Wow! Jasxon has done it again! This book has all the feels…guilt, regret, determination, loyalty, respect, passion and at the heart a truly moving love story. Ramsey feels he is broken as far as relationships go, but he can’t help himself once he “rescues” Jordyn at a bar. Jordyn is a single mom who always puts her son first and tries to shield herself from feeling the pain she has in the past. She likes the arrangement she has made with Ramsey, but soon she finds she can’t go a day without wanting to at least hear his voice. As they work through their painful pasts and fear, you feel their pain, laughter, joy and love as if they were friends you would talk to. I loved this so much!!!
I was so excited to read this book when it finally went live, and Jaxson definitely did not disappoint. I was hooked from the first page. I loved the story of Jordyn and Ramsey. I loved how no matter what Jordyn always put her son Sam first. Ramsey had such a sad past, but really stepped up and took care of Jordyn and Sam.
Jaxson did an amazing job writing a story about a single mother who just wanted a little free time every other weekend.
I loved all the secondary characters especially aunt Millie. Everyone needs a person like her in their life.
Everyone should read this book, and experience the amazing words and stories that Jaxson Kidman writes. His writing gets better and better with every book.
I read this book via my ku subscription and am leaving my review voluntarily.
This is the first book by this author for me. It is a single mom second chance at love story, (but no cheating). Not a genre I usually like to read. It is a slow burn romance with some sexy time. Overall the story gets 4 stars, I felt the storyline/drama was pretty realistic. 3 stars for the h, 3.5 stars for the H.
Triggers: alcohol/drug abuse, verbal abuse, assault.
**spoilers**
Jordyn, married her hs boyfriend, got pregnant, divorced him after years of watching him abuse alcohol/drugs
Ramsey, aka Rams, single. Had a tragic childhood rescued by his aunt/uncle.
I know several single mom’s, but Jordyn has the poor me/victim/martyr thing going on. It was very difficult to like her.
I was frequently rolling my eyes at her. Ramsey’s background actually made it easier to like him. Even though he made plenty of bad decisions growing up and even as an adult, his character grew up and didn’t make excuses.
These two meet in a bar, (at one point they had attended hs together but were never friends) decide to engage in a friends with benefits thing every other weekend when Jordan’s son was off with his substance abuse dependent father.
Alot of back and forth junior high behavior from Jordyn.
Eventually their relationship changes and they get together. HEA
I started reading Every Other Weekend the way I start any Jaxson Kidman book with anticipation and expectations of a great story and relatable, characters that come alive on the page. I was in no way displeased with his latest offering. In fact I was anything but. Jaxson’s words carried me into his fictional world so effortlessly and smoothly it was like almost like going home for a visit. The story of Jordyn and Ramsey surpasses anything I have ever read from this author before. Jordyn is a non-cliche, single mother to Sam. Keith, Sam’s father has custody of him every other weekend. Jordyn having some time for herself goes out and meets Ramsey at a bar. Ramsey, becomes her knight in somewhat dented armour, and they form an instant connection that made me feel heady at times. The chemistry between them is both honest and titillating.
A plan was devised for them to be together every other weekend. It was a simple plan. It was a plan that would provide them both with something they needed and wanted. What on earth could go wrong with such simplicity? Maybe ex-partners and past revelations? The only thing I have to grumble about is that I wanted more. More of the amazing secondary characters that featured in the story. They brought even more humour, heartache and love. I won’t reveal anything that will spoil the book for you, so go read it, you won’t be disappointed. I promise.
Jaxson Kidman is a master storyteller and this journey he takes you on is filled with heart, soul, yearning, heartache and ultimately love. I laughed, cried, grieved with and got mad as hell at the characters. Parts of the book just broke my heart. Very few authors can reduce me to tears, Jaxson seems to excel at it. If you are new to Jaxson Kidman then this book is a phenomenal introduction to his work that will have you hooked from the get go. If like me you are already an avid reader of Jaxson’s, then all I can say to you is that this is truly his best work to date.
Every Other Weekend has set the bar very high for all other books that follow it this year. I, for one, am waiting on tenterhooks for the next book from Jaxson Kidman.
What an amazing, real emotion, fresh love story. Bad boy with a troubled past. Single mother with a child. When they collide it’s supposed to be every other weekend, but is that what happens? Read this book you will not be disappointed. Jaxson Kidman once again takes a subject that is very emotional and writes it with class, realism and flair. A solid 5 stars.
I love Jaxson Kidman’s books. He brings out so much emotion. Lots of authors write in dual POV or in the hero POV but I think he is one of the best. I loved Jordyn and Ramsey’s story and the storyline. The struggle is real for single parents to have any other life than that as a mom or dad. The fact that Jordyn put her son Sam first made me feel good, being cautious as a mom was the right thing to do. Wanting Sam to have a good relationship with his father was hard but she kept trying. I loved Ram’s character, hard broken but also so loving. The feelings this book gives makes it 5 stars.
I loved everything about this book. The love between a mother and her child. The extended family and friends you meet. More importantly the true love between Jordyn and Ramsey!!! It is my favorite Jaxson Kidman book yet. He draws you in. You can tell he put himself in this book!
God, Jaxson Kidman must hate me and all his readers or something, because every single damn time his writing tears my heart out. Every Other Weekend, like all his stories, is beautifully raw and real, and broke my heart with its sheer intensity. Ramsey and Jordyn’s story is my favorite Jaxson story since Dear Everly.
Ramsey and Jordyn had an arrangment, but as arrangements are wont to do, it changed. Changed because feelings. Because. Somehow Ramsey meets Jordyn’s young son and that’s where the change started. She hadn’t wanted them to meet, but you know, life doesn’t always go the way you want it to. And that right there is part of why I love this (and all of Jaxson’s writing), because he doesn’t shy away from telling it like it is, making his characters behave in ways that we all behave, in realistic ways. The things that happen around and to Ramsey and Jordyn are things that can, and do, happen to all of us, and it makes it so easy for me to relate to them and their story.
So, even if you haven’t had the pleasure of reading Jaxson’s writing, I highly recommend you start right now and 1-click Every Other Weekend. It’s beautiful. It’s real. It’s heartbreaking. And it’s a story anyone and just about everyone can relate to.
“But Sam came first, and always would.”
This is not your cliche single mum meets guy, falls in love and they live happily ever after. In true Jaxson style his characters have so much depth, they are genuine, surrounded by turmoil, you want to hug them or punch them.
Jordyn was prepared to sacrifice everything to ensure Sam was her priority even over her heart and making a life for herself. She’s scraping by trying to make ends meet, working two jobs to keep a roof over her sons head. Her ex Keith collects Sam every other weekend. He doesn’t make it any easier, by stirring the pot and blaming her for anything and everything. Poor Jordyn struggles watching him go, is full of self doubt and questions every decision she’s ever made. Finding out Keith’s girlfriend has been there during Sam’s visits upsets her. Not wanting him confused by introducing other partners into his life, however it was bound to happen sooner or later. Jordyn heads to a local bar with a girlfriend to let her hair down because Sam’s spending the weekend with his dad and her work cancelled.
Ramsay is having a few beers with his coworkers when he spots Jordyn sitting at the bar. The conversation is easy, he is everything she is attracted to and they just click. It starts as an every other weekend “thing” but as time goes by they struggle to put a label on their relationship. Then Ramsay gets to meet Sam and they seem to like one another. He has so much that needs to be discussed with Jordyn but Ramsay doesn’t want to lose her. His past torments him, he knows it’s the reason why he shouldn’t be with Jordyn but he just can’t help himself.
Keith likes to make Jordyn’s life difficult, he challenges her constantly, puts thoughts into Sam’s head. Somethings never change and old habits never die. He is jealous, bitter and twisted when he finds out about Ramsay.
Sam is the cutest little boy, Jordyn is trying to shelter him from all the bull that comes from a separation but this triangle around Sam is about to
Great read
This book Grips you from the beginning and gives you all the feels. Ramsey and Jordyns story brings you on a journey of a single mother and a guy who has loss and a rough upbringing and there second chance.
What an emotional and realistic story. Jaxson knocked this book out of the park. It’s amazing! Love it. It will keep you attention from beginning to end.
Every Other Weekend is the book that I have been waiting for Jaxson to write for the last two and a half years! This book is hands down the best of the best. I couldn’t believe how relatable this story was. Jordyn was the most incredible female character Jaxson has ever written. She is strong, witty, tough, loyal, and a wonderful mother. I fell in love with Ramsey right out of the gate! These two couldn’t have been more perfect for each other. I enjoyed watching their love story unfold piece by piece and couldn’t wait for this story to finish unfolding. And let me not forget the most adorable five year old ever – Sam. He was the perfect little scene stealer! This book was the total package and another absolute five-star must read.
Fantastic!!
Jaxson does it again! The first few chapters suck you in and make it feel like you’re living your life through Jordyn and Ramsey’s, and this feeling remains throughout the book.
A wonderful story about love, loyalties, protection of loved ones and of each other. I love the dynamics between Aunt Millie, Uncle Tom and Ramsey with all the other characters and how Sam just brightens everyone’s life with his innocence and cutness.
Highly recommend.
Jaxson Kidman wrote an exceptional story about life’s struggles, hard work and sacrifices.
Jordyn is a hardworking single mother that sacrifices everything to give her son, Sam the food, the house and happiness that he needs.
Then comes Ramsey a hardworking man that had a rough uprising and because of that he became a difficult teenager. In his difficult teenage years, his Uncle Tom and Aunt Millie take him under their wing and they raised him.
This beautiful story is about how Jordyn and Ramsey get together after all their insecurities, family drama, misunderstandings and let love guide them starting Every Other Weekend and then sometimes more.
The struggles that Jordyn and Ramsey go thru is what many people pass in real life. It’s a very amazing and deep story that didn’t disappoint me. I loved this story.
This is not your typical romance. It is raw and real and Ramsey and Jordyn’s story will take you on a roller coaster of emotions. A single mom and a man haunted by the choices he made in the past. I felt emotionally invested in the characters and the outcome of their story. This is definitely a 5 star must read!
Jordyn is a single mom who shares her son, Sam with her ex Keith, every other weekend. She has Sam most days but she knows it’s important for him to spend time with his father. Keith and Jordyn were high school sweethearts. Young love-young, stupid love, the kind that never grows to maturity and just fizzles out-love. But Sam was a product of that love and Jordyn has no regrets. Sam is the best thing in her life.
On a rare evening with nothing to do, Jordyn and her friend head to a local bar. There they run into old friends from school. Ramsey happens to be one of them.
After high school, Ramsey took a construction job with his Uncle Tom. Uncle Tom and his wife Aunt Millie raised Ramsey from a young age into the sexy, flirty alpha he is today.
A bar scuffle ensues and Jordyn finds herself alone with Ramsey where they tentatively agree to meet again. Nothing is set in stone though. Rams knows they could have fun together if Jordyn would just give him a chance. Jordyn is gun shy and has been out of the game for a while. She’s got Sam to consider and an ex that just can’t seem to get his act together.
Jordyn is used to living a hard life, barely getting by and always feeling the guilt that comes with raising a son, basically, alone. Rams is easy. Easy to talk to. Easy to flirt with. And the sex is intense and mind blowing, and even that’s easy. Something had to give and it wasn’t long before it would.
Jordyn is sassy, strong and taking control of her life. Rams is bold, dangerous and too charming for his own good.
A COMPLEX STORYLINE THAT WAS RAW AND REAL AS WELL AS SEXYAND FLIRTY !
THE SECONDARY CHARACTERS REALLY ADDED DIMENSION AND ROUNDED OUT THE STORY ! REAL LIFE DIALOGUE KEPT THE STORY FLOWING ! JAXSON’S WRITING STYLE WILL KEEP YOU INVESTED UNTIL THE VERY LAST PAGE ! ! ! HIGHLY RECOMMEND-A DEFINITE MUST READ ! ! !
Jaxson Kidman once again lured me in with this beautifully written story. I loved all the characters but my favorite above all was Sam! My inner child really connected with him and everything this story represents. If you haven’t bought this book yet, I recommend you do! Happy Reading!
