Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Water, Esher was banished from his home by his father, Hades, two centuries ago and given a new duty and purpose—to keep our world and his from colliding in a calamity foreseen by the Moirai.Together with his six brothers, he fights to defend the gates to the Underworld from daemons bent on breaching them and gaining entrance to that forbidden land, striving … striving to protect his home from their dark influence. Tormented by his past, Esher burns with hatred towards mortals and bears a grudge against Hades for forcing him into their world, condemning him to a life of battling to keep a fragile hold on his darker side—a side that wants to kill every human in the name of revenge.
Until he finds himself stepping in to save a female—a beautiful mortal filled with light and laughter who draws him to her as fiercely as the pull of the moon, stirring conflict in his heart and rousing dangerous needs long forgotten.
Aiko knows from the moment she sets eyes on the black-haired warrior that he is no ordinary man, just as she’s no ordinary woman. Blessed with a gift, she can see through his stormy façade to the powerful god beneath, and the pain and darkness that beats inside him—pain she grows determined to heal as she falls deeper under his spell and into his world.
When the daemon bent on turning Esher against his brothers makes her move, will Esher find the strength to overcome his past and fulfil his duty, or will the lure of revenge allow the darkness in his heart to seize control, transforming him into a god intent on destroying the world?

ESHER is book three in the Guardians of Hades series by Felicity Heaton.
WOW. Esher has some serous demons to deal with. He’s struggled and now we finally get to learn what caused this split in him and made him dislike humans so much. I liked Esher. Liked the struggle he has being around mortals and how his mood affected the weather. Their’s a lot of depth to Esher. Learning what truly happened to him to make him struggle so much, well that was an emotional moment to read.
Aiko; his mortal, his little butterfly who brings him peace and balance. She’s sweet and has a special ability just like all the women we meet so far in the series. Her ability makes it easier for her to not freak out around Esher, to understand the struggle he goes through, and who he truly is. I liked that she knows and doesn’t have that freak out that we usually get in PNR’s. Heaton is really good about make her characters understand each other and I like this.
Their romance is sweet and adorable, but then the author throws in a curveball and you go WHAT. I love these curveballs that pop up in Ms. Heaton’s stories. It makes things move along and you never know what will happen. It’s fabulous.
I just adore the relationship the brothers have. It’s so fun to watch. I also love seeing and learning more about each brother. We just get little tastes, but that taste makes you want more of each of them. I also adore watching their relationship’s develop and change as you see more and more brothers find love and we dive more into the mystery of who wants to end the world.
ESHER is another thrilling, heart stopping, and emotional read in the Guardians of Hades series. This series is spectacular. Heaton is an author I look forward to reading and know that I will always be entertained and taken an an outstanding adventure. Can’t wait for the next installment.
Rated: 4 Stars

OMG!!! That was the best book yet.
Esher is a water element that lives in Tokyo. He’s seen plenty of changes to his home, well actually it’s not home. He wants more than Valen to return to the underworld and his parents. He hates it here, the mortals are all beneath him, he can’t understand why Valen and Ares have taken mortal lovers!!
Aiko can sense beings, she knows there are “others” out there, she can communicate with spirits. So isn’t at all surprised to work out that Esher is a god. And his brothers are too.
She’s studying to be a doctor, to help her parents in their clinic.
Esher’s moods are not only connected to his past, but the phases of the moon, so when it’s at its fullest, Esher is at risk of losing his control.
They meet on a late night train. Esher comes to her rescue. That surprised the hell out of him, mortals aren’t worth his time, but this female draws him in, something about her soothes him, which in turn annoys him.
Esher is my favourite character in this series. So tormented, his past had definitely shaped him into the god he is today.
Being tortured and beaten for weeks had him almost ready to give up, but the knowledge that his father and brothers would find and rescue him kept him hanging on, but the repercussions of that abuse is he needs to keep his brothers safe at all times. If not, he loses control and bad things happen!!
He loves all his brothers, but shares a closer bond with Daimon, and it seems Daimon can calm his brother down easier than the rest.
Wounded in Valens book by a Wraith, saved by a mortal female, Esher is unstable. He wants to drown the world most days. He doesn’t see any redeeming qualities in the human race. Until Aiko shows him the world through her eyes, he still hates the mortals, but with his brothers finding happiness with them and now his “butterfly” Esher needs to come to terms with his hatred.
But when Aiko is kidnapped all bets are off, and the guardians need to find her before Esher unleashes his fury…..
With like all the previous stories we get just a little more info on the brothers and the trouble they are facing.
And now with a Goddess passing on a warning that something is coming, will they be able to stop it?
Esher is the third story in Felicity Heaton Guardians of Hades. Seven Alpha brothers banished by their father Hades to help guard the two worlds from colliding. Esher is Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Water.
Well Heaton gives us on the edge of your seat adventure that will pull you in and wanting more.
I have been interested in this character since Ares. Heaton does not disappoint and she makes you fall for this broken beautiful character. Guardians series is a world filled in mystery what’s better than reading about Alphas that fall in love and have action packed storyline.
I fell in love with Heaton’s work when I read her Angel’s series and each series or story I have read from her turned me into a huge fan.
If you love the paranormal romance then I highly recommend Esher but I suggest reading Ares first and then Valen to Esher it will give you a better understanding of characters and storylines. Happy Reading!!!
I have been waiting patiently for this installment of the Guardians of Hades Series. I am a true fan of Felicity Heaton. I found her books by accident and now I have everyone one. Strong characters and story lines. The only bummer, I read it in one day and now I have to wait for the next one. but good news, when she gives me a release date for it, I get to reread 1 thru 3 and try not to read 4 all in one day.
4.25 stars–ESHER is the third instalment in Felicity Heaton’s contemporary, adult GUARDIANS OF HADES paranormal/fantasy romance series very loosely based in Greek mythology, focusing on six brothers- the sons of Hades and Persephone -sent to Earth to guard the gates to the Underworld. This is Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Water Esher, and Aiko Matsumoto’s story line. ESHER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order as the brothers struggle against an unknown enemy to keep the human world and the Underworld from colliding.
NOTE: The Guardians of Hades series is Felicity Heaton’s interpretation of, and does not follow, the actual Greek mythological family tree or events.
Told from several third person perspectives including Esher and Aiko ESHER follows the forbidden relationship between the Prince of the Underworld and Lord of Water Esher, and human female Aiko Mastsumoto. The six sons of Hades and Persephone have been tasked with guarding a number of portals to the Underworld-portals that are now conduits for an infiltration of daemons sent to take over Earth and all of its inhabitants. With the increase in daemon activity comes a greater threat against Esher-a threat meant to enslave and imprison our story line hero. Enter Aiko Matsumoto, a young Japanese college student, and the woman with whom Esher will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Esher and Aiko, and the potential fall-out as Aiko becomes a pawn in a war between evil and the gods.
The relationship between Aiko and Esher is one of forbidden romance. Humans are not permitted to know of the gods existence on earth but our heroine is able to ‘read’ the supernatural, sensing when good or evil spirits are present. Esher’s inner turmoil finds our hero struggling with the growing darkness as a direct result of an injury inflicted by a poisonous wraith. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate, seductive and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
All of Esher’s brothers including Ares and his mate Megan (ARES #1), Valen and his mate Eva (VALEN #2), Daimon, eldest brother Keras, Marek, and baby brother Calistos play secondary and supporting roles; their mother Persephone, and their father Hades, as well as a number of daemons, shape-shifters, Valkyries and wraiths, as well as Aiko’s parents Hirotmi and Fumi Matsumoto.
ESHER is, like most of Felicity’s story lines, mostly told through written narrative where the reader is privilege to the internal dialogue, introspection and thoughts of the leading characters. Esher’s pain and growing darkness directly affects the environment and the people within, and it is Esher’s love for Aiko that will be the fuel that sends our hero over the edge. The premise is engaging, heartbreaking and entertaining; the romance is captivating; the characters are colorful and dynamic. Felicity Heaton’s heros and heroines are tragic yet inspiring; energetic but tender; charismatic and real.
Esher is the youngest son of Hades and maybe the deadliest and he has one huge issue…. He hates HUMANS…
The fates being as fickle as they can be decide to gift him one as a mate? Is Aiko human or something more?
We get a ton of action in this one and steamy parts too. It’s Dark and Riveting and will keep you glued to the pages. I am loving this new series.
Esher, Book 3 in the Guardians of Hades series, is a testament to the transformative power of unconditional love. Esher, damaged, vengeful, wounded and embattled, finds the light to balance his dark side in his little butterfly Aiko. She joins him and his brothers and their mates to vanquish the minion of a powerful enemy they know nothing about. Will they achieve their purpose and prevent the destruction of the world, or will they fail and open the gates of Hell for their enemy? Can they discover who is calling the shots behind the scenes or will they fall victim to her evil plan? Read this beautifully dark addition to the Guardians of Hades series and enjoy its action-packed and passionate story.
This series is AMAZING!!!
It’s like an epic adventure in every book. Felicity is exceptionally talented at making the story all you can think about, even when you’re not reading it, and really making you part of the adventure.
I was particularly interested in and curious about Esher when I met him in previous books. While each brother has his own “power,” which comes with its own hindrances, Esher’s was particularly incapacitating, and I couldn’t wait to see how Felicity resolved that for him.
I honestly feel like a broken record, saying the same thing for each of Felicity’s books, but she has truly mastered this dark, paranormal/fantasy romance thing, and just might ruin you for any other dark paranormal romance 😉
I received this book in consideration of my honest thoughts.
Esher is one of the princes from the Underworld sent by their father to protect the gates between the realms and preserve both as they should be. It’s very difficult for Esher to live among the humans, some of whom tortured him. He has form of PTSD that makes him especially dangerous . His element is water. His moods can drastically effect the weather.
Aiko is a medical student who also works as a waitress. The almost deserted late train is not the best place for a woman alone. She does have a slight magical gift that let’s her see things normal people can’t.
This is the third book in the series. While they are best read in order, you will still understand and enjoy each book on it’s own.
The way our author describes all the various fight scenes and battles will have you ducking for cover. When the brothers fight together combining their elements it makes you wonder about some of the extreme weather we have been getting around the world. L. O. L. The love scenes are emotional, passionate and HOT.
I have read a lot of books by this author and never once been disappointed. I can’t wait for the next in this series.
