I wasn’t sure what to expect with this story as I like murder mysteries and there was no dead body mentioned in the blurb, how wrong was I? It was quite slow to start , which I think was intended as it built up the characters and made you like or hate them, then pow the story flips on you, which you were kind of expecting but still oh my gosh!! The story kept you in suspense as to what was going to happen and even how it was going to end. I ended up really enjoying it and looking forward to the next book.
Brook is starting at a new collage and being a geek finds she would much rather study than hangout. Despite the odds she soon lands the affections of the hottest guy on campus. With the help of him and his best friend she is soon talked into putting away her books but nobody could guess the consequences of this action when a blizzard hits the school. Is it bad to be good or good to be bad?
I liked the narrator and think she does an excellent job with each of the characters from whiny to scary all are good at building up the tension.
Contrary to popular opinion, psychopaths come in all shapes and forms. Some charming and looking perfectly normal, and some… well, let’s don’t go there. Jenifer Ruff’s Brooke is the cold blooded type that we luckily don’t see very often in reality, especially so in women. Amazing!
This was another hard to put down book. I recommend
Good story. It makes me wonder how many over achievers are obsessed to the point of missing out on life because of their obsessions, and what they are willing to do in order to reach their own personal goal. How many of these people are really psychotic. It’s enough to cause a college or even a high school student wary to the point of being on the lookout for anyone who seems obsessed with their studies.
I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Now this is one you do not expect at first to take you over completely. As you turn the pages you are soon following a mysterious mind player on you and your senses. The characters have layers with you scratching your head at times. Brooke is more than she gives to those around her. Ethan and Jessica also squeeze in there making this one well rounded stay on your toes read. Of course as you are now deep in this you must hold on until the next one to get more of this for your mind to wrap around.
The author states this book is dark and indeed it is. It is also very slow. Took almost 1/4 of the book to understand what the story was really about and the speed did not pick up much through the rest of the book. Good premise, a young, female Hannibal Lecter but not as exciting or scary.
Read the three books in the series.
REVIEW Everett
I found the story flat, obvious and predictable. You know who the villain is three pages into the story. The only thing that really surprised me was after I finished reading the story and found the author planned to make a series based on this villainess’s continuing education. This cutie pie fitness fanatic “villainess” is no Hannibal Lector I’m sorry to say. There’s no mystery about what or who she’s going to do. You can guess exactly how she’s going to do it but none of her methods are gasp-inducing.
The plot was interesting enough, although there was not much suspense (it being no secret that the main character was a sociopath). Most of the main characters are college students, so the immaturity of their behavior got annoying from time to time. Still, I’d be interested to continue reading more of the series, to see what happens to the main character as she continues on.
Started out as being an interesting psychological thriller but then waned about half way through it. It seems the author didn’t know how to continue with the story so just stopped writing without an having an ending. Could have been a good book. Would not recommend paying for this book.
This is an excellent series. Dark and twisted with interesting characters.
kept me wondering…..
Possibly the worst book I have ever read-the main character is a psycopath! Did not enjoy at all!
Too much going on and unconnected. T barely made it half way hoping it would get better. Not interested
I couldn’t put this book down – I immediately downloaded and read her other two books as well – I hope she puts out a fourth in the series because I am still wondering what could happen!!!!
Enjoyed the read. It was a bit predictable but I believe it was meant to be written that way.
5+
But… What the heck with that ending?! I couldn’t sleep! Sequel please!!!
Not as interesting as I hoped
Well written, dark and twisted, but difficult to put down!
