The New York Times bestselling Under Suspicion series by the “Queen of Suspense” Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke returns with this gripping mystery following television producer’s Laurie Moran investigation of the unsolved Met Gala murder–in which a wealthy widow was pushed to her death from the famous museum’s rooftop. Laurie Moran’s professional life is a success–her television show … success–her television show Under Suspicion is a hit, both in the ratings and its record of solving cold cases. But her romantic break from former host Alex Buckley has left her with on-air talent she can’t stand–Ryan Nichols–and a crippling sense of loneliness.
Now Ryan has suggested a new case. Three years ago, Virginia Wakeling, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and one of the museum’s most generous donors, was found dead in the snow, after being thrown from the museum’s roof on the night of the Met Gala. The leading suspect then and now is her much younger boyfriend and personal trainer, Ivan Gray.
Ivan runs a trendy, successful boutique gym called Punch–a business funded in no small part by the late Virginia–which happens to be the gym Ryan frequents. Laurie’s skepticism about the case is upended by a tip from her father’s NYPD connection, and soon Laurie realizes there are a bevy of suspects–including Virginia’s trusted inner circle.
As the Under Suspicion crew pries into the lives of a super wealthy real estate family with secrets to hide, danger mounts for several witnesses–and for Laurie.

Another really good mystery by Mary Higgins Clark and Alafair Burke. Laurel is back , she has a tv show ” Under Suspicion “. This time to find out who killed a lady who was thrown off the top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There are plenty of suspects each with their own reason to have killed her. This story has intrigue, greed, many interesting characters, fast moving, and yes romance.
These two authors truly know how to make you feel part of the story, keep you interested and yearning for more.
I truly did not want this story to end. It was just that good.
I have never found a Mary Higgins Clark book I didnt love.
This was no exception, good to the last page, hated to put it down
A great read!
Enjoy all of her books. Will miss them.
I enjoyed this book very much! With realistic characters and strong plot of a twisted mystery, this is an exciting read!
I’m absolutely ashamed to admit it: I read this story purely for the romance. I mean… Alex & Laurie’s struggle made me go through this book like crazy. Yeah, the suspense was ok, but I knew who’s committed the murder right after I got introduced to that person so it didn’t really hold my attention anymore.
Now, I think I should grab the next book…
Another great Under Suspicion novel.
I love this series and the whole group Lori is always looking to help her cases and putting her detective skills to work to solve the case.
This one is no different with a new case not very cold a new group of suspects and who did it? Throw in her employees who are awesome the conflict is still going on with the new host and a little Alex swooning makes for a prefect story.
Another one of Mary Higgins Clark’s great books.
This was a fun read, and altho I was sure I knew “who did it” I didn’t. Plus, I did not get bored, the characters were well fleshed out. It was a good and reasonably quick read.
One of the few books I couldn’t make myself read all the way through. I kept waiting on it to get better, but it never happened – so I gave up the attempt 2/3 of the way through. It may be typical stuff for Mary Higgins Clark, but I picked up the book because of Alafair Burke being listed as an author. It really disappointed me compared to previous Alafair Burke books. Alafair, be true to your own voice.
I love Mary Higgins Clark and the twists she inserts into her plots. This is a good series (Under Suspicion).
Very slow, did not get interesting until the end of the novel.
Every bit as good as all Mary Higgins Clarks, books. She is a wonderful story teller. When I start one of her books I have to force myself to put them down. I have read everything she has written and anxiously await her next novel.
The book was quick reading and interesting. It was predictable.
She’s always good.
I always enjoy this author
I am loving this series. The characters are likable, the stories are captivating, and I am entertained for the duration. Nice quick and easy read.
EXCELLENT BOOK AS ALWAYS FROM MARY HIGGINS.
My fav author and again did not disappoint.
Like the concept of this series. Easy reading but enjoyable even with some predictable outcomes. Always a bit of an adventure.
