A story about how coming together can break us apart… leave.

EVEN BETTER is a sexy follow up novella best read after BETTER WHEN IT HURTS. Fair warning: Contains two hot ex-military men and a girl caught in the middle.

with a further look into Hannah & Blue’s relationship
A great read. A deeper look into Blue and Hannah’s relationship. We see her doubt and his complete understanding of what she needs. Their need for each other is a tangible thing. We are introduced to West, Blue’s best friend and also ex-military. He adds a short and interesting dynamic to the story. I want more of Hannah and Blue but am moving on to the next story. Excited to learn more.
I downloaded this after reading Better When It Hurts and being curious about what happens next for this couple. This novella is short enough to read all in one go, but I kind of feel like it could’ve been included with Better When It Hurts to enhance the story and not make it feel like the ending was rushed
Very short. Very messed up. Just not my type of book.
Even Better is a continuation of Blue and Lola’s story and can be read as a standalone. In fact, I read it as a standalone. It’s short but the heat level is through the roof! We get to see them living out their HEA when Blue’s friend, West, comes home from the military. And Blue doesn’t mind sharing every now and then. I definitely recommend this if you are looking for something short and sexy.
If you thought Better When It Hurts was hot, then Even Better has even more 😉
I picked this story up as part of an anthology, having not read anything by this author before. Honestly, I’m coming into this story completely blind. (I did go back and read the blurbs of the other stories in the series before I got started, so I kind of knew what the series was about) This story is a novella, and unlike the other novellas in this anthology, Three of a Kind, it is not a complete story. It is more of a glimpse into the lives of the characters, that just so happens to involve a threesome (!)
Blue and Hannah are already an established couple. But they both have their own issues that they are still working on. Since this story is told from Hannah’s POV, we get more of her than we do of Blue. Hannah seems to be a very sweet, giving person. And as amazing as her relationship with Blue is, her past isn’t all roses and champagne. She has a huge self esteem problem, and isn’t exactly sure where her life is going. She is the kind of character that readers will easily connect with.
This novella, despite not being a full story, was really great. I was pulled in from the very beginning, and quickly became immersed in their world. Even though I’ve not read the rest of the series, or even the rest of Blue and Hannah’s story, I was able to follow along with very little problem. The story was very hot, but still there was a lot of sweet to balance that out. It definitely tells me I need to go back and read the rest of the series, because if this novella is so awesome, I can only imagine how fantastic the rest of the series is!
Even Better is a short novella that just didn’t really catch my attention. I also have never read the series it is attached too. It opens up with sex, and sex with no emotion behind it is just blah. I found myself starting to skim. Hanna seemed needy and insecure, which I found annoying. Blue was really intense, and some of the sex scenes bordered on abuse, but apparently that is what Hanna “needs”. The one part of this novella that I enjoyed and found well written was West. His dealing with PTSD and how Hanna and Blue help him though it. It was also the only time I really felt the connection between Hanna and Blue. Maybe I would of enjoyed Even Better better if I had read the first two books in the series, maybe. It was a little too dark for my taste.
