FROM EXCITING NEW ROMANCE AUTHOR JAQUELINE SNOWEBook one in the Out of the Park seriesFiona Davis and Gideon Titan have nothing in common except their mutual dislike of each other. But when they’re stuck coaching together for four months, each battle sparks flames, turning them into enemies with benefits… unsure what she wants to do with her life, who volunteers to coach a baseball team at the suggestion of a charity close to her heart.
Gideon Titan is an injured MLB player desperate to save his career, whose manager volun-told him to coach the youth team to rediscover his love of the game.
She hates his attitude and extravagant, multiple-car-owning lifestyle. He hates her constant need to prove herself and the way she snorts when she laughs. They both hate the six days a week they’re forced to see each other. What starts with a snarl boils into a sexual tension they both resent, but the only time they aren’t arguing is when they’re naked.
They do it all backwards—enemies, co-coaches, lovers, then to some version of friends. If they want anything more, someone has to take the first step. There’s not a chance in hell it’ll be Fiona…unless Gideon can prove he’s worth the risk.
But making sacrifices is asking a lot for two people who know what it means to lose.

Jacqueline Snowe is a new author to me but after reading this book that’s about to change. I really enjoyed this entertaining read about a high profile baseball player who is getting over an injury and a college senior who knows what she wants. Two very different people who are stuck together for the next four months coaching a high school baseball team.
Fiona has volunteered to coach the team because of a charity that’s close to her heart what she doesn’t expect is to butt heads with her co coach a injured MLB player who is desperate to get back on the field and save his career. Gideon is not an easy man to like and to be honest at times I wanted to throttle him but as this story unfolds we get to see the man behind the brash obnoxious player.
She hates his smart mouth and he hates her constant need to prove herself so can these enemies become friends or even lovers and will Gideon be able to prove to Fiona he is worth taking a chance on well I guess you need to read the book to find that out. Looking forward to book 2 in the Out of the Park Series as well as checking out other books by this very talented author.
I have to admit that I didn’t think I was going to like either of the lead characters when I started this book. She was as crude as a sailor on shore leave, hiding secrets and seriously broken. He was a spoiled prima dona, mad at the world because he was injured playing baseball. But I like baseball stories and I liked the premise – co-coaching a team of teenagers for the season. It had possibilities so I gave it a shot, and am I ever glad I did.
Evening the Score is a well written story with just enough steam (warning, some of those scenes will make you blush), enough snark and enough real baseball to let me lose myself in the story. This isn’t one of those stories where the author decides baseball players are sexy so we’ll make the hero one and then completely forgets about the sport for the next couple of hundred pages. Gid and Fiona’s challenges in turning a bunch of teenage boys into a winning under 14 baseball team, even when the last thing they want to do is work together feels genuine, as does the relationship that grows between them as they discover the pain and vulnerability that lurks under their tough as nails exteriors.
Jaqueline Snowe’s story is a winner, even if you’re not a big fan of America’s pastime.
So, I’m a huge fan of sports romance and this is new author for me. Gideon is this gorgeous, arrogant, cocky baseball player. Did I mention he’s got a lot of pent up frustration from not playing due to knee injury. Fiona is this young woman who is unsure of her career but loves helping kids. Put these two together to volunteer to coach teen boys baseball and watch the baseball banter begin! Who pushes whose buttons more and quicker?! It’s so cute watching these two bicker like an old married couple! Read this book and see if they manage to score home run!
Fiona and Gideon meet when they become co-coaches for a teen boys baseball team. The banter starts imeediatley and continues as the heat betwwen them also rises. Relationships are a big part of this book, a romanic one, family, friends, the boys on the baseball team and a prior love all intermingle to telll the story. A steamy. sports romance with heart that is fun
This is my first read from Jaqueline Snowe.
I was swept in from the very beginning.
I really enjoyed Gideon and Fiona’s story.
This was a fast read with a fantastic storyline.
I highly recommend this book.
Four and a Half Stars
This was my first book by Jaqueline Snowe and I say, color me impressed. I absolutely loved reading Gideon and Fiona’s love story. From start to finish this book drew me in and kept me interested. Gideon is an injured pro baseball player with a huge chip on his arrogant shoulder. He is equal parts sexy and grousy but deep down you can’t help but love him. Fiona is complicated. An incredibly beautiful woman with a tragic past that weighs heavily on her. These two very different yet scarily similar people find themselves working together. I loved their banter and exchanges just as much as I enjoyed their hot off the charts chemistry. A delightful read that you should definitely TBR. (I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review).
Wildly entertaining and so much fun! This story was full of laugh out loud banter and crazy sexy romance. The character were perfect for each other. Great read!
I loved this book. I loved the dynamics between the main characters and the humorous interactions between them that made the story come to life even more. I love the sports setting and the inclusion of a knowledge female sports fan/practitioner which is so true to life but not always shown in fiction. A wonderful read from start to finish!
this was a really great book! she is going to help coach a team of kids with a hot guy who has a attitude towards her. she wont take this lying down. read to find out what happens.
It’s not often that I grin constantly while reading a book, but with all the fantastic banter and delicious tension through Evening the Score, I couldn’t help it.
This is a perfect specimen of enemies to lovers in a well-done sports setting. And it is spiiiiccy! Phew!
Pick it up right now if you love baseball, baseball players, women who don’t take shit from anyone but remain incredibly likable, grumpy hot bad boy men who also remain incredibly likable, no inhibition open-door sexy times, and amazing dialogue.
