazing parents, a loving little sister. Then it all changed. In the blink of an eye, my heart died. My soul fractured, my happiness vanished. For years I felt nothing but pain. Then Carissa walked into my life. In an instant, she turned my world upside down. … walked into my life.
In an instant, she turned my world upside down.
With one look she quieted my demons.
Silenced my pain.
Before I learned her name, she became my salvation.
Determined to get things right, I’ve kept my distance.
But I’m done with the space between us.
It’s time for me to claim my woman.
Once and for all.

I talk a lot so words should come easy, but there really isn’t enough ways or words to express what this book meant to me and I hope it means to all of you.
In life bad things happen, in books those stories can be told. When they are told with the ability to draw you so far into that world, you know you have a book that was so truly meant to be written. That’s what this book is. The writing, the emotion, the raw vulnerability that each piece of this story brings into your heart and soul.
Kyle and Carissa, they were meant to be. They were meant to heal one another of their guilt, of their pasts, of their sorrow. The journey is one you will never forget. Tears will be shed, laughter will be had and your heart will beat in overtime.
This book their really isn’t any words, or words that can truly do it justice. J.E. Parker, you my friend , were meant to write, you were meant to tell a story and you were meant to show your greatness as you have done time and time again, but with this one, just wow!
J.E Parker is a “new to me” author. I set myself a little challenge this year to read more “new” or “new to me” authors, so this one sounded like a good contender in that regard. Often trying a new author can end up being a crapshoot, but luck was on my side. This book was SO good. I have read none of the other books in this series (I plan to) and I wasn’t completely lost. However, it got a wee bit confusing at times because there were a plethora of secondary characters to keep track of. Since so many of them are couples, family, and friends from the previous books in this series, I would recommend for the best reading experience they should be read in order. But as I said, you can happily read this one as a standalone without too much confusion.
One highlight of this book was the writing itself. It was an excellently written book. It was a relatively long book, but the pace was perfect. The plot was engaging. Heartbreaking. Hilarious (good lord Grandmama is a HOOT). The second half of the book also has a little thread of mystery woven through it. This was super low angst and insta love type of read. There wasn’t any OW or OM drama. Kyle broke my heart, but he was SO sweet. Sexy. Alpha. I loved him. He was also celibate the entire three years he was waiting for the heroine to graduate (so bonus). Carissa was also sweet. Funny. Feisty. Had a huge heart. Alas, she was also a virgin (groan), but it at least made sense in this case since she was 20 when her and Kyle first meet, and her father is crazy overprotective. Still…virgins…so sick of them! (lol) The sex scenes were hot. It had a fantastic cast of secondary characters. I adored the comradery and the love this vast group of people had for each other. Last, it was all wrapped up in a super sweet ending.
So yea, not much left to say…I loved it.
EMOTIONAL & UNFORGETTABLE!
I might just have to say this was my favorite story out of the entire series! I’ve really enjoyed this series so far and there have been some amazing stories told. Each one has it’s own heartbreaking pieces that’ll grab onto your heart and take you on one heck of an emotional ride…but this one! I do think this one broke me! My heart hurt for Kyle every step of the way but there were moments that I think I actually held my breath while I read…anxious for those next words that were either going to make their lives better or worse.
The way that Kyle & Carissa heal each other was very touching. To find that person that can heal all the broken pieces is a gift but to find the person that together you can heal EACH OTHERS broken pieces is a treasure and makes for a beautiful story!
I adore this crew! The way they all fit together; the life lessons they help each other maneuver around, the tragedies they heal from and all the memories they make together along the way! Grandmama might be a side character in this series, but man she’s one heck of a bonus in this world!! And most definitely unforgettable!
Kyle and Carissa’s story may be one of the hardest to get through in this series. Not because it’s a bad one at all, but because of how much pain both of them carry in their hearts. Kyle survived the loss of his favorite person as a child and blames himself for it, while Carissa blames herself for the death of her mother. When Kyle meets Carissa, he knows she’s not ready for him, but he also knows that she can make his heart feel whole again, so he waits THREE YEARS for her to be ready to become his. And once that time comes, Kyle is all in and doesn’t allow room for second thoughts or regrets. He and Carissa manage to heal each other through love and understanding, and even danger can’t stop their love. They manage to defeat all enemies, be those in the form of other people or the demons inside themselves, and earn a fabulous HEA in the end.
We also get to catch up with everyone else from this series, as well as get a glimpse into who might be next. I can’t wait to see the ride that Heidi and Ty likely have, but that’s a story for another day.
4*
Kyle has never got over the loss of his sister lily (tea cup) he still blames himself. However a request from Hendrix to watch over Carissa & Heidi whilst their father a long distance driver is on the road makes him feel things.
Carissa is smitten by the brooding fire fighter Kyle but education has to come first. Another great addition to the series love all the characters laughed, cried throughout the book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
She’s gone and done it again!!! Absolutely fabulous. Kyle And Carissa’s story got to me on so many levels, mainly because of Carissa’s back story, having lost someone very close to me as she has. Kyle had to work for my love in this book because he comes across as over bearing and controlling at first, but you as you get to know him better all becomes clear and he starts to grow on you. Grandmama, as always is just awesome and had me crying with laughter.
This book is a bit of a rollercoaster for you heart and deals with some subjects which I found painful to read. But Grandmama’s antics were a real mood lifter when I found myself sobbing and heartbroken. I loved every second of it. If you have’t read the rest of J.E’s books this one can be read as a standalone, but I’d recommend you do as missing out on a whole heap of awesomeness!!! 5 Super Stars!!
This was a good addition to the series. It was my favorite in the series but all and all a good read.
Clarissa and Kyle’s stories will have you so emotionally invested you don’t even realize that you are crying until you draw a breath. Such heartache both have suffered from such a early age. Both have scars and demons that have followed then into adulthood.
The day Kyle meets Clarissa he knows deep into his shattered soul that she is the one. The calmness she brings into his life sometimes is the only thing saving Kyle from total destruction. Clarissa who is studying to become a social worker who also works at the womens shelter is captivated when she first sees Kyle, however she is determined that nothing will come before being able to provide for her little sister Heidi and getting her degree. Kyle watches over Clarissa and making his intentions known that he will sit back and wait for however long it takes for Clarissa to say she is ready.
Three years later and their worlds explode with lust, passion, fear, and a fearce love and devotion that leaves you always wanting more. Such well written beautifully flowing stories that leave you desperate for more.
“I don’t plan to sew your heart back together, but I have every intention of stitching your broken pieces to my tattered ones. That way we can both be whole again.” – Carissa
I loved Every Time We Touch. It’s a sad but beautiful, heartwarming story. Both Kyle and Carissa are broken-hearted and struggling to cope with tragedies that happen in their youth. With a whole lot of love and some patience the two begin to heal.
I would absolutely recommend reading their story.
3.5 Cranky Stars
At first I thought this was going to be a very good book. Starting with Kyle as a 12 year old boy taking his little sister Lily to the park with his friend Ty. While the boys were distracted Lily was abducted and found murdered. Then they found the abductor an he had killed himself. His father blamed Kyle and walked out and his mother retracted into her own grief. Nearly 2 decades had passed and the grief had made Kyle into a very angry young man. He worked for the fire department along with his friends. Then the author bombards you with loads of new characters, which I couldn’t tell who was related to who. Kyle met Carissa at a party and whispered he would make her his no matter how long it takes. Carissa and her deaf younger sister Heidi live with their trucker father after their mother had died of Cancer. She also had self loathing as she felt it was her that caused her mother to die. Another three years go by and Carissa graduated and seemed to just jump into bed with Kyle! The many characters in this 3 years had partnered up and had children or were pregnant, I couldn’t keep track. The men in this book come over as being very arrogant and the women weak. There were funny moments from the few weird characters, but on the whole they all seem to have hang-ups about their past. The saving grace of this book is the end, not only was their forgiveness, but an unexpected event happened that had you turning the next page with eager anticipation.
The way we got back in time to where there is a cross over in time from the last book to this one is smoothly done and I loved remembering what happened previously. Kyle is one hell of a tortured soul for something well beyond his control when he was younger and it is gut wrenching the torment he puts himself through. Carissa is strong and determined but while shows his pain on the outside hers is hidden well inside and she tries to never acknowledge. Grab your tissues and not just a little pack this book is full of so much emotion as we go through the journey of love, redemption, forgiveness, worry of something happening to them as well as the hope they both see how worthy of love they are.
I have read each book in the redeeming love series and by far this one has taken my heart. I fell hard and fast for Kyle and Carissa. I loved everything about their story, including the tears and heartache. And of course there is always Grandmama and her antics!
Joining beautiful pieces of broken hearts never looked so good
When it’s a J.E. Parker book, you can never, ever go wrong. She has a way of writing about topics that you would otherwise not want to see in a romance novel and yet integrate it in the story so well that without it, the story would be incomplete.
Kyle has fallen head over heels in love at first sight with Carissa and like the other boys in the series, became protective of her and her little sister Heidi. Kyle has lived through a harrowing ordeal that left him wanting to protect everyone he loves to a fault.
Carissa on the one hand has been feeling guilty of letting someone go for what she feels like a very selfish reason. She (and Kyle) made a promise to her father that she would finish her degree before getting into a serious relationship and when that time came, nothing and no one can stand in both her and Kyle’s way. Their coming together is beautiful and passionate, each carrying broken pieces of their hearts that when fused together created a beautiful piece.
The characters from the previous stories mesh so well together in this hopefully not last book in the series that even if you started in this story you will not get lost. Of course Grandmama and her flyswatter takes centerstage but who cares, she is an integral part of the story and we love her dearly.
I have loved Hendrix from the first book but I think Kyle may have taken over and you have to read it and you’ll understand why. Now excuse me while I buy some more tissues…
This book was beautiful! It was heart felt! I was crying, and then crying some more! I couldn’t put it down
WOW! I don’t even know how to put words together to describe how amazing this book is! I have been waiting for Carissa and Tyler’s book for what seems like ages but so worth the wait! I can’t wait for Heidi and Ty’ s book!!
Kyle broken , guilty, and has a rage that goes so far he can’t see straight sometimes. One day he meets Carissa and falls head first.
Carissa also broken with guilt cause of what she things she caused. When she meets Kyle her world flips. But for them to be together they both want to wait for her to finish college and when that happens things for them move fast but where they are headed will it take them where they want it will someone gave different ideas.
This book right from the beginning will have you in tears and break your heart. Every emotion, feel, and laughter will have you turning page after page to see what happens next. It also brings back all of our be beloved charters from the other books. I can’t wait to read the next. Truly an amazing series.
I barely made it through the prologue with losing it. I could already tell this story was gonna grip my heart and make me a blubbering mess by the end. J.E. Parker has this amazing ability to really pull you in as a reader and make you feel like your a part of these characters lives. I feel like I’m a part of the world, a part of their family and reading about Kyle and Carissa just made me a wreck in all the right ways. Kyle just broke my heart from the beginning with everything the man held inside and has gone through. Carissa was such a strong female character I was amazed on how she kept fighting and was so determined in life. I love this series and every book just keeps getting better and better. I cant wait to see what comes next.
I loved this book! So full of emotion and pain, but also beauty and redemption! I loved Carissa for Kyle, she was an amazing woman who gave Kyle what he needed. He was in a dark place, and it was her love for him that finally pulled him back into the light. And I loved Ty and Heidi, they were wonderful friends to these two. This was such an awesome read! All the feels, the chemistry, and the heat packed into one!
First book by J. E. Parker and shoo wee it was an emotional read. If you’re a mama especially of a boy this book will put you right in the story and gut you but thankfully there is a HEA! This book really does have all the feels. I can’t tell you how many times by heart broke for Kyle, his mom, and Carissa. I just wanted to reach through the book and hug and cry with them. This is definitely not a light hearted, fun, fast read. So, if you want a book that will bring you in deeply with the characters and possibly need some tissues, then grab this book!! Oh, and the side characters- hilarious. Loved them! Hoping that Heidi Bug and Ty get their own story. And Dottie, don’t forget her (maybe with Daryl) hmmmm.
Have tissues handy for this emotionally pack book. This is book 5 in one of my favorite series ever. This author will make you cry as well as laugh out loud. All the characters in this series have had some trauma or tragedy to get over or deal with but Kyle and Carissa by far are my favorite. From chapter 1 to the very end this book sucked me in. I even dreamed about these characters, that’s how real they are. I will not reveal any details of this book because you need to experience them as you go but it’s beyond 5 stars. This book is amazing. I received an early copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. I loved it so much I also bought a copy. I highly recommend it.
