New York Times bestselling author Lexi Ryan brings you Every Sweet Regret, a sexy standalone romance about a single dad and the reformed party girl who’s loved him all her life. For as long as I can remember, Kace Matthews has been my brother’s best friend and my not-so-secret crush. But I knew nothing would ever happen between us. The successful single dad doesn’t fall for the hot mess party … fall for the hot mess party girl. Kace + Stella exists in the doodles in my high school notebooks and in my dreams. Never in real life.
Until he finds me on a hookup app and starts flirting shamelessly.
It turns out high school Stella was not prepared for Kace Matthews. Adult Stella isn’t much better, but I manage to break down the walls to show Kace the real me—not just the life-of-the-party exterior, but the vulnerable pieces I hide from the world. Combine that with the combustible chemistry we have in real life, and I’m a goner.
Too bad it takes me so long to realize Kace doesn’t know I’m the girl he’s been falling for online. Telling him the truth now that he knows my secrets could mean losing everything, and that’s one regret that could break me.

This is the second book in this series and as much as I loved the first one this is my favourite. Lexi Ryan brought us red hot chemistry, angst, a great story line that flowed well making this a page turner.
Stella has had a crush on her brothers Best Friend Kace for years. Their lives are completely different, Kace is newly divorced, a dad and Stella is a party girl. She has never hidden her feelings for Kace but has always been rejected until now and he is starting to notice her more and they embark on a friends with benefits relationship. Of course that is never going to go well when he meets a girl on a dating app at the same time so is keeping Stella at arms length. Little does he know its Stella its talking to. Of course this is never going to go well.
Kace has so many walls up, its hard to get to know him properly, I wanted to shake him a few times. I loved Stella, i just wish she didn’t look at Kace through the love fog, I honestly wanted to hug her so many times.
How do I tell you that your romantic heart is going to pitter patter over the chance at unrequited love being more…
How do I show you that heartbreak doesn’t have to be permanent…
I can tell you the tears that fell while reading Every Sweet Regret have dried up and are replaced by a knowing grin. I can tell you the hearts in my eyes are bigger than my face. I can also tell you that Stella deserves more than she could ever have imagined. Kace deserves his wildest fantasies. Together they achieve both.
No regrets about picking Orchid Valley as a new place to call home. No regrets about this book either, except the physical need to rectify a secret with extreme violence. But you will probably feel the same too.
Stella Jacob and Kace Matthews absolutely ignite the pages of Every Sweet Regret with their fierce attraction to one another. This story is full of reasons why these two should not be together. It is also proof positive that Love wants what it wants and will not be denied.
The attraction between Stella and Case is undeniable and intense. The dynamics of their relationship are completely driven by a forbidden flirtation that makes for some steamy moments and a ton of tension. There are secrets that also add substance to their story.
All of the characters are well-defined with distinct and relatable personalities. Their narratives are interesting, angsty, and dramatic. The lives of these characters are tightly knitted together. All of this combines to make for a fun read filled with funny and heart warming moments.
Every Sweet Regret has everything you could ask for from a small town romance. Lexi Ryan does a good job of writing a swoon-worthy story that also has humor and relevance to real life.
So excited for the next installment in this new series! Stella has always had feelings for her brother’s best friend Kace, but with him being happily married she never acted on anything. Until things changed, and Kace ends up divorced. Giving a shot at dating apps, Stella has a horrible experience with a guy that knows about her past, and she almost gives up altogether until she gets a new match, who just so happens to be Kace. Kace’s ex-wife decides that he needs to get laid and downloads a dating app, and unbeknownst to him, he matches with Stella. As they get to know each other virtually, the chemistry and flirting between them hit an all-time high and they end up giving into their feelings in person as well. And because Kace has no idea that his virtual girl and Stella are one in the same, it makes for an interesting read! My heart really broke not only for Kace but for Stella as well, especially what she’s had to deal with in the past with relationships. I was so happy that we saw her finally take action against what happened to her, and that her friends supported her and stood by her through it. I also felt for Kace because of how his ex-wife acted, especially with the bombshell dropped about her towards the end. Per usual, another hit from Lexi and I can’t wait for Abbi’s book next!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Boy did these two have drama and secrets!! Kace was Stella’s friend older brother that she’s had a crush in since seventh grade. Too bad Kace was still hunged up on his ex-wife that clearly didn’t deserve him. But along the way we find out that he’s always noticed Stella but never made a move. They finally give in but there’s so much obstacles and third parties with secrets holding back this relationship to flourish. I didn’t think things would end well for these two based on all the secrets but once everything was clarified they had each other.
Jessica Rabbit is that you?
I couldn’t wait for this book. I knew I was going to love being in Stella’s head. I knew there was so much more to her than meets the eye. I wasn’t wrong, she is an awesome person, just a little misunderstood here and there, but aren’t we all lol… She had me cracking up on more than one occasion and kinda broke my heart in others. I just couldn’t help but to route for her.
Kace was such a good guy and he was always trying to do the right thing. He deserved to be happy, God knows he had waited long enough for it. Him and Stella were perfect together. She was exactly what he had been waiting for.
I loved Kace and Stella’s love story. I loved the whole dating app debacle. I was so happy when they both finally got their act together, stopped wasting time and were just together
This new series from Ms. Ryan is awesome with a great cast of characters and I cannot wait to see what happens next in Orchard Grove!
Lexi Ryan has done again with the story of Kace and Stella. She is the Queen of Angst for a reason.
Kace is a single dad who is recently divorced. While he has always seen how beautiful Stella is, he is still dealing with his unresolved feelings for his ex. Kace tries to keep his interactions with Stella surface level only, but she has been in love with her brother’s best friend for as long as she can remember and will settle for nothing more than she deserves. It takes her a while to figure out what that is. You see, she was the wild child who made some questionable decisions in the past, but she is trying to get her life back on track, put her past behind her, and give herself the future she deserves. They both come to the “hook up” app Random for different reasons. While Stella knows who she is talking to, due to no fault of hers, Kace has no idea, and Stella has no clue he’s in the dark. Cue the angst, the drama, the sexy banter, the misunderstandings, the heartbreak, and the healing. Stella struggles with the notion of whether or not people can ever truly escape their past and heal their reputation.
The world building that Lexi does, making us care for each character in the town she creates, has us hanging on for the next book in the series so that we can visit Orchid Valley again. She writes realistic stories of women we could all see ourselves being friends with, and men of strong character we would be lucky to have. Lexi has a beautiful way of tearing her characters down so that she can build them back up into something stronger, and she brings the story to a strong conclusion that it makes the journey worthwhile. I can’t wait for Every Time I Fall, book 3 in the OV series. Nobody does it better than Lexi Ryan.
4 STARS FOR EVERY SWEET REGRET!! Kace and Stella take us on a wonderful ride you will never forget. Their story will hit all your emotion button and have you turning pages. You must read this book and series.
I loved Stella, and I loved that she wasn’t afraid to go after what she wanted, and always said what was on her mind. She wanted Kace, and he knew it, but was afraid to take the risk because of her past reputation, and because he was worried that he might not be over his ex-wife. Kace also had a daughter (who was adorable) with his ex, and his ex did not get along well with Stella. There was also the matter that Kace was Stella’s brother’s best friend, and Stella was one of his sister’s best friends. Complications all around. Could a dating app bring them closer together, or make things worse?
I love Lexi and the first Orchid Valley book was a five-star read for me I absolutely had to get my hands on this book. But i was so invested in Brinley and Marston I can’t remember any of the background characters.
So basically, I read this book as a standalone except for the few times things sparked my memory. From the beginning I loved Stella. She was such a relatable, young lady who had made the normal human mistakes on her way to becoming an adult. And she had the usual insecurities about the mistakes she made.
Jace took me a while to warm to. He was so caught up in his ex-wife and he was so closed off to moving forward. It felt a bit like he was a teenage girl with his on and off feelings. I just wanted to smack him in the face and tell him to see what was right in front of his face.
But as the story went on and more things came to light, I understood where he was coming from. And I just fell harder for Stella for not letting life drag her down. Luckily as everything unfolded Jace did open his eyes and I saw everything that Stella had seen from the very beginning.
I can’t wait to see how Abbi’s story is going to go. And who she is going to fall for and get to know the rest of the secondary characters better. as well as to see more of Marston and Brinley and Jace and Stella.
Lexi Ryan did it again. I loved Every Sweet Regret. I was not able to read anything else until I finished it (I usually read 3 books at the same time). Kace & Stella’s love story is full of sexy, sweet, and angst moments. One moment I would be rooting for them and the next, I would be wanting to yell to them. I love it when a book makes do that. In addition, I really liked the first-person perspective of the main characters that the author uses to tell the story. It helps me to understand better their feelings and fears. Also, I loved the surprises the author put and how smoothly she did.
I can’t wait to read Abbi’s story!
“I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.”
Love a good a good romance, especially brother’s best friend/little sister. The angsty drama in the book was enough to keep me on edge and turning pages quickly! Kace and Stella are so great together! I haven’t read the first book in the series, definitely want to go back and read it. Looking forward to the next book!
I was drawn to this book because it’s a single dad romance and I’m a sucker for those. This is also a brother’s best friend romance. Another favorite of mine. I really dived into this book. I couldn’t put it down. I really liked Stella and Kace. They have a history back to their childhood. Stella has a reputation that no longer fits her. There is so much more to her. She radiates kindness that few truly take the time to see. I so wanted her to get a HEA that she deserves. It’s not an easy path, but the destination is so worth it. Kace has a lot of healing of his heart to reach a place of true happiness, but his eyes are now wide awake when it comes to Stella. He finally sees what’s in front of him, but will his past heartbreak make him gun shy? Kace little girl Hope is truly adorable. I wish she was in the book more. I love the interactions between father and daughter. They melt my heart. This is definitely a make you feel good story.
This is the second book in the Orchid Valley Series, a Single Dad Romance. This is one of my favorite trope! Kace and Stella’s story is sexy, fun, and sweet. I loved it! Kace is handsome, and sexy. Stella is lovely, and independent. They share an undeniable chemistry. There is a lot going on in this story, along with some unpredictable twists and turns. I love the ending. Looking forward to read the next book in the Series, Every Time I Fall.
I love a single parent romance and Every Sweet Regret is that and more. It is the perfect combination of enjoyable characters and an entertaining storyline that kept a smile on my face.
Kace and Stella have known each other for years. Now that Kace has been divorced for some time he is finally thinking about dating, but he has his daughter to consider. They are both attracted to the other but crossing that line, in addition to Stella being Kace’s best friends sister are just a couple of obstacles thrown in their way. Now, it all comes down to a dating app and some crazy flirty where they finally find that connection that brings them together!
I can’t wait to read this new single dad romance from Lexi Ryan!
Lexi Ryan writes such fabulous angsty books. Stella is the fun, good time, party girl, that never seems to find the right guy. And Kace is a single dad, still getting over his divorce (wondering where he went wrong), a responsible business owner and all round good guy. Except Stella has regrets, and she’s not really the person Kace thinks she is. And through the hook up app messages we get to know and understand both characters. Of course things don’t run smoothly.
Another fabulous book from Lexi Ryan. I look forward to more from this group of friends and siblings.
I am a huge fan of Lexi Ryan and can’t get enough of all her words. This story was a lovely standalone to add to the Orchid Valley series. The story flowed well, held my interest and took me on a journey of self discovery of the hero and heroine both individually and together. My only problem is I would have loved more of their story, I couldn’t get enough!
I enjoyed this book very much! I couldn’t put it down, its the best of the series so far!
3 STARS
Every Sweet Regret is the second book in Orchid Valley Series, and while each book can be read as standalone, I got better enjoyment from reading the first book in this series. Every Sweet Regret follows the lives of the main characters Stella and Kace, and their surrounding family and friends. For the most part I did like the story, but there was some things that did make this a 3 star review instead of a 5 star review.
I can and will say that I do enjoy this author’s writing. She kept my attention solely focused on this story, and this story alone. I am a huge fan of this particular trope, and I really liked how this author made it her own. The overall story developed in a timely manner, and the pace went along with that. There was a good amount depth that had me in my feelings, which makes me feel included in the story. I adored the actual chemistry, and how this author went about it.
There is more than a few things that bothered me about this story. Stella’s insistence to not know her value. Wait let me correct that, she knew she deserved better, but chucked it all out the window anyways knowing what the outcome would likely be. That came off weak to me. Kace was so strung up about his wife for more than half the book knowing what he knew about her, and when it came out yes he said he was angry, but it seemed to me like it was okay to him because he didn’t even really condemn her for her actions. The characters were decent in more ways the one, but I just couldn’t understand their logic some times. There is more that I was not a fan of, but that would give the story away. I was also left with questions that I would have liked answered in the book, and with everything ending kind of abruptly even with the epilogue I didn’t get those answers.
Overall this was a decent book, and heck maybe I will get the answers I need in the next book. Obviously the things that bothered e, will not stop me from reading more of this authors work.
