When one door closes … second chances open another … opportunity he can’t refuse. A chance to do the work he used to do … with a twist.
Cinnamon works from home as a project manager plus is heavily involved in global dog rescues—dogs of all kinds. When Ethan walks into the next door’s vet’s office with an injured shepherd in his arms, she sees another lost soul—just like the canine ones she helps.
Ethan knows he’s about to take a dangerous step, but he’s on the job, and no one—on the job or not—hurts animals while he’s around. This poor shepherd has taken enough abuse, and Ethan fears she is only the tip of a nightmare he’s determined to uncover. But he knows she’s going to lead him in the right direction.
He has his sights set on saving one dog in particular, Sentry: K9 File 01.

I really enjoyed how the author tied in the canine war heroes and the human heroes into a sexy, steamy love story.
I really got into this book I love stories with animals in them. It really makes them real. The characters were well rounded out and the story was great
This book was a quick easy read with a interesting storyline that kept you turning pages. It’s one in a series. Reading one will make you want to read the whole set.
I really liked the reading about the dogs and the characters’ love and appreciation of dogs. I learned something about them as well.
Dale Mayer writes realistically about war dogs and the veterans who gave their all to their country. He writes about the positive side of returning to civilian life and finding new purpose despite horrific injuries. He explains how dogs suffer, too, in war and can have lasting harmful effects. But his books are about the rainbow on the other side of the storm, and they are engrossing and engaging.
Interesting and meaningful!
Wounded soldiers and the dogs who saved their lives. Maybe a little romance and suspense thrown in. It was delightful.
I enjoyed this story. I liked how “broken” but never weak or pathetic the hero was. Was refreshing to see strong characters not have all the answers and working on figuring out their life.
OUTSTANDING!
great story, strong characters
I enjoyed it I wanted to sent it to my grand son but it was not in paperback but I did sent him some of the other books like this.
I have been disappointed in Dale Mayer’s new series. Like no romance until the last chapter no indications that was even a thing. Just not my thing. I enjoyed her earlier books but her last few books not so much.
Loved this book! The author has a good understanding of dogs and the different personalities of each dog. How they can be trained to be working dogs that are honorable and brave. But also how they can be abused to the point becoming vicious and how with lots of patience and rehab training they may be able to recover from their abuse. To become once again the noble and honest animals they are . I want to read more like this one.
enjoyed reading about service dogs
This was the first book that got me hooked on Julie Garwood’s books. Loved Kate and Dylan!
I love military stories. The hunt for justice is equal to the hard work for true love.
Exciting, sexy and wonderful characters that you can’t wait to catch up with in the next book.
