On an ordinary morning, Maria Colson takes her baby son Dylan to the corner store. She turns her back for only a few seconds. When she looks again, she sees his empty stroller, as Dylan is being abducted into a waiting van. Maria climbs into the van, but is violently thrown to the road where she is left for dead as the vehicle vanishes without a trace.
As Maria fights for her life and her … her anguished young husband keeps a beside vigil, the FBI and police across metro Sea-Tac and Washington State search for Dylan.
Seattle Mirror reporter Jason Wade is under pressure to bring in a big story, and the Colson kidnapping could be it. It’s certainly a bizarre case with pieces that just don’t add up: The Colsons are a hard-working couple. Former high school sweethearts. No problems. No enemies.
Then Jason and his dad, a private detective haunted by his former life as a cop, discover a grisly murder of a young woman that is somehow connected to the Colsons.
Now, in a dark Seattle underground of desperate dreamers and ex-convicts, Jason embarks on an investigation that parallels one led by Homicide Detective Grace Garner.
They’re both hunting for the one piece of the puzzle that connects the baby’s disappearance with a spine-tingling case of revenge. And time is running out, because whoever took little Dylan Colson is more dangerous than anyone could ever imagine.

Great author
It has made me interested in his other books.
Writing was only average at best. Characters the same. Still, it was a good story. Kept me interested til the end. An easy, if somewhat forgettable, read.
I could not put it down until the end
As usual Rick Molina is amazing at keeping the suspense going throughout the story. With Seattle reporter Jason always going to any lengths to find the truth.
Rick Mofina is a master of the thriller.
You can’t go wrong reading a Rick Mofina book. This doesn’t disappoint. Great book and great characters. Enjoy!
Rick Mofina’s thrillers never disappoint and this is no exception. Loved it!
Excellent book. Keeps you on your toes. Excellent characters. The reader can’t help but get emotionally involved in this story.
EVERY FEAR
A unique story line involving a reporter, as usual with Mofina. This time, the bad person is a terribly abused young woman who previously killed a child whom she gave up for adoption and was instutionalized because of that. She communicates with a con and hooks up with him when he gets out. She believes that Maria’s son, Dylan, is her child and kidnaps him, expecting that she, the con and the child will move to the Oregon coast in the house of her dreams. With the help of his father, Jason figures out what is happening. Dylan is saved; the ersatz mother dies.
A high stakes story that follows a baby’s kidnapping by a deranged woman that leaves the mother near death. Can they find the baby before something happens to him?
I am definitely a Rick Mofina fan. Having been born & raised in the Green Lake area of Seattle, I love reading books that take place in the area. Although Mr. Mofina doesn’t go into quite the detail of the area as J. A. Jance, he is right up there in my opinion. This is my first Jason Wade book & I will definitely be reading the others. In Every Fear he does an excellent job of storytelling and this is a page turner. You can’t wait to see what is coming next. I like his style as there is not a lot of unnecessary gore, cursing or sex.
This was the second Jason Wade novel I’ve read. He has grown in his craft. It follows the young crime reporter, as he digs into the kidnapping of an infant boy, and the serious injuries to the mother. I don’t like falling into clichés, but I had trouble putting it down. It was tense and exciting, and even better than the first book in this series, The Dying Hour. It brings Jason’s personal life alive, while also managing to be a complex, accurate, police procedural. You won’t be disappointed!
Oh wow, what a fantastic read. Rick Mofina really knows how to tell a story. He puts you on the edge of your seat and then keeps you there; with a full speed emotional ride, where you have your finger constantly poised over the panic button. James Chapman, International Best Selling Author of No Time for Reality
It’s every mother’s fear, that some stranger will steal their baby. And that’s exactly what happens. But the reason will surprise you – lots of good twists and turns in this one.
New author for me. Glad I found him. Good reading.
Dependable fare from one of my favorite authors, keeps you guessing and sometimes on the edge of your seat. Fast moving and kept mre up at night to finish it. Highly recommend.
One of my favorite authors.
I like the protagonist who is a reporter, with ethics and smarts.
Hard to put down. After reading this, bought more books by Rick Mofina. Never disappoints!!
