George Mahood had a nice, easy, comfortable life. He had a job, a house, a wife, and kids. But something was missing. He was stuck in a routine of working, changing nappies, and cleaning up cat sick. He felt like he was missing out on a lot of what the world had to offer.
He then discovered that it was Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day. The day after that was National Curmudgeon Day, and the day … the day after that was Inane Answering Machine Message Day. In fact, the calendar is FULL of these quirky, weird, and wonderful events. He realised that somebody somewhere had created these holidays, believing that they were important enough to warrant their own official day. Surely he should therefore be more appreciative of their existence? So he decided to try and celebrate them all. As you do. He hoped that at the end of the challenge he would be transformed into a happier, more intelligent, and more content person.
Follow George on his hilarious, life-changing adventure as he tries to balance his normal life with a wealth of new experiences, people, facts, and ridiculous situations. It’s a rip-roaring, life-affirming, roller-coaster of a ride, where every day is a holiday.

Loved the book. The author has been sense of humor and a great use of descriptions and narratives. Can’t wait to read more by him.
Made me want to celebrate the unusual days that I never heard of, with a sense of humor and excitement. Everyday is truly a holiday, so let’s celebrate!
Not impressed. Supposedly it is a funny book. I wasn’t very amused.
This book is not only unusual but quite ridiculous and a good book to pick up and put down as time permits. Somethings in this book, as one reads, are just a lark and makes the book enjoyable reading with a nice twist on ordinary life. The author’s wife comments regularly and well through out the story lines. Family orientedness gets my 5 star …
It brought a smile to my face. Any one of us could celebrate every day, but only George Mahood has risen to the challenge.
I read about three chapters but could not get into the book.
I loved this humorous book!! I would definitely recommend it.
I laughed out loud at some of the antics in the book. Mahood is a fresh voice. I bought the book for my brother who has daughters and likes to cook. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
I didn’t think I would like this when I started it. But it pulled me in. I liked the author’s humor, and his willingness to open his life to us.
This book is so me. I love celebrating life’s adventures!
Not my style.
Why the profanity? I didn’t finish the book.
If you enjoy reading blogs, you will probably like this collection of half a year’s miscellaneous thoughts. The author even acknowledges that is what it actually is in the middle of it. It was classified as Humor, but I kept looking for that and found very little except when he quoted his wife and children. I wish I had given up hope of finding it …
Boring, sort of stupid
About 20% into it I gave up. Boring!
Sorry, just did not click with me
A reasonably clever idea (trying to celebrate daily holidays), wittily written. I wouldn’t spend much for it, but it’s a fun read at a low price. A somewhat British sense of humor.
While I’m sure there are MUCH more enlightening choices, this is one to read a few screens of (with your blue-blocker glasses, of course) to relax your mind just before …
This book simply wasn’t my “cup of tea.” I quit reading it after the first few chapters.
Author has found every day of the year is SOME holiday. Obvious ones—Christmas, New Years, etc but also Mew Year, pizza day.
George Mahood stays in my head (scary, huh?) all day. I keep thinking about my life and how funny it really is looking at it from his perspective. Everyday occurrences now take on more meaning after reading his.
