Dating can be tricky, but how hard can it be to find the right guy? Or even just a normal guy?For Everly Dalton, it’s a bit like trying to walk in stilettos—while drunk, blindfolded, and wearing the wrong size shoes. She hasn’t exactly been lucky in love. In fact, she just might be cursed.A guy who only dates lookalikes of his ex? Pass. An alpha-male businessman who bolts in a moment of crisis? … bolts in a moment of crisis? No thanks. A date that turns into the creepiest interview in the history of ever? Where does she find these guys?
Join Everly as she dishes to her friends about the surprising, unpredictable, and sometimes crazy adventure that is modern dating. Will she keep matching with frogs or find her Prince Charming?
Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters originally appeared as six serial episodes in Claire Kingsley’s newsletter. The complete series is available here in one volume. Each episode is an account of one of Everly’s (typically terrible) dates. This series of short stories takes place before the full-length, stand-alone hot romcom, Faking Ms. Right, releasing May 23rd.

A cute collection of funny dating stories. Everly recounts her dating disasters to her two besties and boy did she go on some doozies. From frat boy style weddings to nightmare dinners. This is a short, light, funny listen and the prequel to FAKING MS. RIGHT.
Emma does a great job on the narration with good comedic timing to get the most out of the scenarios.
You definitely get a sense of who Everly is and I’m looking forward to seeing where this story goes in the next book.
I enjoyed this prequel and I just made me want to read the next one! Everly is a fun character and her besties sound like a group I’d enjoy hanging with.
This is a hilarious prequel to the first book in the series. If you are just starting the series like I did, read this first, you will get a little bit of background into how awful dating has been for Everly. I didn’t think dates could be that bad, but for here, they really can, over and over again.
The anti-romance. This was so funny! And it makes me want to reread Faking Ms. Right.
After reading a book further in the series, I decided I could use more of the lighthearted, funny romance that Claire Kingsley seems so good at. I came back to the very beginning, and if my giggling for the past hour was any indication: it was worth it.
Summary:
Everly Dalton is almost positive she’s cursed. With modern dating having all the conveniences of technology, it shouldn’t be hard to find a good guy. Right? Well, for Everly it’s an impossible task. Heck! She’s surprised she made it through the epic disasters in real time. She’ll need a whole lot of Martinis and wine and her best friends at her side to retell them. If her luck turns around, maybe all these mishaps will lead her to her Prince Charming.
Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters is a quick, feel-good read. While this book is a prequel to a romance, there isn’t a stable romance that occurs in the book. That wasn’t a problem, though. I really liked Everly in Marrying Mr. Wrong, and her hilarious retellings of her dating experiences only had me liking her more. Boy, did she go through it. Lol. From ex-lookalikes to offers of threesomes with a side of a date with his mom in attendance and everything in between, Everly takes us on part of her journey through modern dating. Just when you think she’s scraping the bottom of the barrel of bad dates, she goes on the next and you realize there’s a whole new level of bad. The story was funny and showcased the friendship between the women. I thoroughly enjoyed this comedic tease into Everly’s romantic life and I’m looking forward to seeing her finally find the one.
How could one person have so many bad first dates?
Everly Dalton just can’t seem to find the right man to date.
She is beautiful, smart, funny and so likeable but when it comes to dating, she’s a walking disaster and wants to just swear of dating.
In this prequel to Faking Ms. Right, we learn of her dating record, date after disastrous date.
We also get to meet the rest of The dirty Martini Running Club, which consists of her best friends Hazel and Nora.
Emma Wilder, is one of my favorite narrators. She gives every character their own personality and she is so fun to listen to.
Everly guesses that her and her best friends, Nora and Hazel, hung out at their favorite bar quite a bit since the bartender named them THE DIRTY MARTINI RUNNING CLUB. He wasn’t too far off since they sometimes would run and loved dry martinis.
She relayed to her friends her dating disasters. First a guy wanted to hook up because she looked like his ex-girlfriend. He might have been sexy, but that was just plain creepy. The next one not only left her in a restaurant while she was choking on her steak, but stuck her with the expensive bill. And the dates just get better….I mean so so much worse.
This book is absolutely hilarious! I love Everly, her quirky friend Hazel and Nora the most adventurous of them. I really loved seeing Cooper crossover to this book. You really need to read about the Miles family!!
Can’t wait to see what Claire Kingsley has in store for Every next!
Crazy story. It might be funny if it wasn’t so creepy. Doesn’t make as much sense as fiction ought to.
Such a great novella and prequel to Faking Ms. Right!
Everly Dalton leaves us shaking our heads at all of her dating disasters. She’s searching for her one, the guy who treats her right and is forever. What she finds is Mr. Psycho, Mr. Ditch, Mr. Trying the other side, Mr. Job Interview, Mr. Peen and Mr. 3Some. These stories are hilarious and a little bit sad. What’s it gonna take for Everly to find her forever?
Claire does a great a job of leaving us shaking our head and chuckling. She’s becoming a “sure thing” for enjoyment whenever I pick up one of her stories.
Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters (A Faking Ms. Right Prequel) is a hilarious dating memoir. I absolutely loved this entertaining prequel novella to get your toes wet. Broken down into episodes, each one comical in their own way. I absolutely loved Everly’s character and her best friends were so much fun. So excited, I couldn’t wait to listen to Faking Miss Right.
Emma Wilder naration was flawlessly smooth. Her inflection is exhilarative and an indulgence. Highly entertaining.
A first all around as both author and narator were both new to me and will be interested in listening to other audios. I highly recommend listening to this series.
A short quick read to pull you in.
Everly has had a disastrous time dating. Just wanting to find her one and only seems to be hard to do.
I enjoyed these 6 episodes of Everly’s dating mishaps. Look forward to reading the next book.
Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters by Claire Kingsley is a quick and fun prequel to Faking Ms. Right. In this novella, told in first person, single POV, we meet Everly and her best friends, Nora and Hazel. We also get a glimpse of Everly’s horrible luck in the dating world as she experiences six bad dates and shares the stories with her friends. A funny and enjoyable read.
Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters
A Faking Ms. Right Prequel
By: Claire Kingsley
Narrated by: Emma Wilder
I don’t think I have laughed out loud to a book like I did when I listened to this one. The prequel to Faking Ms. Right, this introduces us to Everly and the Dirty Martini Running Club(Hazel and Nora). It’s split into 6 episodes, each a horrible date that Everly is on, and will leave you with a smile on your face. Listening to this may hit home a little too much with each disaster being something we all can relate to. It’s the perfect segway to book one and I really enjoyed it.
Emma Wilder nails this hilarious story with her amazing comedic timing. It’s the first time I have heard her do comedy and I could not have been more impressed. She gives all the disasters that little bit of sarcasm so we can get through and move on to the next one. I loved her performance.

Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters
A Faking Ms. Right Prequel
By: Claire Kingsley
Narrated by: Emma Wilder
This is a fun and enjoyable book, it is well written and well told with interesting storylines that will captivate you and put a smile on your face. Claire Kingsley has a way with words and she fit a lot of story into her novella. I like how each chapter was broken into episodes, each episode is details of Everly Dalton’s Disastrous Dates and some of them are real doozies. Everly is a great character, she has a wonderful sense of humor and ability to just go with it. She has a great group of friends too. This is a quick read and/or audible listen, once you start it you will not want to put it down, you have to know what happens next. Claire Kingsley, thank you for this great book, I am looking forward to what is in store for Everly in “Faking Ms. Right”.
I listened to the Audible edition, Emma Wilder is a fabulous narrator and voice artist. She brings the characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. You could hear how much heart she puts into her work as she projects the characters emotions into her performance. Her portrayal of Everly and the secondary characters was spot on, they sounded as you pictured them to be. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen
This is a prequel to Kingsley’s Faking Ms. Right. If I had a choice I would’ve read this before reading Faking Ms. Right because while I was reading Faking Ms. Right there were many hints about Everly’s horrific dates. These dates are so bad. But, oh so funny!!! This is definitely a must read.
The dates range from a gay guy “trying something different” to a first date wedding to a guy getting his peen stabbed.
This is a prequel novella to Faking Ms. Right. It is quick, fun and the dating disasters that Everly has to endure are pretty funny. Quick fun read.
So funny. Her awful disastrous dates are cringe worthy. Claire Kingsley is one of my favorites!
Quick little collection of ridiculously funny dating experiences … short, sweet and very, very funny.
I’m still chuckling …
Everly Dalton’s Dating Disasters: Prequel to Faking Ms. Right is a short story describing a series of crazy first date fails by my new favorite heroine, Everly Dalton. This is by Claire Kingsley.
Everly believes in fairy tales, in finding the one, or she’s trying to anyway. But for some reason, she seems to be a magnet for the crazy. But she doesn’t give up and keeps trying to meet her “one.” This little book is a description of six of Everly’s first dates as she describes her experiences to her two best friends, Hazel and Nora.
“How many frogs does a girl have to kiss before she finally finds her prince?”
Everly lives in Seattle, she is a successful executive assistant to a prominent business man, and enjoys hanging out with her two friends. These three love to sit over martinis and share their love lives or lack of with each other.
“Was I one of those women who said she wanted a nice guy, but really wanted a bad boy? Was I doomed to keep dating jerks because they made me tingly between the legs?”
Poor Everly has tried dating apps, meeting men in bars, letting her friend choose her date for her, or any other way of trying to find her prince. In these chapters you will meet Zack, who only dates look-a-likes of his ex, Stephen, who left her high and dry in the face of an emergency, a gay man trying to get over his ex by dating a woman, a gym muscle man, a creepy mama’s boy, and a party animal.
Everly and her friends were so much fun. I loved this little book. It’s only about seventy pages long and will leave you chuckling long after you finish it. I can’t wait for Claire’s book, Faking Ms. Right. Will Everly finally meet her own prince charming? Or is she destined to be a single cat lady for the rest of her life? We will soon find out!
