When Landon and Luci met at a New Year’s Eve party, they never expected to meet their one. He because he was still getting over what his cheating ex-wife had done to him, and she because she had never let anyone into her life before. They spend two steamy, beautiful nights together and then walk away never expecting to see the other again. Until one day the new attorney at the law firm where she’s the office manager, walks in and lo and behold it’s Landon, the man Luci’s still thinking of even though it’s been weeks since they saw each other.
Landon has a savior complex, a hero complex if you will, it’s why he was even with his ex-wife, and it’s why Luci’s determined to keep Landon at a distance when he first starts working at her law firm. Because she is most definitely a woman with baggage, a woman who could do with some rescuing, if she ever lets him in on her big secret. But, Landon’s determined to at least be friends with Luci, and she’s no match for his sweet charm. But, how will Landon react when he finds out her big secret? How will Luci react when he finds out? Will she believe he’s only with her so he can save her from her baggage? Or will she let him love her? Will he ever allow himself to tell her how he feels, even though he had decided he’d never utter those words again to another woman.
I liked Eternal. Landon is a sweet, sexy, sometimes alpha man. Luci is sweet, too, but sometimes I wanted to shake her for her really stupid behavior. I felt for her, of course, but she acted really stupidly more than once, and put herself into danger all for someone who most certainly didn’t deserve for her to even give them the time of day.
The only other thing I had a problem with in Eternal is that it was a little boring. Looking back on it, I realized that not a lot happened. There wasn’t much going on other than Luci’s sometimes stupid behavior and her keeping a big secret (which really wasn’t a big thing at all) from Landon. I wished for something with a little more oomph, something a bit more exciting. Other than that, though, Eternal turned out to be a sweet, sexy romance. Landon and Luci had sexy chemistry and made for a sweet couple. And the hints about Becca and Hale had me really intrigued to read their story.
Favorite Quotes:
Call me a fool in love. But don’t make me look like one.
I’m feeling very manly right now… I’m ready to sprout some more chest hair, wrestle a gator, and maybe chop some wood, pausing only to flex as you look on adoringly.
Have I mentioned Landon has an ass Adonis would kill Zeus to spank?
We say grace like good Christians and start talking like bad ones the minute we begin to pass the food.
What I feel, I’m always going feel for you. It’s eternal, like this ocean, something that’s always going to be… You’re my world, Luci, my ocean, and the eternity that I’ve waited for.
My Review:
Oh swoon, I quickly fell in love with this adorable couple and have discovered a new favorite author to stalk. This was my first experience reading the delightful work of Cecy Robson and am as giddy as a schoolgirl to report that I have stumbled upon treasure – and have since marked the loot with a big X on my Goodreads map. And no mistake, I do want it all as Ms. Robson has mad skills and obvious magic in her words. She has woven a bewitching spell with her engaging heart-squeezing story and sweet and lovable characters. The storyline was relevant, full of feels, and put a hot rock in my throat and even stung my eyes a few times. But more often than not, had me smirking from her clever humor, amusing banter, and gasp-worthy steam. This luscious couple was vibrantly appealing and magnetic and had more sparkle than a glitter bomb. The writing had excellent flow and was dynamic, amusing, easy to follow, held my rapt attention, and was unfailingly entertaining. The accidental meet the parent scene was especially lively and humorous. I’ve never been to South Carolina, but would gladly pack up and move for a Landon of my own.
Romance resonates with people, because the key element is love. Love is a universal language, we all speak but sometimes forget to feel. Eternal is conversation of the soul. The feelings are deep. Emotions are clear and the characters are as identifiable to you as me as the soothing sound of the breeze through the trees. There is no need for more than the beauty of the words, the bountiful feelings and the irresistible characters to make for an unforgettably timeless work of heart. Ms. Robson raises the bar and the sets the standard with Eternal.
